Four People Charged In Little Girl’s Drive-By Killing
July 8th, 2008Police say that the Salt Lake City shooting was the result of a gang beef.
Three youngsters and an adult have been charged in the killing of a 7-year-old girl who was gunned down while playing on a sidewalk outside her Salt Lake City home on Sunday. Police believe the girl was caught up in the crossfire of rival gangs. Arrested were Frank Benavidez, a 20-year-old; Gabriel Magallon, 17; Mae Johnson, 16; and Tiona Vigial, 16 – all booked into the Salt Lake City Jail on suspicion of first-degree homicide. The young victim has been identified as Maria Del Carmen Menchaca, a second-grader at Riley Elementary. Police say that the girl was playing when somebody fired a gun from a passing Black SUV. They say that Benavidez was driving the SUV. One of the juveniles was aiming his gun at another juvenile, fired a single shot and hit Maria. The Salt Lake City Tribune reported that “Minutes after the shooting, the victim’s relatives ran beneath police tape and struggled with officers as they gathered outside the home. Many shrieked and fell to the ground upon news of the girl’s death. Her body lay on the sidewalk, shrouded by White fabric panels set up by investigators.”
OMG!!! May GOD ALMIGHTY be with the family and may justice prevail!!!! fry those bastards i couldnt even imagine. Poor baby….children can’t even play in their own front yards anymore! And I didn’t know Salt Lake City was bangin’ like that!!!!! That’s crazy that just goes to show there is NO SAFE PLACE EXCEPT IN THE ARMS OF THE LORD! We have to pray God covers us and our children and our childrens’ children daily with the blood of Jesus!

Sharonda is so stupid, what does your comment have to do with this situation. This is really sad, we all need to wake up and get it together, the judge should give all of them the death penalty and mabey it will make people think before they do something stupid.
Gang violence is everywhere and it ain’t just blacks banging. Us minorities are slowly killing each other off for the white man.

Nobody wins…The young victim’s relatives suffering, the accuse’s relatives suffering, and all of them are very young. One young person going to the grave, the other young people are going to prison. Whereas, all their young lives has perished. None of them experience life, their lives are all wasted, over nothing. May God strengthen and comfort us all.

This is sad! Okay, Were are these kids Momma and Daddies? There are 3 young under age men. Do you think if we get a law. If your child is under the age of 18 when they commit a crime like this, THERE PARENTS SHOULD DO JAIL TIME 2. MAYBE that law will MAKE people pay more attention to there kids. Shouldnt they be in a summer camp, at work, or helping the elder in there community. Just pray and seek the word of Jesus, he is the only 1 that is going to help the famlies find a way to move forward.

And u know parents arent around like they use to be.. hell.. like 3 of my friends lost their moms.. 1 in jail for cocain, another in rehab for cocain, and anothers body was found in the river b/c she was messin with the wrong dude & people. The kind of people a mother of 2 girls should not be around.

I bless the little girl and her soul. I am only 11 and I can see how hard it is to be outside and playing with my friends. I hope she is a little angel that is sent up to GOD. Whoever did it should suffer
