Entertainment: Motown Songwriting Legend Dies at 65; Damon Dash Hasn’t Seen Teenage Son in Weeks
September 18th, 2008
A Motown songwriting legend dies at age 65.The man who wrote such timeless hit songs as “Heard It Through the Grapevine,” “War” and “Just My Imagination” has died. Norman Whitfield, who helped Motown acts achieve star status through his moving, poetic lyrics, suffered from complications due to diabetes. Whitfield had come out of a coma before his death on Tuesday. His Temptations-performed hit “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone” won a Grammy Award. Whitfield was 65.

Damon Dash hasn’t seen teenage son in weeks. The mother of rap label founder and entrepreneur Damon Dash’s 16-year-old has a warrant for her arrest. Linda Williams, son of Damon Jr., has allegedly refused to return the child to his dad for several weeks. Dash has full legal custody of the teen. An attorney for Damon Jr. and Williams has said that Damon Jr. wants to remain with his mother.

I grew up in the 60s listening to Mr. Whitfield’s lyrics with The Temptations,Edwin Starr and Marvin Gaye. His lyrics will be remember for years to come because he was one of the trailblazers of Motown.I know this is a sad day for all who knew him but I guess God needed another songwriter to make heavenly songs sound so wonderful. My Condolences to all who knew him and shared his vision on making wonderful music for the world to hear.

WHO IS DAMON DASH?
NO ONE KNOWS OR CARES ABOUT HIM.
HE PROBABLY PUT THIS ON THE INTERNET HIMSELF
I hope this ends on a postive note for Mr Dash and his babby mom. But in the mean time…”Run Bish ..Run”!!!!
There are few songs ..”Black or White”..that have true meaning any more songs that touch your soul. Now week have..” Fast Food Songs”.. That fill your heart and mind for a minute and you are hungry again. Mr Whtifields talents will be missed everytime I hear his music I think about what was going on in my life when I first heard the song and then I smile and sing along.
Damon Dash, I’m truly sorry for what you are going through with your son. You got to realize most boys love their mother regardless of the situation and the same applys for girl. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Norman Whitfield was a master song writer and he will be missed, but his musicical lyrics will live on in the hearts that he touched and those who sang the songs. God bless the family, friends and those who had the pleasure of working with this song writing genius. May Mr. Whitfield RIP!
Damon Dash there is a reason for her actions. And there are 3 sides to every story, yours, hers and the truth!!!
All I know is that if the shoe was on the other foot and she had full custody, and Dame decided to keep the child for three weeks, his @$$ would be in hot water. He has full, legal custody so she should serve time for kidnapping whether it is her son or not. Fair is fair.
I so remember his role from the Temptations movie. I love that movie and I love those songs. He will be missed greatly.
You cant take a child from it’s mother. Im a kid and no matter how much my mom and me get into it living whit my dad is a big NO NO. As for Norman Whitfield i dont listen to him or even know about him cause im 14 but my condolences go out to his family cause it is hard losing a loved one.
