Cover-up By Philly Cops In Videotaped Beating?
May 12th, 2008A lawyer says the police never believed the victims were involved in an officer’s death
Did the 15 Philly cops who beat down three Black men during a traffic stop last week really think they had nabbed the suspects in a local shooting, or did they make that story up to cover up a serious case of mistaken identity? Eldridge Suggs, the attorney for one of the beating victims, Dwayne “Lionel” Dyches, said that neither of the suspects was involved in a street-gang shooting – and the police knew it – but they initially thought they had captured the man who had shot a Philadelphia Police officer. “All they’ve done is make up some facts to account for the beating,” Suggs said. “And the reason why they beat this man is because he looked so much like the cop-killer.” On the evening of May 4, police stopped a car carrying Dyches, 24; Brian Hall, 23; and Pete Hopkins, 19. The three young men were yanked from their car and punched, stomped and pummeled with nightsticks by at least 15 policemen, as news helicopters captured the entire event on videotape. Thirteen of the officers have been put on leave. At a news conference Friday, Suggs held up a photo of Dyches and police shooting suspect Eric Floyd and called the two men’s resemblance “uncanny,” Philly.com reports. Floyd was captured last week and charged with the murder of Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski. Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey and Mayor Michael Nutter contend that the officers stopped the three beating victims after a triple shooting in North Philadelphia . They denied a cover-up but acknowledged that the incident was a “black eye on the force.” They also said that the Rev. Al Sharpton, who likened the police actions those of the officers involved in the infamous 1991 beating of motorist Rodney King in Los Angeles , was merely fanning racial flames by suggesting that the incident was racially motivated. Yes they always do. They are suppose to protect us, but when you see a police officer you are scared to death that they may beat the hell out of you or kill you and nothing is going to be done about it. Now that sad.

I RECENTLY MOVE FROM DETROIT TO CALFORNIA I ATTENDED LONGBEACH CITY COLLEGE I WAS RIDING MY BICYCLE HOME TWO WHITE COPS PULLED IN FRONT OF ME SAID CAN I TALK TO YOU I SAID YES THEY JUST JUMP OUT THE CAR AND SAID GET AGAINST THE PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR HEAD I ASKED THE OFFICERS WHAT DID I DO THEY WOULD NOT SAY NOTHING SO ONE OF THE COPS SAID YOU BETTER STOP TALKING SMART OR YOU GOING TO JAIL I SAID YOU GOING TO TAKE ME TO JAIL BECAUSE I ASKED WHAT DID I DO. SO TWO MALE COPS FILLING MY PRIVACY I SAID YOU NOT SUPPOSED TO BE TOUCHING LIKE THAT THE OFFICERS SAID WE DOOT HAVE ENOUGH WOMEN COPS ON THE FORCE TO COME AND CHECK YOU. AM NOT A FELON NEVER BEEN TO JAIL. SO THEY GAVE ME A TICKET ON MY BICYLE FOR NOT HAVING A BIKE LICENSE,HEADPHONES THAT WAS NOT ON,BELL. I WENT TO THE POLICE STATION TO MAKE A REPORT THEY WOULD NOT LET ME MAKE A POLICE REPORT I CALL INTERNAL AFFAIRS ONLY THING THEY SAID WE WILL CALL OVER THERE AND TELL THEM THEY NEED TO GIVE OFFICERS BETTER TRAINING I THINK THAT WAS A COVER UP BECAUSE THEY WOULDNOT LET ME FILE A COMPLAINT I FILL THEY WAS RACIAL PROFILING ME. I GOT A LETTER AND THE MAIL THAT TICKET WAS $417.00 DOLLARS JUST BECAUSE I DIDNOT HAVE A BELL,BIKE LICENSE,HEADPHONES AND LONGBEACH POLICE ONLY TARGET BLACK PEOPLE, BECAUSE EVERY WHITE PERSON I TALK TO THAT BEEN LIVING IN LONGBEACH SAY THEY NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE, EVEN SOME WHITE PEOPLE SAID THEY WAS RACIAL PROFILING ME. LONGBEACH POLICE IS RACIST THOSE RULES ON APPLY TO BLACK PEOPLE I SEE WHITES WITHOUT THOSE REQUIREMENTS AND THEY DONOT GET A TICKET. WHATS SO SAD THEY WOULDNOT LET ME MAKE A POLICE REPORT BECAUSE THEY COVER UP FOR THE OFFICERS,SO ITS HAPPENING EVERYWHERE. POLICE CORRUPTION IS IN THE BIBLE AND THE BIBLE DONOT LIE. READ REVELATION AND IT WILL TELL YOU ALL ABOUT POLICE CORRUPTION IT IS REAL VERY REAL AND ALL BAD COPS WILL PAY WHEN JUDGEMENT DAY COME AND ITS COMING SOON. THEY WILL PAY MORE THEN A LAWSUIT THEY HAVE TO ANSWER TO GOD OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST.

This kind of abuse of Blacks will continue until Blacks (like those with military training) form some kind of a squad that will serve to protect the Black community in instances like this one. If cops and others who imfringe upon us with brutality knew that someone would, more than likely, catch up with them and kick their as— in retaliation than they might think about it first. Any Black cop who participated in this really needs to search his soul and ask himself who is he trying to impress. Those white cops don’t care about your Black butt either.

I am convinced that they will sweep this under the rug like everything else. Philly is hot right now and the cops are frustrated, they need to be given what they need to protect us instead of taking thier frustration out on us.

The police are pawns in this global game being played by politicians.They’re being trained differently (zero tolerance) these days and its a shame.Revenue gatherers.Its been going on since the dark ages and all us people seem to be able to do is moan.Thousands of years of moaning.They wont listen,and never will.If we all abided by the law would they leave us alone…???
It probably is being covered up….if those 3 guys had been US soldiers, black, and were over in Iraq and beat up by 15 other soldiers they would have been court martialed (sp) and sentenced to some time in jail. Cops do not have that type of honor in their ranks, they act like a thug unit let loose on the streets of america as if they are alien enemies of the people.
