Hip-hop Mayor’s Sex-text Nightmare About To Get Worse

As the defense team for Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick prepares to beat back charges that he lied about his relationship with his longtime chief of staff, prosecutors are planning to roll out a whole new string of sexy text messages showing that cheating on his wife was a way of life. The so-called “Hip-hop Mayor” is currently facing a single perjury charge – that he lied under oath regarding his alleged affair with Christine Beatty. The case against Kilpatrick centers largely around the numerous sexually explicit text messages he sent to Beatty, who served as his chief of staff from 2002 until January 2008 when she resigned amid the scandal. But the bulldog-tough D.A. in the case, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, is picking through a mound of other Kilpatrick text messages – five year’s worth – hoping to find other evidence that Beatty wasn’t the only woman the married mayor was seeing on the side. “I’ll put the defense on notice, we’re about to file an amended warrant and complaint to amend the counts that relate to conspiracy as it relates to testimony about having a sexual relationship with the codefendant,” Assistant Prosecutor Robert Moran told The Detroit Free Press. “We’re going to amend to add the language ‘and others.’ We’ve uncovered other evidence.” The newspaper recently reported that a review of Kilpatrick’s trial testimony uncovered proof of additional affairs. “In addition to denying an affair with Beatty, the mayor denied having sex with an unidentified Jamaican woman at a barbershop,” it states. “One of the mayor’s former bodyguards had also accused him of meeting a woman at the Lofts apartments in Detroit for a late-night liaison. Kilpatrick was not asked directly about that allegation at trial.” As one might expect, lawyers for Kilpatrick and Beatty are perturbed. James Thomas, who represents Kilpatrick, expressed disappointment with the prosecutors’ plan of attack but would not elaborate on the revised case, according to the Free Press. Mayer Morganroth, Beatty’s attorney, call Moran’s comments “outrageous.” District Judge Ronald Giles has yet to rule on whether the content of the 14,000 text messages will become part of the public court file. “But they don’t even care,” Morganroth said of prosecutors. “They just want to get stuff out there any way they can to taint the jury. It’s outrageous but they do it anyway, whether it’s true or not, whether the information is privileged or whether it’s sealed or not.”

The mayor is in a difficult position. One would hope that the charges will prove false, but if they don’t then he will have to take responsibility for his actions, apologize to all those he hurt, offended and lied to and be about the business of rebuilding his life and (if his wife agrees) his marriage. I wish the brother the best. Hopefully its all lies. We don’t need another brother in leadership falling to something as base as not being able to control his sexual appetites. If a man knows that he likes having more than one lady on his, then stay single. And if you do something stupid, as we all do from time to time, tell the truth. Its an issue of character.

First thing I have 2 say is I live in detroit. Born n raised here n the d. To yall who say kwame is a good mayor yea right. First of all he lied under oath. Second of all he’s taking money from the city. Third he’s married with children. Kwame hasn’t done nothing for the city but make us look bad. All the big projects he’s done have been downtown detroit which is nice by the way, BUT WHAT ABOUT OR NEIGHBORHOODS KWAME U PUT ALL THE MONEY DOWNTOWN BUT NOT IN THE HOODS WHICH REALLY NEED IT. He got our police f**ked up layn off a lot of they jobs. So of couse theres more crime. By they way I didn’t vote for kwame neither time. So I never like him. It wasn’t because he young sh*t I’m 23 its because I didn’t think he would be right for mayor,and I was right.
True… what this man did was morally wrong and now he’s being exposed. He’s a grown man and he has to take responsibility for his actions so if he’s guilty he should resign. His actions will make it more difficult for young candidates to be trusted, but hopefully Detroit will get past this too…..

i did not know it was about who he was sleeping with but was he doing it with the city’s money. i don’t think sleeping around with other women is not what that state should be prosecuting him for wether he fired some one becuase he know what was going and lieing about is what should be what the state should be worrying about. a man in his positions should know if you do anything it will be in the public eye and people will try to use it agaist you i guess he forgot.

I moved from Detroit because of the chaos that is an intricate part of the culture there. Nonetheless, I think it is important for us to firmly evaluate this man’s lifestyle because the taxpayer’s dollars are firmly supporting his antics. Of course, we can easily say, “This is his life; we need to stay out of it, etc.” However, remember that it is the people of Detroit’s tax paying dollars that pay for his lifestyle; thus, Detroiters have a right to know what their public servant (a servant that they elected) is doing. The fact that he lied under oath makes it worst because it demonstrates his lack of integrity. I live in Boston, Massachusetts, and the mayor here is a worthy one that sincerely cares about his city. A lady made a mistake and hit Mayor Menino with her car while he was bike riding, and you know what he said? He told her to not worry about it, that he would personally pay for the damage on her car–and HE was hurt [not badly, but he was hurt nonetheless]! That, to me is an example of a public figure that sincerely cares about the people he serves. I am honored to be a resident of Massachusetts, and am glad I moved from Detroit because it was crippling my intellect and destroying my spirit. Remember, the politicians are here to serve the public…not act in their own best interests.

WOW!!!!!!!! I am so amazed by people response on the Mayor of Detroit. It seems to me that were living in a society were people are over looking BAD BEHAVIOR. How can you use the adage that because he’s black their trying to bring him down or other people have done this and gotten away with it. This thought process is not right and doesn’t make it right. The Mayor of Detroit has set a bad example in Leadership, Marriage, and being someone the youth of today can look-up too. I thought this man could have been the Next Obama. Look at the President of the United States, he’s been doing Bad behavior since the year of 2000. The govenor of New York State, do you honestly think this kind of behavior is right. The whole city of Detroit is swirling around from the Mayor,to City Council, to News Anchorwomen. People seems to think that it ok to not follow rules or guidelines that are set before them, we have lost Structure, Morals, and VALUES, seems to be a thing of the PAST!!!!!!!!!

I am a resident of Detroit Michigan and the mayor was wrong. I voted for him to be in office. It is all about morals. He lied under oath and used his power to get those two officers fired. He tried to cover up the truth. It has nothing to do with who he had an affair with. I wish him the best and hope he does the right thing by the city. Go bless him.

Why can’t people who serve in public office do the right thing? It would be to everyone’s advantage to have honest officials with a sense of what is right and beneficial for the people they serve. Do they all lose there morals and financial responsibility when elected?
I really do not care that all public officials are grimy so give him a pass. I say give none of them a pass. They get enough breaks. A normal citizen would have been caught & would have paid the price by now. While Mr. Mayor uses taxpayers dollars to get the best & I mean the best defense that Detroits citizens can pay for & we all know that he is GUILTY. Detroit needs to impeach him & find someone else. The city is one of the worst cities with economics right now & we are worrying about Mr. Mayor. FORGET HIM & ANYONE WHO SUPPORTS HIS MESS.
