U.N., Afghan observers say scores of women and children were killed

New evidence appears to back up claims by the United Nations and Afghanis who contend that a U.S. raid killed some 90 civilians, including scores of women and children in the western Afghanistan village of Azizabad . The Associated Press reported Monday that it had obtained two grainy videos – apparently taken by cell phones – of the grisly scene. According to AP, the video shows “bodies lying side-by-side on the mosque floor, covered by floral-patterned blankets and Black-and-White checkered shawls. One young boy lay curled in a fetal position; others looked as though they were asleep. One child had half its head blown off. Turbaned men walked around, gently lifting the blankets covering the faces of the dead. At least two elderly men were among the dead. There appeared to be several dozen bodies lying on the mosque floor, though a precise count was difficult because of the poor quality of the images.” While the videos are not definitive proof that 60 children were killed in the raid, they do seem to contradict the Pentagon’s assertion that 35 militants and only seven civilians were killed in Azizabad.

People must be allowed to post anything they want as long as there are not obsenities involved. Case in point, Jesscia above should be horse whipped for posting such TRASH, under an article so sorrowful about deaths of innocent women, children and just civilians in general. People should boycott the disgusting sites that they try to promote under these articles. Doesn’t anyone speak out about issues anymore??? I see more responses for exposed breasts and behinds. Our people need help!

Yeah I know what you mean Michael – Jessica needs her butt spanked for putting crap like that on such an intense blog.

Anyhow this article hurt my heart – innocent children dying is such a shame. I’m not sure what really happened – but unless you are there – I guess we’ll never know. I’ve seen some footage where kids where shooting our military folks over ther fighting the war – what do they do when put in a possession like that. Do you shoot the kid or womb them? I remember that movie – 3kings – where the old man who looked old as heck and seemed not to pose a threat to anyone – pull out the semi-automatic machine gun and shoot one of team members. I wonder does our military encounter such incidents like this.

Micheal:

Amen !

Candygirl:

the tragedy in this region is that the people of Afgahnistan know nothing else then war (to outsiders and insiders) the past 29 years. That are nearly 2 generations in these societies (broader definiton would be central asian muslime societies) which suffered pain, anxiety and destructive madness. It´s completly equal to these people who or what or in which name killed their familiy-members. Such an attack is clearly Air Force style. And in times where children killed Soviet soldiers with american weapons (and even chinese) american film industry demonized the foreign invaders as they do now the inhabitants who are living in the areas where US military is active.
Do you think that soviet or east-european media told the truth about the nature of their war ! Hell no ! And US military and media will not admit as well that their soldiers/war machine commit war crimes.
