Imprisoned Vick Loses Another Legal Battle

Michael Vick

Imprisoned Vick loses another legal battle.

Suspended NFL quarterback Michael Vick will have to be flown back to Virginia so that he can plead guilty to state dogfighting charges at state expense. The hearing is scheduled two days before Thanksgiving. Surry County Circuit Judge Samuel E. Campbell denied a request by Vick’s lawyers that he be allowed to enter guilty pleas by videoconference from the federal prison in Leavenworth, Kan., where Vick is serving a 23-month sentence for a federal dogfighting-conspiracy crime. Although the judge says the law gave him full discretion in the matter, he said it was in the court’s and Vick’s best interests for him to appear in person Nov. 25. He also said the public would be better served if Vick actually showed up in person. Surry prosecutor Gerald G. Poindexter objected to the videoconference request, saying there was no specific language in Virginia law that addressed it. “It’s unprecedented; it’s never been done in Virginia anywhere,” Poindexter said after yesterday’s brief hearing in Sussex Circuit Court on the issue. “And I didn’t want Surry County to be groundbreaking in that sense. … There’s also the question of the public’s right to be present. The public would not be accommodated in a closed-circuit TV proceeding.” Vick’s case is being handled in Sussex because the Surry courthouse is undergoing renovation.

First and foremost Michael Vick I am sure that you have put your priorities in order by now. Once you are finished with the Justice System in these States, leave “Those” people and their ignorance OVER THERE….. Finally God has forgiven you. You do not need man to take you up because they will be the ones to take you down. Move on with life. I am lOOking forward to watching you play football again. KEEP RUNNING…. LIFE IS GOOD!!!!
Lots of LOVE, Carmen

everytime something happens it always comes down to race here and most the issue shouldnt be brought up plain and simple..he famous thats why the news of him is make’n news they aint goin to make the molester issue public or like this because the bit is not famous..and alot of things use to be legal back in the day but it does make it right for u to do them now and get away with it if its illegal now..plain and simple..

“The public would be better served”. Who are they kidding! They are not doing this for the public they are doing this for themselves. What is the point they are trying to make? People are still going to fight dogs no matter what happens to Vick. They are spending all this time and money on Vick for this so called crime, but want put this much time and effort in catching child molesters. This is one of the reasons the world is so messed up. People have their priorities in the wrong place.

Frankly speaking Said on

This is directed to Dave I don’t think that anyone is saying that what has happened with Vick is no one elses fault but his own, however I think that people are saying that the treatment Vick recieved through the media and justice system were and are racially biased. I know that white folks don’t want to admit that there is a two sided sword in the justice system as it relates to blacks. Recently in the area in which I live a white man and some of his family were convicted of dogfighting, numerous dead dogs had been buried on their property, dogs, drugs, money were all confiscated from the property, There was no autopsy done on these animals to determine the cause of death, which was done in the Vick case, of course the FBI never got involved and not did PETA, this never recieved national news coverage, and limited local coverage, and none of the defendants involved went to jail even though a couple of them had prior felony convictions, they all received fines and probation. Now I don’t know what you think but I think there is a difference. It shouldn’t matter that he is a sports star but what does matter is that all should be treated the same. And to suggest that white people take responsibilty for there behavior is a bunch of BS they always have an excuse for their behavior , be it they didn’t take there meds, or they had a bad childhood etc. Hell Jeffrey Dahmer killed people and had them for dinner and he did not recieve this much attention.

vic is done put a fork in him the only action he will see when he get out is on t.v.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never count Vic out. With the void of mobile quarterbacks in the NFL, I would not bet against the fact that he will have an opportunity to play once he has served his pentienece. Yes, that is strictly what this is. He was brought down, as is the case with many atheletes, but he can rise again, especially when yhe has skills.

no joke. give the guy a break. says that i serves the public to have the guy appear in person. to me it serves whatever their purposes are…another media frenzy. what other person do you know that has done something cruel to animals and had money that went through this much? its just silly. you have to pay for your crimes. i understand that…but when you’re serving your time and loose the amounts of money that Vick’s lost….when do you stop paying for things. crazy when actual murderers don’t go through this much or loose this much. O.J. had it better than this. is race a factor here? don’t really know…but its sure in the hell starting to feel that way.

Like T.I. said when you’re on top everybody is with you but take one fall and you’ll see who is really with you. I still love and respect Michael Vick

Mike should just serve his time, and when all this crap is over come and join the CFL we would gladly accept him in Canada, we took in Ricky Williams for a quick minute.

Michael Vic, thought he was above the law,. His behavior mirrored that of so many of the other black guys who rises out of nothing and establish themselves well financially.

He was foolish to try to lie. Obviously, he thought because of who he is, he would have gotten off with his immoral actions. Haven’t you learned yet that law enforcement and the judicial system of the whole is always tougher on black men. Michael should have confessed, apologized to those who fight so hard for animal rights and then pay a fine, volunteer some time to show good, and then take some pix to help this matter. He should have created a publicity stint around this whole matter, to try to put a spin on his tarnished image. This could have impacted the legal proceedings. Where were his publicist and legal advisers and for that matter friends who were smart enough to tell him to do the right thing. Again, instead of lieing, he should have confessed and try to save face, instead of continuing to ride high on his celebrity status thinking it would get him off.

I am tired of black men thinking they are above the law when they get a little money. Isn’t this why we ain’t talking about OJ they sentenced him to life but we are tired of his bold nonsensical behavior that got him just what he deserves. We were so glad to see him go free cause so many had doubts that one person could possible commit such a brutal crime with leaving much evidence. Then the disappointment, each time we turn around he was involved in something idiotic, now none will give him the time of day.

My thoughts for today.

A Black man is imprisoned for killing a couple of beasts (dogs), while a Caucasian man (Joe Horn) did not see one hour behind bars after he murdered two human beings. Yes they were criminals, but like the 911 dispatcher said to Horn, “property is not worth killing for”. Hopefully the members of that Grand Jury (Joe Horn’s Grand Jury) lost in Hurricane Ike.

This comes to know suprise, for all yall that dont know. Virginia as a state especially the police and court systems are one of the most racist, people and places on the eastcoast and if you dont beleave me try being black and driving through there then once you get a ticket for some BS try going to court and seeing what happends. So its only right that virginia brings Vick back to make a sceptical of another black man. They say they want to accomidate the public. WTF is that all about this is the 20th centry whats wrong with a video confference. My advise if your not white stay out of Va and Iam sure most virginia people would agrree, seeing as though they are a common wealth state who picks and choose what they want to do

charmer Said on

To The voice, you have got to be right, I have never heard of anything so ridiculous in my life, this has been a racial thing from the beginning, I have been reading other blogs in specific the Michael Vick Topix, and most of the people that write on that blog it is very apparent that they are racist, and most are from some part of Va.

charmer Said on

To The voice, you are absolute right, this entire thing has been racially motivated from the beginning. I have been reading other blogs in specific the Michael Vick Topix and most of the people that write on that blog are very racist, towards blacks in addition most come from some part of Va.
