This is what thinking witcha johnson’ll getcha’!!! I know it wasn’t that good….It never is gentlemen, never!!! And heres the worst part, what happened to her?!?! He is now as of recent divorced as well. (Sigh)This n*gga here!!! When you start ascending to power in life it definitely becomes time to repent from the ‘old ways’. But as we are clearly seeing fools don’t learn sh*t till its too late. Its a tragedy man, such a brilliant young brother…..DAMN!!! What a waste of everything…
And to a lot of specific minded ‘people,’ this has nothing to do with being from the hood, a young hip hop mayor or whatever the hell else you a**holes want to ASSUME!!! This has to do with one man allowing power to corrupt his mind and soul. May God watch over that family, Amen.
This is really sad My heart goes out to his family. Maybe now the city can let go and move on for this have been in the news for sometime and I had read about him in Ebony when he was first put into Office. It a lesson learn when you are voted in by the people you are held to a higher standard with how you behave. In Office you better be walking the walk you are talking about. He young and he will come back even better. The City really need to forgive him and stand behind him. Ok he mess up we heard it over and over again. Let move on now it a new day and a new beginning. Over half in Office always mess up very few get found out.
I don’t feel that they should have pushed him out of office. Ken Cockrel finally got his way (GOD help us all) How is it that former Mayor Kilpatrick has to pay this high price for lying under oath but yet Marion Barry was still mayer even after he was caught on video smoking crack!? Detroiters were too focused on this man’s personal life, which is what made him perjure himself on the stand to begin with. I personally did not want to see any “text messages” between him and Ms. Beatty. It’s also not my business if he cheated on his wife or not. That is between him and his wife, not the city of Detroit to judge him on.
my prayers are with him and his family. however i can’t help but ask myself does the punishment fit the crime. there are people whom do a lot worst and get off a lot easier.
Damn…all that just for some booty…
They might as well had given him the death penalty. They took away his employment, his money, his freedom, and once he’s free again his ability to earn money.Does the punishment realy fit the crime.I wonder how many of the people involved in the proceedings have the same skeletons in their closet. At the same time he’s probably lost his wife already,so it didn’t do him any good to not own up to the affair. If you gonna be a playa, keep it real at all times.Ice water veins, and a short thresh hold for emotions.
ITS A SHAME THIS DUDE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN HE WAS ONLY GONNA BE AS POWERFUL AS THEY LET HIM HE GOT GREEDY FORGETTING THAT HE WAS A BLACK MAN IN POLITICS AND TRIED TO DO WHAT CORPORATE WHITE AMERICA HAS BEEN DOING FOR YEARS AND NOW ITS OVER. HE SHOULD HAVE DECIDED A LONG TIME AGO IF HE WAS GOING TO BE IN POLITICS HE WAS GOING TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF AN OPPORTUNITY ALOT OF YOUNG AFRICAN AMERICANS WOULD EMBRACE. I DONT FEEL SORRY FOR HIM AND I HOPE HE GET EVERYTHING HE DESERVES FOR SCREWING OVER THE CITIZENS OF DETROIT ITS HARD ENOUGH WITH THE FACTORIES BEING SHIPPED OVERSEAS
ON THE EVE OF AN HISTORICAL ELECTION…KWAMEE RESIGN…MAYBE FOR THE GOOD. WHO KNOWS. STILL LIKE HIN THOUGH. IF WE ADMITTED ALL OF US HAVE OUR MOMENT OF INDISCRETION. GOD BLESS KWAMEE AND HIS FAMILY AND THE GREAT CITY OF DETROIT
I agree with Pat. The punishment does not fit the crime and although we need to take perjury seriously and should treat it seriously , I feel that the fine was sufficient punishment for that. The jail time and him having to leave office is overkill. What happened between him and Ms. Beatty is a personal matter and should be resolved between him, his wife and God. My prayers go out to him and his family. Detroit citizens, keep your head up!!! Good luck with your next Mayor.
Na matter white or black there are men they lust like a regular man and I feel this was more politicaly driven hell bush lied on national TV and still has a job!!!!
Go Figure!!!!
This reminds me of a saying, “Don’t let your LITTLE head rule your BIG head.” The Mayor brought his own demised. I wish him and family better days Prayerfully the City of Detroit can begin to really heal.
Where does this now leave Beatty?
THIS IS JUST ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO A BLACK WHEN HE BECOMES A THREAT TO A WHITE MAN…… WHO CARES IF HE HAD AN AFFAIR THAT’S BETWEEN HIM, HIS WIFE, AND GOD!!!!! THEY ARE TRYING TO TAKE AWAY HIS MANHOOD. THEY TOOK HIS PENSION AND HE HAS TO PAY A MILLION DOLLARS? PLEASE DONT BE FOOLED THEY DONT CARE IF HE HAD AN AFFAIR THEY ARE MAD BECAUSE HE DONE EXACTLY WHAT THE WHITE MAN HAS DONE ( CAN WE SAY BILL CLINTON) HE LIED TO THE WHOLE COUNTRY AND DIDN’T GO TO JAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GET THE PICTURE????
I really think, the media is blowing this entire situation out of perportion. Being that I am a native Detroiter. I no this man, did the best he could for the city. The city was in really bad shape before kwame got into office. He pulled together as best as he could.. When you really have no resource or big business willing to do business with your city.. Ok, I no he was wrong for cheating he’s not the first and I’m sure not the last.. But, keep in mind he is the first BLACK! Clinton did the same thing, you did not see his text message splattered on the front page of the news, he did not have to shell out million bucks either.. Now, he deserve to be punished, but not to this extreme!! Treat him like you treated Clinton the freaking PRESIDENT!
Justice is blind not deaf. This has nothing to do with race or the kinds of music one enjoys listening too. “YALLS BOY” as his mother once quoted messed up and he can only point his thumb to himself. He lied and got caught. A lot of people in Detroit really loved him and what did he do? Smacked them in the face, so they (the people) couldn’t fight for themselves they outsmarted him and he got smacked on his A$$ instead of on his hand. Does the punishment fit the crime SURE DOES. Look at how much money Detroit has had to pay out since he has been in office and people and their families are still trying to sue the city for more. His pension and the $1 Million is nothing compare to what Detroit lost. For the rest of you Kwame geniuses, he went out smacking, he said that if Detroit didn’t sell the Winsor Tunnel city workers would be out of a job, well how in the world could he give raises to over 10 people and I mean good raises. GO FIGURE!
I don’t know what all he may have done for the city but comparison can not be made to him and the President (nor former President). Let’s be realists here…He is a BLACK man in a position of power. When you are at the top there is always someone below you trying to get what you have. He got caught with his pants down, literally.
After reading the article, he knew he would be caught and tried to impeed that process by trying to deter police investigator. Hence, that is the point of corruption. At this point, instead of confessing his wrong-doings, he continued with the corpution of deception an impeeding investigation.
He cost the City millions of dollars from lawsuit settlements and the total is still growing with more lawsuits in the pipeline. The punishment fits the crime.
i don’t think he deserved all of that. yes the man made some wrong choices but who hasn’t. to strip him of his las license. this man has a family with kids. how is he suppose to support his family. i think they are just amking examples out of the man people now days to let us know they are still in charge and hold our life in their hands. it is enough to pay such a large amount of money and then i cannot work and make a decent salary since that is what is he forced to do now. if he were white, would the punishment been this HARSH!! NOT
it always seems like once you make it to the top, the enemy always finds a way to bring you back down and said to say that thats just how it is and seems like it will continue to be
People, People, please wake up. We all understand that he has children but what about the people’s children that he did wrong too? What about the people he wrongfully fired, what about the children who no longer have a mom OK. Get off this thing about him being black and can’t do what the white man do. Hell, if you know that it is wrong I don’t care if the person is white, red, green or blue you don’t have any business trying to do what you know is wrong. Now hold on, I can see if he was just a peon somewhere and just did it out of stupidity, not knowing. We are responsible for what we know and what we do with what we know. This man knows the Law, he has or had License to practice Law so it’s not what the white man does and no i’m not white, it’s what choices we make with our own lives. Think about this, I was taught as a teenager that it takes a person less than 2 minutes to make a decision that could mess a person up for the rest of their life. You know when people are watching you and you also know when people are wanting you to fail, some of us call it gutt feelings, some say the Holyspirit and after we mess up some of us even say “Man Something” told me not to do it, especially if you are of color. We know about that “crab in the bucket” saying so be better than what people expect whether it be good or bad expectation. Do well for yourself, make God proud, yourself and the rest will fall in there place.
We all have made mistakes. His mistake was not realizing that what you do in the dark will come out in the light. Overall he may not be a bad person but he definitly made some bad choices. The real question is did he learn from his mistake or is he just sorry he got caught?
who ever this judge is will pay a high price for what he did to the mayor God don’t like ugly .this is not fair at all , its like they want him to be m usable for the rest of his life .they did not want him to be the mayor the people choose him they make sure they got him and leave broke for the rest of his life .
