Lil’ Wayne Says He’s Addicted To Codeine

March 3rd, 2008

Rapper’s handlers fear for his life
Lil’ Wayne says he indulges in the popular and dangerous southern practice of drinking Lil' Waynecough syrup to get a codeine high – and no one should expect him to quit. The recent death of Wayne’s fellow southern rhymer Pimp C was ruled an accident, due to codeine and a sleeping sickness. But Weezy says he doesn’t even want to hear the warnings. At a recent concert, Wayne vented: “Everybody wants me to stop all this and all that. It ain’t that easy. …You gotta learn how to stop, you gotta go through detox. You gotta do all kinds of stuff. Like I said, I’m a selfish-ass ni**a. I feel like everything I do is successful and productive. It’s gonna be hard to tell me I’m slipping… ‘This ni**a is making progress. He just went and talked to kids and that sh** was amazing.’ Feel me? So what am I doing wrong? Let me do me. Everybody’s got their thing. Why focus on me? Don’t compare me to no one. Don’t compare me to no one who has passed, and why they passed. I can walk out this b**ch right now and get hit by a bus. Don’t judge me. You wanna judge me? Put on a black gown and get a gavel. Get in line with the rest of them that’s about to judge me. I got court dates every other month.”

I have a question…SINCE WHEN DID CALLING A SPADE A SPADE BECOME HATING? Since when did expressing concern about the psychological well being of our youth become envious hate? You simple minded blind sheep following the blind are fricken incredible. Really…you are IN-CREDIBLE. This means that what you say is so ridiculously DUMB that it possesses no merit.

I’m willing to bet that you dummies feel that Talib Kwali, Common and Most Def are “soft” because they don’t glorify dumb irresponsible behavior. Go ahead and dumb it down dummies. When you are on the outside looking in, don’t complain because nobody is going to hear you blissfully ignorant fools! Don’t fight good sense and embrace nonsense. THAT’S DUMB!

BET! why did you chumps change my name to booboo! Come on Now!

This is a sad situation, however the bible clearly states that we are living in a world that is corrupt and we fight against the darkness of this world. I pray that God will continue to bless him and give him direction and wisdom and discernment. I also pray that Jesus will touch him and open his eyes and bring him into the marvelous light. We can not judge him because God is the only one that can judge, however; we can pray that these young people who are in the lime-light will be role models not just for the media but for their own children as well.

Wayne is a survivor, He’s very intellegent, and i believe hopefully sooner than later something in his head will click, and He’ll once again see the light…I think he’s become a victim of his enviornment. I think KATRINA (rip to victims) Proved what type of SOLDIERS come from the N.O.
So Wayne, Til U ready to throw up that soldier rag again, 1 thing is true god gave you a god given talent just us it as HE!! see fit. Much Luv to a TRU HOT BOY!!! La. still Luv Ya Boo!!

LIL WAYNE IS RIGHT NO ONE CAN JUDGE HIM. MY THING IS I HAVE A 16 Y/O SON WHO LOVES THE HELL OUT OF LIL WAYNE. WHEN YOU HAVE YOUNG KIDS LOOKING UP TO YOU AS HE AND OTHER KIDS DO, I THINK YOU SHOULD BE AN EXAMPLE FOR THEM. SHOWING THEM THAT REGARDLESS OF HOW YOU WERE RAISED, YOU CAN STILL BE SUCCESSFUL. LIL WAYNE MAY NEED HELP AND UNTIL HE IS READY TO GET IT, NOTHING CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT BUT THINK ABOUT THE KIDS (HIS KIDS AS WELL). IT IS LIKE HE IS GLORIFYING THE FACT THAT HE DRINKS SYRUP (ON THE STREETS IT IS CALLED WATER) AND THAT IS NOT COOL AT ALL. SO, NOW KIDS IS GOING TO THINK DRINKING SYRUP (IF THAY AREN’T ALREADY DRINKING IT) IS COOL. COME ON OUR KIDS IS THE FUTURE. LET’S GIVE THEM SOMETHING POSITIVE TO LOOK FORWARD TO.I AM NOT DOWNING RAPPERS BECAUSE BY ME HAVING TEENAGERS, I DON’T WNAT THEM TO THINK THIS IS COOL WHEN I AM CONSTANTLY ON THEM ABOUT DOING DRUGS OF ANY SORT.

LIL WAYNE IF YOU FIND IT IN YOUR HEART SOME POINT DOWN THE ROAD, GET SOME HELP BEFORE IT DESTROYS YOU. I ACTUALLY HAD A FRIEND THAT NEARLY KILLED HIMSELF BY HITTING A TREE BECAUSE HE WAS SO HIGH OFF THE SYRUP AND I WAS LIKE IN MY 20′S THEN. SO THINK HOW POTENT IT IS NOW AND I AM 40 NOW.
I AM NOT JUDGING LIL WAYNE BUT I WILL BE PRAYING FOR HIM.

The comments here are funny. Much is required of people that have a lot and Wayne has more than the average person. Its unfortunate that young black men look up to him but thumb their noses at average men in the black community that are doing the right thing. Everyone has problems his status does not make him exempt. What makes him different from any other addict star NOTHING. Black people need to stop defending the Waynes and R Kelly’s that are making us look like fools and criminals around the world.

Lil Wayne is no better than anyone else, if he didn’t have the money and fame it wouldn’t matter. He is just a regular person that the public has made into a “star” but when it all boils down, Who Really Cares????

2 each his own, but if u r a rolemodel u should live up 2 it, if u don’t then stop being a rolemodel, u know!!

JuDave Said on

po up a 4 in a 1 liter, po u a cup, and sip.U might understand dat boi a lil mo, know im talkin bout

UP N UP Said on

Real talk he has been making a lot of progress. Yea he might have problem but so do plenty of people in the world. To judge him based on his issue is neither fair nor is it just unless you were to condemn every other person with the same problem just like you do him. I’m not saying it’s right that he doesn’t attempt to get help, but it isn’t right to judge him, call him a bad person, etc. He does what he has to do to maintain his occupation as an entertainer and still tries to do what good he can. And that’s not calling Talib Kweli, Common, or any of those “new gen” rap artists soft. The rap world is dynamic and always changing. New styles are going to come and change the game. In the end, We all gonna do what comes naturally to us and although it may not be healthy, Lil Wayne does know what works for him just like other artists do what works for them.

Trane Said on

Changing my name in the middle of my post has got to be illegal BET. If not, it should be. Screening posts just because you don’t agree with them is soft BET (whoever the soft chump is). I would love to meet up with whoever you are you byych!

LET DAT MAN LIVE HIS LIFE..HE AIN’T PERFECT NOBODY IS…IT ALOT OF PEOPLE ON DRUGS DES DAY AND IT DON’T MAKE IT RIGHT BUT PEOPLE LEARN FROM THEIR MISTAKES

Sigh Said on

OK… Listen to his music! This is no surpise. He raps about it all the time.

Do you hear his words? “It ain’t easy…” means he has at least tried and has/is still considering the option. “You gotta learn how to stop, you gotta go through detox” says he is knowledgable in the battle.

The man lives on a stage and every movement is judged. He is judged daily, hourly… he faces the music (no pun intended), so he is saying the public blows words of judgement but the courts are the only words that can effect his world. He face bigger judges than you.

To know him is to know his heart. That of a man, a father and a friend. Do you stand in any of these shoes?

Give love and prayers and he will be fine.

i am a HUGE lil wayne fan. and i feel that he is the only REAL rapper that we have right now.
and yeah, i agree that he should make BETTER choices- not only 4 himself, but 4 his friends and family as well. there are so many young people like myself that look up 2 lil wayne…i am a 16 year old chick with a tight rap game… and all i ever wanted was 2 make music with lil wanye… so PLEASE dont give up on weezy just yet… this HIS life NOT OURS so do me and lil wayne a huge favor, and stay off his back!!!!!!!!

keith Said on

a thats some real stuff wayne said so forget everybody who against him

MJ Said on

I don’t think the people making comments about wayne drug problem are dissing or judging, but showing concern about another black brotha with so much talent can be lost in the statistics already placed on Black Americans. I pray for our future, I pray that one day we, “black People” can see that it more to life and so much opportunity. Especially those that are out in front of the camera.
