Hip-hop Mayor’s Sex-text Nightmare About To Get Worse

As the defense team for Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick prepares to beat back charges that he lied about his relationship with his longtime chief of staff, prosecutors are planning to roll out a whole new string of sexy text messages showing that cheating on his wife was a way of life. The so-called “Hip-hop Mayor” is currently facing a single perjury charge – that he lied under oath regarding his alleged affair with Christine Beatty. The case against Kilpatrick centers largely around the numerous sexually explicit text messages he sent to Beatty, who served as his chief of staff from 2002 until January 2008 when she resigned amid the scandal. But the bulldog-tough D.A. in the case, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, is picking through a mound of other Kilpatrick text messages – five year’s worth – hoping to find other evidence that Beatty wasn’t the only woman the married mayor was seeing on the side. “I’ll put the defense on notice, we’re about to file an amended warrant and complaint to amend the counts that relate to conspiracy as it relates to testimony about having a sexual relationship with the codefendant,” Assistant Prosecutor Robert Moran told The Detroit Free Press. “We’re going to amend to add the language ‘and others.’ We’ve uncovered other evidence.” The newspaper recently reported that a review of Kilpatrick’s trial testimony uncovered proof of additional affairs. “In addition to denying an affair with Beatty, the mayor denied having sex with an unidentified Jamaican woman at a barbershop,” it states. “One of the mayor’s former bodyguards had also accused him of meeting a woman at the Lofts apartments in Detroit for a late-night liaison. Kilpatrick was not asked directly about that allegation at trial.” As one might expect, lawyers for Kilpatrick and Beatty are perturbed. James Thomas, who represents Kilpatrick, expressed disappointment with the prosecutors’ plan of attack but would not elaborate on the revised case, according to the Free Press. Mayer Morganroth, Beatty’s attorney, call Moran’s comments “outrageous.” District Judge Ronald Giles has yet to rule on whether the content of the 14,000 text messages will become part of the public court file. “But they don’t even care,” Morganroth said of prosecutors. “They just want to get stuff out there any way they can to taint the jury. It’s outrageous but they do it anyway, whether it’s true or not, whether the information is privileged or whether it’s sealed or not.”

Linda,I’ve been trying to figure that one out myself.I do listen to hip hop,but what the hell,or how the hell do they come up with the term Hip Hop mayor.As far as I know,he’s not a rapper.
I feel that whatever he has done is between him and GOD everything and body else is irrelevent. If his wife forgave him than its none of our business. Maybe Kim Worthy is jealous of the fact that it was not her. They voted a young man as mayor so they get what they voted for. Let it go he is just another male whore.

It doesn’t matter what his wife did if she did anything.Two wrongs don’t make a right. He’s a public official who got caught,no matter how long ago it was, If you’re doing dirt, it’ll always catch up to you ESPECIALLY if you’re a public official,plus he lied under oath.

Kwame got in that powerful posiiton and forgot who he was. He might be from an influential family and he might be major of Detroit. BUT he’s still a black man and therefore can not do the same shady and illegal dirt that “other” politicians do and get off.
Why is constantly being called detroit’s “Hip-Hop Mayor”? Does he have a rap album out that I haven’t heard of? Or is it becuz he’s young and black? BET needs to stop it! And WTH does his ‘messin around’ have 2 do with how he run’s the city? Or this current case goin on?
Kwame you have been HAD brotha. What a shame that you would solicit yourself like this and philander around like a “dog” belittling and embarassing your wife, kids and family. Another stereotypical attitude brought forth as truth to those who look upon African American men as unfaithful, dishonest and not worthy to be in the position that you were in.
The truth will come out and we as adults must be held accountable for our actions, no matter what position of authority we are in or who we are. I am sure you will be made an example for others.
Another set back for African Americans because we are (all) “unfortunately” judged by this type of behavior.
The real concern should be why in the **** are we spending taxpayer money on an investigation about a man cheating on his wife?
I don’t care who he is honestly. The real question is why are we spending taxpayer money on an individual’s personal affairs….?
