Comedian Bernie Mac Is Dead

Comedian Bernie Mac died at Northwestern Memorial hospital in Chicago early this morning, reports the Chicago Sun TImes. The funny standup comedian and star of televison’s popular Bernie Mac show was 50.
Mary Ann Grossett, Mac’s sister-in-law spoke with People Magazine, sharing details of her famous inlaw’s final struggle:
He couldn’t breathe. He opened his eyes on his own and looked at Rhonda (his wife). She called his name, and he opened his eyes and nodded to her. She smiled at him and told him, ‘Don’t leave me … ‘I’m waiting for you to come back.’ He shrugged his shoulders, and she said that’s when she knew he was tired. He signaled to her that his body was tired….
[The doctors] were working on him. They tried to resuscitate him two times. One time he came back for about an hour. Then he went into cardiac arrest the second time.
His cause of death has not been officially reported but Mac has been hospitalized with Pneumonia for about a week, as reported by BET.com last week.
Stella Foster, the Chicago Sun Times reporter who broke the story says “It brought tears to my eyes because Bernie Mac has always been my all-time favorite entertainer and comedian. It pains me to have to report that,” Foster said during a phone interview on Saturday morning.
Entertainment mogul Russell Simmons has a rack of Bernie Mac stories but one particularly funny one stands out. “When he saw the lead-in comedian get booed off stage in his first nationally televised appearance on Def Comedy Jam,” Simmons told BET.com, “he coined one his most, if not his single most loved lines. He said “I aint scared of you mother*******”. And at least for part of his career that became his calling card. I just remembered that and it made me laugh”

THE FIRST TIME I SAW BERNIE WAS ON KING OF COMEDY.HE MADE ME LAUGH SO HARD TILL I CRIED.EVERYTIME I SEE HIS PIC OR READ SOMETHING ABOUT HIM,MY HEART GETS SO SAD.I LOVED BERNIE MAC.I KNOW I AM GONNA MISS HIM. I ALREADY DO.I HEARD OF HIS DEATH BEFORE IT HAPPENED.AND IT WASN’T TRUE.THEN A FEW DAYS LATER I HEARD OF IT AGAIN,AND IT WAS TRUE. I WAS SURE HOPING IT WASN’T TRUE.I SAID OH! Bernie Mack was the man kept real made you laugh just thinking about him you laughed cause one of his jokes pop in your head or a comment he maid gone but not forgotten a true icon prayers and love go out ot his family and true friends one love.

Our condolences, thoughts and prayers are with the Mac family. Bernie will definitely be missed! I personally will miss that beautiful smile that shined like the sun. I really thank God for bringing Bernie into our lives, although I have never met him personally, he really made an impact upon my life during a time when I thought I couldn’t laugh…just watching his show or a stand up routine of his…really made a big difference in my day and changed it for the better. I will always be grateful for that! We love you Bernie!

My heartfelt blessings goes out to Bernie Mac and his family, he was definitely a great man of comedy and he loved what he did to make us all life, I laughed about the movie Life, Friday, and the Kings of Comedy he was a dear person and made everybody’s home funny with his comdey words of wisdom and laughter. To his family, his wife, his daughter I too know what you are going thru last year 8-18-2007 my father a former Marine died also of scarodios and pneumioa to the lungs and it was so sudden, and I’m still coping with it each and everyday and it gets better but it’s a struggle, but know that God makes no mistakes and things will get better thru prayer and time, I know my dad is up in heaven with Bernie saying where’s my milk and cookies, God Bless you and you are in my prayers.

When i first heard about bernie mac death i then felt like i had lost a famiy member of mind but then i heard that it wasn’t true then i was like thank God. then the next day my ma left me a voice message and she said “well tiny bernie mac died this morning”. it hurted so bad. buutit hurted my baby brother the most because he looked up to bernie. he is only 15 and he loved bernie ever since his small piece in the movie friday and on to movie life he loved it when bernie said “I da papie” bernie you will be truel miss much love go out to your family. love you dearly

My heart goes out to the family and friends of Bernie Mac. I can’t remember who said this ( I think George Clooney), but one of hi close celebrity friends said “THE WORLD JUST GOT A LITTLE LESS FUNNY.” And it’s true. I feel as though I will laugh a little less because he is gone, but I know that heaven just got funnier, too. Bernie Mac, you will truly truly be missed and never ever forgotten!
