Kennedy Collapses at Inauguration

January 21st, 2009

Sen. Edward Kennedy

Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) who worked feverishly to help get Barack Obama elected, collapsed Tuesday during the inauguration lunch in Washington, D.C. Authorities at the Washington Hospital Center said in a statement that the senator had suffered from fatigue but was recovering. “After testing, we believe the incident was brought on by simple fatigue,” Dr. Edward Aulisi. “Sen. Kennedy is awake, talking with family and friends, and feeling well.” President Obama expressed concern over Kennedy, who was diagnosed last year with a cancerous brain tumor. Kennedy was carried away in a stretcher after experiencing convulsions, according to a congressional aide. The president went over immediately. The lights went down, just to reduce the heat, I think,” said Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.V.). During the lunch, Obama described Kennedyas “a warrior for justice,” adding, “I would be lying to you if I did not say that right now a part of me is with him, and I think that’s true for all of us.”

Senator Kennedy’s endorsement of President Obama was very valuable and I hope he recovers well and beats this cancer. He was President Obama’s Senate mentor and they have a close relationship.

The Answer

When for a purpose I had prayed and prayed
Until my words seemed worn and bare, with
arduous use,

And I had knocked and asked again
And all my fervor and persistence brought
No hope,

I paused to give my weary brain a rest, and
cease my anxious human cry.

In that still moment, after self had tried and
failed, there came a glorious vision of God’s
power,

And, lo, my prayer was answered in that hour.

Amen Red Neck Hunter!! He has done great service to our nation and he needs to go and enjoy his family in the twilight of his life. Also, some of those other senators need to go home too because they are too old and need to give new blood a chance. Like the 91 year old man who was also escorted out of the luncheon yesterday. They should have put an age limit on this when Strom Thurmond died. I think he was 219 years old!!

Probably one of the best leaders of America!!!!!! – Still living……I wish him nothing but the BEST.

I think that there need to be limits on the age of senators too. After a certain age everybody needs to retire and allow new blood with fresh ideas to take over. There should be no senators over a certain age. There should be no long standing “club” of old wealthy people running the senate. Nothing lasts forever…

Yes, the Kennedy Family has always supported equality for minorities. I pray that he gets the rest that he needs. He’s done his part…now, like so many of you have stated, he should retire and enjoy the rest of his days with his family, friends and love ones. People, please proof read your blogs b4 submitting them. I don’t know how some of you passed English.. Geez Some of these comments have given me a serious migraine…Bush’s program “No Child Left Behind,” has obviously failed some of you.
