If you are not from “THE TOWN” then you know nothing about “The Town” except what you see and hear from the media…and they will let you know only what they want you to know.

I just think we all need to Pray for all the victims. I live in the Bay, not too far from where this all occurred. It was sad to wake up new years day to watch this tragedy on the News, to see this young black man shot while in hand cuffs. Then having to see it one TV everyday since then. Now the Riot! it’s so terrible and sad. I just pray that my folks out here pull together and pray for the family of that victim and stop all this madness. God will make the final judgment on everything else, including that police cop’s punishment. ..

The officer quit, but he will still be punished, if he does not commit suicide. That is usually what officers in trouble with the law do….shoot themselves. Pray for Oakland and the Grant family. No need to bicker, we all know our nation is in trouble. I can think of several times I could have made a bad situation worst by not thinking calmly and clearly. i’am sick and tied about they cops keep killing or mess up with our black people,and that need really to investigated because since obama is president so many black already be killed for what ,just racism that need to stop or black you need to stand up for yourself now because you die and next be suicide and even that not true ,but police but that on your report for your family and that really wrong then black you must wake up.now. and all of u demand that need to stop police killing black or put them in jail for no raison at all ,they just look a charge for them ..no we can not tolerate that again everybody need to stand up. my brothers and sisters.

I would say that it may not be the answer to riot but when 911 happen the government showed us that we fight. This is America and apprently we like to go to war, this country spends most of its money on the military. Why? We went over there and destroyed thier properties, business, families and some of our own, because of what we thought was done wrong to us so when something goes wrong in our own country we go to war here. When they set a better example for us purhaps we will do better. Home training!!!

Another sad point is that the young man is not alive to take responsible for his actions. Maybe if he was alive, he would have had a chance to learn from his mistake and pass that teaching on down to his daughter. There was more to Oscar Grant than just a young man in a bad situation that day.. It’s kind of too late to say what he could have or should have done now. The main focus should be “what could we as people do now, to make sure this does not happen again-Anywhere?!”.

Kendra, No matter what the original beef was nobody that is handcuffed behind their back and face down on the ground is a threat to anyone. Just by being shot in the back shows that he could’nt be a threat.

He quit trying to avoid procecution. But that to me shows he knows he was wrong. If he waited, they probably would find some way to justify the shooting.

I agree with those of you that say he was lying face down on the ground in handcuffs and therefore was no threat to anyone. The fact that this officer quit rather than allow the “blue wall of silence” to protect him as they do all officers to me is a sign of guilt. Oscar Grant III should not be dead today! That being said; when are black people going to learn that tearing up our own neighborhoods will not get you justice. We must fight with our minds not our hands or we will end up locked up and still justice will not be served. Rioting is STUPID!!!! I mean if you’re that angry and you want to make a statement then don’t make it in the your neighborhood, don’t tare down the area in which you have to reside in. Sooooooooooooo ignorant. I was in LA during the Rodney King Riots and some of those areas are still damaged to this day. We are burning down the very areas that we have to live in. I mean if you want to make a statement, then take it it the opposing side, not your own! IGNORANT! If this was a white person who was killed by the police i would feel the same as i do now. This is the epitome of injustice. Even if u have negative feelings toward the black community, the fact still remains that this is a human being. As a 21 year old black man in NYC i can honestly say that i am hurt to see something like this happen in a country that stands against oppression and for democracy. When i look at this video i don’t see the victim’s color, i only see the cop’s badge. liberty and justice “for all”.
