Don Imus says that people are taking his latest controversial remarks out of context, but the Rev. Al Sharpton didn’t sound like he was buying it. “It has been reported to me that statements were made by Mr. Imus this morning, and National Action Network has monitored his show since his return,” Sharpton said in a statement. “I find the inference of his remark disturbing because it plays into stereotypes. Any use of stereotypes is always counterproductive. We will determine in the next day or so whether or not his remark warrants direct action on our part as we did in April of last year.” Imus, who was suddenly a well-known name in Black households after his infamous “nappy-headed hos” comment last year, says he definitely wasn’t dissing Dallas Cowboys D-back Adam “Packman” Jones when he asked “what color is he” after hearing that the baller had been arrested again. In fact, he says he was making a “sarcastic point” about racial injustice. “What people should be outraged about is that they arrest Blacks for no reason,” Imus told The Associated Press Tuesday. “I mean, there’s no reason to arrest this kid six times. Maybe he did something once, but everyone does something once.” Another racial controversy is the last thing that Imus can afford after his nine-month suspension after slamming the women on the Rutger’s Women’s Basketball Team in April 2007 with the nappy-headed hos remark. Many people, including Sharpton, initially called for Imus’ firing. The civil rights leader later said that Imus, who promised future sensitivity, had a right to forgiveness. Six months ago, Imus returned to the airwaves. During Monday’s broadcast, sports announcer Warner Wolf mentioned Jones’ run-ins with the law. That prompted Imus to ask, “What color is he?” Responded Wolf: “African-American.” Imus responded: “There you go. Now we know.” On Tuesday, Imus said he’d be crazy to be guilty of what he’s currently accused of. “How insane would I have to be? What would I be thinking?” Imus said. Jones told The Dallas Morning News in Tuesday editions that he’s upset by Imus’ comments and plans to pray for the radio host. Take this poll.
That man needs to keep his mouth shut or think before he opens it. Doesn’t matter what race he is speaking about, he just has a nasty mouth and needs to be off the air.
IMUS is a clever pain in the ass and whoever decided he should be paid to be on “the air” was just as ignorant as IMUS. Imus is thoughtless and inconsiderate. He is racist and arrogant. He needs to be taken off the air and black-balled so that he can never be paid money to be on the air again. I firmly believe that the people who are paying him to work on the air are also racist. What does it take to see and hear racism when it surfaces-come on people, wake up!!!!
How much more do we have to put up with this racist person. He knows exactly what he’s doing. And he meant it just how it sounded.
Imus is a pure racist and needs to be put off air for good. There is no changing his beliefs or the stupid racial things that comes out of his mouth. I hope Sharpton continues to investigate and pursue this matter and get him off air. He will continue to make his racial comments as long as he is on air. I don’t buy his explanation. Imus meant exactly what he said and is full of bullsh**.
Every old horse has his hey day, Mr Imus had his day when he was in his prime and people could not stop him because of his power. But like everything on this Earth, things have to change with the passing of time. Mr Imus is stuck in time, Mr Sharpton will let him know what day and year it is, and bring him up on how the times have changed .
IMUS is a joke, he doesn’t matter. Who even listens to him anymore? I thought he was dead already.
There is no way that Imus could’ve been taking up for that man. The only reason he tried to switch it like he was, was because he got caught. Him saying “There you go” had nothing to do with racial profiling. Racial profiling wasn’t even mentioned. They were talking about an athlete being arrested several times. He said “There you go” as if to say well, he’s black, so there you go. Not “The police was just messing with him”. Imus needs to be off the air for good!

For IMUS to make statements like the ones he did, he is smart enough and trained enough to know that he needed to follow up immediately in his next sentence with an explanation as to what he meant. He is a racist that TRIES to hide but he keeps saying what he really thinks and then trys to fix it. He is old as hell and his mind isn’t as sharp as it was younger so it’s harder for him to hide his racism, plain and simple.

Imus, has said something racist in 2007. What he does not understand is that, I myself being of the black race see’s that Imus has to be very careful of what he has and how he says it. You can not make statement or comments on anything. Everything you say will be held against you. People have not forgotten what he said and some feel as though he has not paid for the act in 2007. Imus they wanted your job and they will not stop listening and watching you until they do. See i being of the black race has always had to deal with watch what you say and how you say it. See it being the other way around is not so nice.
