Comedian Bernie Mac Is Dead

Comedian Bernie Mac died at Northwestern Memorial hospital in Chicago early this morning, reports the Chicago Sun TImes. The funny standup comedian and star of televison’s popular Bernie Mac show was 50.
Mary Ann Grossett, Mac’s sister-in-law spoke with People Magazine, sharing details of her famous inlaw’s final struggle:
He couldn’t breathe. He opened his eyes on his own and looked at Rhonda (his wife). She called his name, and he opened his eyes and nodded to her. She smiled at him and told him, ‘Don’t leave me … ‘I’m waiting for you to come back.’ He shrugged his shoulders, and she said that’s when she knew he was tired. He signaled to her that his body was tired….
[The doctors] were working on him. They tried to resuscitate him two times. One time he came back for about an hour. Then he went into cardiac arrest the second time.
His cause of death has not been officially reported but Mac has been hospitalized with Pneumonia for about a week, as reported by BET.com last week.
Stella Foster, the Chicago Sun Times reporter who broke the story says “It brought tears to my eyes because Bernie Mac has always been my all-time favorite entertainer and comedian. It pains me to have to report that,” Foster said during a phone interview on Saturday morning.
Entertainment mogul Russell Simmons has a rack of Bernie Mac stories but one particularly funny one stands out. “When he saw the lead-in comedian get booed off stage in his first nationally televised appearance on Def Comedy Jam,” Simmons told BET.com, “he coined one his most, if not his single most loved lines. He said “I aint scared of you mother*******”. And at least for part of his career that became his calling card. I just remembered that and it made me laugh”

God bless Bernie Mac’s family. Indeed it is sad for a lot of families who tuned in every week to see Bernie Mac. My 15 year old son would put on the first season of the Bernie Mac show with close caption on just to learn Bernie’s lines. A couple years ago I got a call from one of his teachers indicating he disrupted the class mocking Bernie Mac. I bust out laughing because my son is good mocking Bernie. My son is very hurt his buddy is gone, but God knew best and wanted him home to add more comedy in heaven.
Bernie will truly be missed. He was a great comedian. The family truly has my condolescence.
There were times when I needed a laugh and I will turn on the Bernie Mac Show. He will make me laugh when i didn’t want to cause of what i was going through.Berine had a gift of laughter that was from God. i want to say to hus wife,daughter and granddaughter we all have a purpose in life and Bernie had fulfill them.May God Always keep you. always be a BERNIE MAC fan. I will always remember when he appeared on Def Comedy Jam. He came on stage with his eyes looking like he meant business saying “I ain’t scared of you MF’s.” Thanks for the great laughs.
Bernie was one of the greatest in comedy!!! He was truly loved and will be greatly missed!!My heart goes out to his family and close friends!!He was tired of suffering and now he is in a much better place without the pain!! I LOVE YOU and REST IN PEACE BERNIE!!!!!!!!!
I would just like to send my deepest sympathy out to the Mac Family. My prayers are with you all. Bernie Mac was one of the greatest (if not the BEST) comedian ever. Now, we all know that Bernie is in a much, much, much better place and will no longer have to suffer. We miss you and we ALL love you Bernie Mac. REST IN PEACE.

I got an text on aug. 9th sayin dat the great brenie mac had died i didnt wanna belive it so i looked at the news an i couldnt find it then i found it on bet an i was sad an i just wanted to tell the family im sorry for thier great lost you have my prayers
Bernie Mac is gone and i just cant believe it. When i found out i was so devistated.He was my favorite comedian ever because some of the things he said i could definetly relate to. He was a great man to all of his fans and family.If he doesn’t know already he has so many people that loves him to death.And not seeing him anymore with his big smile that lights up the room when he walks in and those funny jokes that he brings all the time would truly be miss.God bless his family because they had a great father and husband.

My condolinces go out to the family of Bernie Mac. Hope you rest in peace and god be looking over you,we will miss you alot. I still from this day cant beleave hes gone but we all no hes in a better place.GOD BLESS.
My heart truly goes out to Mrs. Rhonda and her family, but know that what God give you and Mr. Bernie Mac can’t never be forgotten because Bernice Mac made it know to America and I quote “Married 30 years, that is a beautiful thing”. Your relationship is truly an example of what a marriage is based upon in God’s eye. May God continue to heal you in time Mrs. Rhonda with the utter most respect and love.
Bernie Mac was so funny that he made me cry every stand up he done. He was in my top 5 list of best comedian of all time. He will be truly missed.. Thank you for the joyful times Bernie. GOD BLESS.

Wow! I’m still in shock to know that GOD has taken Bernie Mac but as we know HE only picks the best flowers and he decided to pick Bernie Mac this time. He’s now in the loving arms of the ALMIGHTY FATHER IN HEAVEN! Bernie will be missed by me and so may others I know.

I was shocked and saddened by this news. that the king of comedy ,Bernie Mack will no longer with us, Our prayers are with the family ,and may God bless his Family today and always. Bernie you will be missed.
