Hot 97 Fires Miss Jones

New York radio station Hot 97 has fired morning drive talk show host Tarsha Jones (Miss Jones) and replaced her with radio personality Big Boy and MTV Entertainment reporter Luscious Liz Hernandez. “Big Boy has an unmatched reputation for being entertaining… he also has great relationships with artists,” said Hot 97 programming director Ebro Darden. “Putting Big Boy on Hot 97 in New York City helps keep the high standard of radio happening for us.” According to Darden, Miss Jones will work all of next week which will allow her enough time to bid farewell to her listeners. “Miss Jones is one of the hardest working radio people I have ever seen and she made history with Hot 97,” said Darden. “Miss Jones will have the mic in mornings all of next week so that she is given her proper respect to tell her listeners how much she appreciates them and reminisce about how great this program has been.” Miss Jones was recently named in a federal lawsuit filed by New York lawyer Kevin Hunter. It claimed rival radio personality Wendy Williams and her husband tried to hire a hitman to knock her off.

Even though I’ve only heard snippets of Miss Jones’ show via podcast, I seriously doubt Big Boy will be able to pull in the ratings in NYC. Hot 97 IS NOT Power 106!!!!
Once again I wish that the writers of articles on this website would complete their stories. Why did “Miss Jones” get fired? Why was the federal lawsuit named as a reason behind her firing in this article? What is HOT 97 trying to gain by replacing her time slot with another DJ if she still has such a following that she requires time to let her fans down?
And people wonder why CNBC and MSNBC are among the leaders in reporting…possibly because they went to college to learn how to write a clear story!

In any event, Big Boy won’t work here. between him and Ed Lover laughing at his weak jokes for 30 minutes at a time down the dial, I might have to switch to Steve Harvey by default or pop in a CD in th morning. NY morning radio lost.

Listening to Ms. Jones and her team in the morning made my commute from PA to NYC rewarding. The diverse persectives were rewarding. There is always pros and cons to all issues.
BEING FROM CHICAGO, I OBVIOUSLY DID NOT LISTEN TO HER EVERY MORNING, BUT, I DID LIKE TO GET A LISTEN IN EVERY NOW AND THEN ONLINE. AND LIKE USHER SAID, SHE’S IGNORANT. I used to to be an avid 105.1 listener but it was because of her and her morning crew that i gave hot 97 another chance because with all those changes down the dial that station is wack!! I don’t know what im gonna do in the mornings now?? Cause i can’t stand Ed Lover or Steve Harvey Thank god for my Ipod 1010 wins for news and Weather!! Ed lover is verrrry “corny”. Steve Harvey started out corny, but he and his nephew do a few hilarious bits that keep me checkin in. Z100 has their moments. (They have the BEST TELEPHONE PRANKS ON RADIO). If they could limit the conversations/input with/of the self absorbed, spoiled rotten, “kool” impersonater, Carolina Bermudez. This is HOT 97’s chance to take over again. Not that I really care. Till then, I’ll switch back & forth with 107.5, & Z100. Mostly Z100. They play a variety of new music along with clever & silly humor. They don’t depend on disrespectful shock humor!

I remember Miss Jones when she first came out as a singer. Man - she use to look good, slim and curvy. I’m going to miss here. I stopped listen to the show, not as much, when Ebro got promoted and left the show. Ebro was good. As for Michael Sean and Envy, she could’ve picked a better team. I don’t think Big Boy is New York material. Hot 97 should go get Star and Buck wild. Star is funny and smart.

I thought that it was def a time for a change way too much negativity before breakfast. It’s never going to work with someone like Big Boi doing NYC radio for too long. I think it’s time for Hot 97 to give a NY comic like Rob Stapleton and Cipha Sound a shot to hold it down just like KISS did with Talent and Jeff Fox.
Hell yeah thats a great idea! Those two would be great because Ciph is a funny DJ and could bring people like Jay -Z and Beyonce back into the studio for live interviews and Rob Stapleton is one of the most popular comics in NY right now! He’s funny and quick with his improv.
i have lived alot of places and i have heard alot of morning shows and i can honestly say that miss jones’ show wasnt that funny. her insults were the best but how long can you insult people. once people stop coming to the show, she has nothing. i dont know if i wouldve went with big boi. maybe russ par out of dc.. that show is the funniest.

When star made those jokes and played that stupid sound effect she walked out and wanted no part of it and that is when she first quit that morning show out of respect for Aaliyah!So research before you speak! well the times i did listen to miss jones i enjoyed her and yeah everyone has their personal opinon about people at times and some r more harsh then others but oh well thats life deal with it. She was broadcasting live from Philly but this morning from some reason she wasn’t on and when I went on the 100.3 The Beat website her picture was gone and she wasn’t on the DJ staff list… I think her show got canned.

After exiting Emmis rhythmic WQHT (Hot 97)/New York on July 3, “Miss Jones in the Morning” has just been removed from the lineup of WPHI (100.3 the Beat)/Philadelphia. Monday morning (Aug. 4) was Miss Jones’ last day on the Radio One urban outlet, and her show, along with all of the players, has been replaced by “The Morning Beat” — an all-music morning show.
While on the air at Hot 97, Jonesy was heard simultaneously on 100.3 the Beat, and she has a reality show set to debut on BET. No word if her radio exit will affect her television program.
The music-driven direction in mornings on 100.3 the Beat will remain until further notice.
I’m glad she’s off Hot 97. She was horrible. She hated on anyone who was prettier than her (well that’s a whole lot of people : ) Maybe now she will have time to go to the gym and loose the 400 lbs. she gained
I really loved Miss Jones, and she will be sorely missed. I love Mrs.Jones in the morning when Iwould take my husband to work I would listen and laught so hard till I cry. . Some time that would make my day. It was something 4 a older crowed. I have been listening to hot 97 for over 15 years replacing miss jones is one of the dumbest things they ever did . Miss jones had the #1 show in NYC morning radio she should have replaced Big Boi. It is going to be hard to listen to hot97 with out her show.

With HOT 97 being one of the most influential arenas for the hip hop community, she was a big disappointment. I had the last straw when she blatantly told our young people NOT to vote for Obama. I very much believe in free speech and I respect everyone’s political decisions, but when you have a personality with so much power telling our young people to NOT vote for Obama because of her disagreement with one of his comments?!
That was utterly deplorable. Our youth need to be able to make their own decisions, but when most of them our African American and having an African American woman put down an African American presidential candidate as she did - I’m glad she’s gone.
She needs to stick to singing. Oh that’s right! No one bought her album. Oh well, I guess it’s back to her old job. When I drive up Miss Jones, can you do me one favor? - Don’t forget to ask me if want fries with that?

i think firing miss jones was a ridiculous thing to do i feel as though she was a real reporter, other radio host try to sugar coat everything but she kept it real and that is what the people need the truth even if it hurts. I live in L.A. and didn’t really have a chance to listen to Miss Jones. However, after seeing some of her videos on YouTube, I could see why she had a lot of haters. Hanging up on Christina Milion and making a song dissing Beyonce is totally not cool.

I use to listen to Miss Jones and I think she was the only one worth listening to now I have to listen to corney ass big boi or ed lover which I try to force myself to listen to because that all the hip hop stations that they are.
Although I read Miss Jone’s book and found it very interesting, I think she was very disrespectful to a lot of her guests on the show, mainly celebrity guests. Why have people on your show if you are gonna be ignorant and disrespectful to you guests, hanging up on people and going on. Come on now, be professional, act like a mature adult. Also, I think she hated on a lot of the female guests because she was jealous of them, of their looks, body, and/or success. I think she was especially jealous of a lot of the female singers because of how successful their careers are and her singing career didn’t work out after awhile. My advice to her to the next radio station she may work at is be more respectful to the guests on the show and stop being bitter and being such a big hater!!!
I frankly could not stomach her. She carried herself in the most ignorant package. My son would listen to the station and proabaly will continue (she wasn’t the draw- it was and always will be-the music) Her arrogant and hateful acid filled spew of hatred and negativity made we want to vomit on my car radio in hopes she would get wind of it and get sick herself and have to excuse herself while she vomited.(although chances are she wouldn’t even have the common sense to say, “excuse me while I throw up”) There would be just the sound of her gagging incoherently and heaving uncontrollably. As the little girl from the movie, “the Sixth Sense” said after she threw up…..”I feel much better now…” As do I and as will the listening public of HOT-97.
