Health: How’s the Economy Affecting Your Health?

December 3rd, 2008

How’s the economy affecting your health? The bad economy is bad for women’s health. A new poll shows that nearly half of all women are skipping medical care because of health care costs. Not only are they opting not to visit the doctor regularly, but they are missing recommended medical procedures and medication for themselves and their family, The Washington Post reports. The survey, sponsored by the National Women’s Health Resource Center (which is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services), also found cultural differences among the women. About 58 percent of Hispanic women said they skipped health care, compared with 43 percent of White women and 42 percent of Black women.

I am a woman and I don’t visit the doctor because I found that they cause more illness than they cure. If you go and say, for instance, my fingers are numb. They know what’s wrong but they put you through a lot of bull to get more money, and you are still left with that same problem or another. It is like getting your car fixed and the mechanic unplug something so you will come back. He charge you $1,000 and put the plug back in. I went for shoulder pain. I was given acupunture. It hurt so bad. I was told it was not suppose to hurt. My shoulder stopped hurting but my fingers went numb. However, no one wants to take responsibility for that.
