King Assassination Photos Made Public
April 6th, 2009
Ever since Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated more than four decades ago, photographs taken at the scene of the murder have languished in a Life magazine’s vault, never before viewed by public eyes. Now, the dozen or so black-and-white photographs, taken by Life photographer Henry Groskinsky, are available online. They include shots of King’s entourage gathered in the motel room of the civil rights leader and standing on the balcony. There are also photos of hotel staff cleaning up King’s blood. Read more.

Today is a new DAY!!!!!!!!!! OBAMA and ALL!!!!!!!!! I have been reading the comments on this site, and it can all be summed up very clearly.
People like David and Jakreeka are suffering from an ignorance that will never go away. Remember to teach YOUR children, so they KNOW!!!!!
Ignorance is a frightening thing, NOT TO KNOW……….think about it. They didn’t know when they crucified the Lord either, but they still have to pay for their deeds……..they didn’t know when Columbus sailed the ocean blue to discover America……that when they saw the Indians that they LIVED here!!!…..They didn’t know………They didn’t know……They didn’t know…ignorant!!!!……..Give them what they want…..Ignorance=IGNORE…so ignore them and continue the dialogue with the same dignity that Dr. King and all those who have believed have stood diligently to preserve. Pray for those who are spiteful, for they don’t know…. To each man and woman is given one chance, whether black, brown, yellow, red, or white………to define their own destiny……now where do you think they will end up?…IF…..THEY DON’T KNOW?…….
ignore them
People our dear beloved Martin Luther King has lift a lasting lagacy to all black, white, yellow and red..There’s no pictures that can change that unless ur totally clueless!!!!!!
you have to remember that the leader of the fbi was a %#@!!!!!!!!! so who r u to be little mlk .
You all need a Life stop worrying about David and Jareekas [Okay]
Regardless of the Allegations made about MLK. I respect MLK for embracing the struggle to make a difference.Fighting for equality for all races.Having strength to march relentlessly. The evidence the FBI have is not credible.Hoover had a grudge with MLK.Simply b/c he would not stop pushing for equal rights. If any one has researched for that time period. They also can agree that it was still segregated(very racist time period). They couldn’t make him stop. So, they all conspired to have him murdered. But, even today years later his memory lives on embedded in history forever. So, evil racist people can try to annilate his reputation.MLK was a normal human being probably with flaws like everyone else. But, he made a significant difference in society. That you can’t destroy.
Stop even responding to David and Jakreeka. First of all they are the same people and get a kick out of your responses. David is on ever BET comment Blog speaking negative about black people.
David you are everywhere on Our message Board. It’s OK you don’t have anything to do. If you would gone past 4th grade, you could get a job. Don’t worry, my tax dollars went to your Access Card. Have a nice weekendd Mr. Duke
In order to correct my grammatical error and not write like an imbecile like you, I should have typed “IF YOU WOULD’VE GONE PAST 4TH GRADE”. I was so appalled (that means upset and mad) by your rhetoric, I didn’t proofread.
Why would we want to see pic of one of our mrudered leaders committed by Eruopeans ,Why. What sene dose it make and what good dose it do? You don,t have anything potive to offer us ,but insdane Ideals
leave me alone, I gotta go take a doo doo
when all is said and done, we got a worthy afro american prez
in loving memory of an hero. he shows us the way of liberty, how to fight for a honorable liberty. he was a great man and in Africa we saw in him; a man of greatest value. please totaly respect to him.
King may have had some skeletons in his closet or he may not have, but no one these days can say anything about him because we made great strides by what we have thought about him from what we knew of him. Besides, with how things have been going with our African american brothers and sisters we should try to not put down someone but lift each other up and better ourselves to become someone better than what Marting Luther King was wether he is a great man or a man with great flaws. This is coming from a young person that only knows so much but wants something better for the generation than what we have.
For the people that are letting the photos be seen . . . . . thank you. Because it is not to be a tragic reliving of the scene but to educate some of the kids that only know so little of Martin Luther King that we have in the history books. When I see them on the Life site, it almost brings me to tears. Even if whatever the ladies name was could be speaking the truth, no one deserves to die like that. Let us not talk about him in a negative way or argue in hatred. . . . let us just remember him for what he was as we know him and let him rest in peace because only God can truly judge him.
No one is perfect. Yes Dr. King may have done some most people would disapprove of, but he did something that changed history. Something a lot of people were not brave enough to do. He did something that changed how we live our lives today and inspired many people. No matter what he deserves his recognition. Dr. King not only had an impact on African-Americans’ lives, but all minority groups. All Americans should see that as a great achievement. I saw some people were putting George Washington and Columbus ahead of Dr. King. These people were not perfect either. George Washington was on one of our founding fathers but he also didn’t consider African-Americans as his equal. Columbus killed countless Indians to satisfy his greed. He wasn’t too bright and he accidentally discovered “America.” He thought he was in the Indies. For the most part, all of our historical figures have been glorified and their flaws ignored. Dr. King is not unique when it comes to that.
