Man Killed By Atlanta Police Had 39 Bullet Holes

A man who was killed in a shootout with Atlanta Police in July had 19 bullet holes in his chest and back, 12 in his legs, six in his arms and one each in his neck and butt, an autopsy report obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution shows. The family of the victim, Montellis Clark, has claimed that an officer stood over Clark and blasted away. Although the 39 bullet wounds would seem to suggest excessive force, they did not necessarily confirm that particular account, reported the newspaper, which obtained the autopsy report through an Open Records Act request. Dr. Karen Sullivan of the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office, who performed the autopsy July 16 – the day after the shooting – said that some wounds were likely caused by the same bullets that passed through one side and out another. Police say that Clark fired the first shots, firing at police outside an Atlanta home after being told to pull his hands out of his pockets. Two officers, Clarence Tosh and Gregory Dubose shot back, hitting his 25-year-old brother in the back. Clark’s mother, Melissa Clark, witnessed the incident but was not wounded. Interviewed by the Constitution-Journal, Melissa Clark said, “It didn’t take that many shots. Once he was shot, that was enough.” She told the paper that she did not want to know how many times her son was shot.
i agree with the mother once he was shot the first time there shouldn’t have been anymore shots fired!
What I don’t understand is, why is it with Black people it is always “shoot to kill” and with others (whites), rubber bullets or bean bags are used???
I remember reading awhile back, an African man in Minnesota with a knife or sword being shot like this, but when its the white man with the AK-47, he’s pelted with bean bags til he drops the gun.
What up with that???
RKG147 thank you for everyday that you put your life on the line. Thank you for getting up for work DAILY, even with the negativity that follows your job. Thank you for finding a way to do your job even when people find fault because you have the COURAGE to do what none of them will. Thank you for coming back when you’re not getting paid enough to put up with all of the bs that comes along with your job. Thank you for everything you do that allows my children and I to be safe. I want to first send my condolences to the mother/family. I am a mother and I only can say “Lord please be with this family and give them the strength to move on, but not to forget the senseless acts of others”. I agree with the comment from: Diana Mullins said on September 4th, 2008. Thank you for caring and speaking out, your words means so much to me and should also to others. Thank you enough for making your statement, because it is true…things are going to get worse before they get better. We have to save ourselves.

No other race has ever been shot 39 times for shooting at the police once. In that case everyone that shoots at them should be shot 39 or 40 times. This is just racist and unacceptable. What about the black men that are shot that many times when they don’t even have a weapon? Just the other day a white man in Washington state went on a shooting spree in his town & killied 6 innocent people, including a sherriff deputy, but he still survived that. Yes, there is black on black crime, but the police are supposed to show better judgement.

Why is it when I try to blog it doesn’t show my comment as posted & so I have to keep trying to submit it either whole or in sections, and it is very time consuming. Sometimes the comments get posted, sometimes they don’t. This is frustrating BET. What’s up?
This is extremely disappointing but normal police are not the people that I for one feel comfortable with. All officers aren’t horrible but the reality is majority are power driven, and racist even some of the black ones lets be truthful. Growing up with police selling drugs with the drug dealers than waving as if we don’t know. Sends us the wrong message a dirty cop is the worst position because he or she thinks that that badge is their way to do as they pleases. First we must gather around mrs. Clark she is suffering and no words will heal her but honestly just the gesture and love from it will help . I’m praying for her but how do she get over this is the city of atlanta helping her or are they just trying to cover the officer’s &#@. We all know the answers to that i’m so angry about this and I live in Ohio but just to know that one of god’s creations has been taken away because of trigger happy cops is sad. And if I wasn’t sad about Mrs. Clark’s loss than I would be just as heartless and ignorant ass the atlanta police department. Let’s stop trying to be politically correct and just be correct.
I’d like to send my condolences out to the families affected by this tragedy. The mother, and the officers’ family, because they have to live with this for the rest of their lives. However, so many of these comments relate the situation to the deceased being black, how do you know the officers are not black as well? But my main point in even commenting is, as minorities, we like to assume everything that happens to us is because of our race and/or ethnicity. We never look at ourselves and our own faults. We never ask ourselves, “why do white women feel like they have to clutch their bags when a a non-white man walks by them” or why do white people dread when we walk into the movies or store? Could it be that a majority of our people have given them reason to do the things they do? And not everybody that robs and steals does it because they gotta go what they gotta do. They do it because its easier than getting their butts up and out on a job. And I’m sorry, Obama can’t change who we are. Black, blue, white, or purple! We have to do that for ourselves, our community, our children! We make up such a large portion of America’s population, yet we have the highest disease rate, murders, incarceration, etc. White people don’t MAKE us do anything. And one last thing, comments like the ones made by “fardxx” on here are a perfect example of how we are in a mental incarceration. Now if a white person would have got on here and made comments like that about us, we would have every NAACP, Reverand, news anchor on the horn claiming racism. Being a racist is wrong, either way it goes. God wants us to LOVE everybody, not pick who you love based on their COLOR. May God Bless all of you.
This has to stop. it does not take that many shots to take one man down. i really feel sorry for the family. it is horrible. The cops keep getting away with this type of treatment and i think its wrong.

Man thats crazy i can understand the fact that the officers shot at him because he didnt want to take his hands out his pocket and shot the first shot but to be shot that many is jus plain CRAZy but we all know nothing is really going to be done about it
