This is a sad day for Detroiters like myself. I agree, what he did is undeniably wrong, but I strongly feel making him shell out 1 million dollars in restitution and taking his pension he earned BEFORE he became Mayor is unjust. Even the Law degree he earned has minimal to do with his Mayoral office!
Just please pray for our City, our former Mayor of Detroit and his Wife and children.
Just plain bad judgment on his part. Black elected oficials cannot do what white elected officials do and get away with daily. Just look at the Enron mess? Those people did more than Kwame and are now living from the money they stole while “Cooking the Books!”. What about the President’s brother, and the Zero Coupon King of the 80’s, Michael Milligan, I think his name is? His being a lawyer, he should know by now that there are 2 laws, 1 for white folks and another set of laws for everyone else. I pray Detroit and MIchigan can heal from this ordeal. It is just tragic.
We as African Americans already have it hard and the people give us a little bit and we wanna run with it. He should have known to keep his nose clean and what’s done in the dark will come to the light. His sentence could have been alot worse. A million dollars is alot of money exspecially for those who don’t have it. But on the up and up hopefully he get it together. Good Luck!
