I’m not downplaying the hurt of a mother losing her son but it says he shot FIRST. If he did,how do u believe the officers should have reacted? I am a black mother with a son that has been incarcerated for 18 years & I have seen loss & violence far too much. LIsten young people I love you and I am praying for you but you have got to wake up a take some responsibility for some of your actions! The least little incorrect thing that you do is going to be blown out of porportion because of your race & because Satan is out there trying to kill, rob, & destroy young people’s lives, you’ve got to be smarter & wiser & be aware of his tactics. Over kill is an under statement. The trigger happy police is what they should be tag. What possible reason they had to plug the brother 39 times is beyond comprehesion. There surely need to be an inquiry as soon as humanly possible.

As I read the comments posted with regard to this topic, I’m saddened by how naive some of them are…not that it surprises me. I am a police officer and have been for some time, there have been times where I have almost had to shoot someone myself, and from experience that is never a good feeling no matter what color the person is. When an officer shoots a suspect their lives are forever changed. The overwhelming majority of officers never have to use their weapons, but the time one of us does, there is this extreme public outcry.

Do I believe all officers have the public good at heart…absolutely not! Do I believe that there are times when a persons own actions put them in danger of being harmed or even killed by police…absolutely YES! My heart also goes out to this man’s mother, I cannot imagine what she must have experienced having to witness something like that, but this is an accountability issue. I’m not sure what he was doing to bring police attention to himself, I’m not sure why he had a gun on him, and I definately don’t know what made him think that he would not be shot dead for shooting at police officers. CAN I GET A SHOW OF HANDS FROM ALL WHO BELIEVE THIS WAS A GOOD MOVE ON HIS PART???

Just in case anyone has a problem with what I’m saying, let me just say that you will never get it because your job does not put you in harms way every single second of your shift like mine and every other police officers does. Experience and training demands that if you see a suspect with a weapon, and especially if that suspect fires that weapon at you, you use whatever force necessary to eliminate the threat. That does not mean ONE officer will shoot at him…that means every officer who has his weapon pointed at him will more than likely shoot at him in order to prevent him from endangering anyone…this includes police officers and innocent bystanders who do not deserve to be harmed because this person made an ignorant decision.

I am really upset that they shot him up like that….But the fact is…he fired first. They should have shot him in the leg or something….But on a real…If I was a police and a criminal shot at me I would make sure I get him in the head.

Its not rite and I know like everybody else knows that nothing is going to happen to those cops who killed that boy. When you have a situation like this, the police should shoot to disarm and not shoot to kill, I am sorry But if someone shoots at 1 person 39 times they mean to kill that person. This seems to be an ongoing issue with these cops, I dont think that it is racially motivated but it is just a cop thing, the law is on their side regardless. I think that police officers should be punished for using excessive force such as this, you cannot tell me that you will allow cops to shoot at and individual 39 or 50 times and not find that willful and down right heartless. It only takes one good shot to disarm a person, not 50, 60, or 70. Seriously. He was shooting to kill!!!! You don’t shoot at police officers unless you have a death wish. I’m not trying to make light of this situation at all. I have four children who I love dearly. Sometimes its our children that are causing our pain. In this case, I feel he is the cause of his family’s pain. I’m going to pray for him and all of the families involved. I am a mother and I only can say “Lord please be with this family and give them the strength to move on, but not to forget the senseless acts of others”. This is extremely disappointing but normal police are not the people that I for one feel comfortable with. All officers aren’t horrible but the reality is majority are power driven, and racist even some of the black ones lets be truthful. Growing up with police selling drugs with the drug dealers than waving as if we don’t know. I’d like to send my condolences out to the families affected by this tragedy. The mother, and the officers’ family, because they have to live with this for the rest of their lives. However, so many of these comments relate the situation to the deceased being black, how do you know the officers are not black as well? But my main point in even commenting is, as minorities, we like to assume everything that happens to us is because of our race and/or ethnicity. We never look at ourselves and our own faults. We never ask ourselves, “why do white women feel like they have to clutch their bags when a a non-white man walks by them” or why do white people dread when we walk into the movies or store? Could it be that a majority of our people have given them reason to do the things they do? And not everybody that robs and steals does it because they gotta go what they gotta do. They do it because its easier than getting their butts up and out on a job. And I’m sorry, Obama can’t change who we are. Black, blue, white, or purple! We have to do that for ourselves, our community, our children! We make up such a large portion of America’s population, yet we have the highest disease rate, murders, incarceration, etc. White people don’t MAKE us do anything. And one last thing, comments like the ones made by “fardxx” on here are a perfect example of how we are in a mental incarceration. Now if a white person would have got on here and made comments like that about us, we would have every NAACP, Reverand, news anchor on the horn claiming racism. To the mother who lost her son may he rest in peace. There are a lot of good cops & there a lot bad ones too. The point here is he shot at the cops first. Our community has so much distrust & hostility towards the police that even our own who become cops feel the wrath. Remember the two officers that got ambushed in Atlanta. They both were black officers, family men that lost there lives. First I would like to say I feel so sorry for the clark mother to have to witness the death of her son. It makes me angry that police can get away with such a brutal crime. To shoot a man 39 times is ridiculous and a outright crime that should not be consider justified. One shot could have disarmed him but to kill a man infront of his mother and family is not justice but murder. I am from the deep south and this is something we see everyday but if we as black people would stand together a crime like this by the police would not go on without them be proscecuted and sent to prison.

As an African American women who is soooooo tired of hearing about my brothers being shot down, I’m also tired of hearing about unnecessary deaths due to some of these brothers trying to show that they are hard or tough.
