Hot 97 Fires Miss Jones

June 28th, 2008

Tarsha Jones

New York radio station Hot 97 has fired morning drive talk show host Tarsha Jones (Miss Jones) and replaced her with radio personality Big Boy and MTV Entertainment reporter Luscious Liz Hernandez. “Big Boy has an unmatched reputation for being entertaining… he also has great relationships with artists,” said Hot 97 programming director Ebro Darden. “Putting Big Boy on Hot 97 in New York City helps keep the high standard of radio happening for us.”  According to Darden, Miss Jones will work all of next week which will allow her enough time to  bid farewell to her listeners. “Miss Jones is one of the hardest working radio people I have ever seen and she made history with Hot 97,” said Darden. “Miss Jones will have the mic in mornings all of next week so that she is given her proper respect to tell her listeners how much she appreciates them and reminisce about how great this program has been.” Miss Jones was recently named in a federal lawsuit filed by New York lawyer Kevin Hunter. It claimed rival radio personality Wendy Williams and her husband tried to hire a hitman to knock her off.

It’s time to bring Miss Jones back to THE NYC. Big Boi is so corny. Ebro must understand New York has an attitude and its NO LA attitude. Send Big Boi back to LA. There are so many other radio personally that couldof stepped up to the job. I think Ebro played the listeners! Keep it hood its a NY thing!

FINALLY!!!FINALLY!!!FINALLY!!!FINALLY!!!FINALLY!!!FINALLY!!!FINALLY!!!
This was seriously- SERIOUSLY OVERDUE! After she stop playing second fiddle to Star & Buck, she became so Hood and TACKY! LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS! I used to like her in 2000 but after that nonsence w/ Miss Info, Danity Kane and everyone else, she was JUST a FRESH HOTT MESS! Trying to prove a herself b/c of her lack of radio talent. She dumb down the listening population constantly!
AND TRUST….I’m SURE no one PUT A HIT on that piece of trash! She’s no COMPETITION!!! Give me a Break!!
FINALLY!!!FINALLY!!!FINALLY!!!FINALLY!!!

I really liked and respected Miss Jones, especially after reading her book.
She was honest, open and bold. Now, that’s a woman to emulate!

What kind of person wishes death on another human being? That is trifling. A person like that is a dangerous individual. We all are entitled to our opinion, but that to say that you hope the fat B***** dies is way over the top!
Be careful what you wish for someone else.

i wish you luck Ms Jones. i enjoyed listening to your show. you entertained me during my morning commute.. all of you haters, just shut up,, if you did not like her, you did not have to listen to her. you have choices of listening to ed lover’s corny laugh and steve harvey , and lots of other stations. i try every morning so hard to keep up with big boi and those luther lufaye pranks, i just can’t do it anymore. i’m so used to listening to Jonesy; big boi is not doing it for me. the whole hot 97 sucks now. Jonesy kept it real, she spoke her mind regardless of the situation. you suckers were afraid to see a beautiful black curvy female had so much power, saying whatever she felt like saying on the radio like that. understand that she was doing her job, so stop hating,, she is so good she got all of us talking about her now. those of you saying “it was about time” you wish you had her job. she will come back so strong, none of you will see it coming

NO ONE IS HAPPIER THAN ME. PLUS WHY IS EVERYONE SAYING THEIR NOT GOING TO LISTEN TO HOT 97 AGAIN WHEN THEY SAID THAT AFTER STARR AND BUCKWILD LEFT. MISS JONES JUST TOOK THEIR LISTENERS ANYWAY.

No need to listen to Hot 97 in the morning anymore, cause it went cold. WBLS here I come. Jonsey was HOT 97. Now that she is gone that’s dead. I will miss heer as well as Michael Shawn and DJ Envy. Lots of player haters out there. Miss Jones will always who she is Hot 97 or not. Your lost. LOOSER!

It’s about time.
She was one of the most irritatingly ignorant people to listen to.

With HOT 97 being one of the most influential arenas for the hip hop community, she was a big disappointment. I had the last straw when she blatantly told our young people NOT to vote for Obama. I very much believe in free speech and I respect everyone’s political decisions, but when you have a personality with so much power telling our young people to NOT vote for Obama because of her disagreement with one of his comments?!

That was utterly deplorable. Our youth need to be able to make their own decisions, but when most of them our African American and having an African American woman put down an African American presidential candidate as she did – I’m glad she’s gone.

She needs to stick to singing. Oh that’s right! No one bought her album. Oh well, I guess it’s back to her old job. When I drive up Miss Jones, can you do me one favor? – Don’t forget to ask me if want fries with that?

Peace!

I just wanted to say, I miss the morning line up with Ms Jones, I can not listen to Hot 97 anymore. I really can’t take the new line up, won’t waste my time. I not sure what happened, and we as a people don’t always have to agree. We need people who are not afraid to say or ask something because of who the artist is, sometimes that is the only way we can find out the truth, she asked the questions we wanted asked. I only came to the site, just to make my statement. Good bye

i think firing miss jones was a ridiculous thing to do i feel as though she was a real reporter, other radio host try to sugar coat everything but she kept it real and that is what the people need the truth even if it hurts. This country is trying to cover our eyes to the truth that is occurring around us, they try to keep us blinded to the obvious but miss jones always kept us informed and she removed the mask from our face and let us see the real. she executed the real meaning of freedom of speech and i will always respect her for that. SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING AS SHE WOULD SAY!!!!!!
