Match my Fly: G1 Android Apps
May 11th, 2009By Angela Benton, BlackWeb20.com
Last week we wrote about Top Mobile and Web Apps You Should Have, a comment from Dauche reminded me that we totally missed out on Apps for the G1! This week’s list is a little early but is devoted solely to G1 Apps outside of the usual suspect for social networking: fBook, MySpace, Twidroid, and iMeem. The list is based off of top downloads for Android from aTrackDog. Enjoy!
Music
Last.fm
You thought Pandora was nice?! Last.fm can easily hold its own in the personal radio department, and it doesn’t hurt that you can also find out about concerts on the app, too.
Shazam
Helps you identify music wherever you are, then allows you to store songs via tagging them and optionally buy them.
Pimpin’
Ringdroid
Create Ringtones from songs stored in your library on the device or create your own from scratch.
Backgrounds
The #1 background app for iPhone and G1…need we say more. It even includes a wide range of photos from photo sharing site Flickr.
Texting
SMS Popup
A straight forward app that shows a pop-up when an incoming text is received along with the contact’s pic.
TextEasy
This app makes it easy to send mass text messages to a select group of people or a group, and it also allows you to set a signature in your text. While a must for avid texters, this app is known to freeze.
Photo/Video
SnapPhoto
App that can detect stability to help you take the best pics.
Video Recorder
Record, play, or delete camera video. Additionally, allows you to convert to MP4 and share via Gmail.
YouTube Downloader
The name of this app is the best description for what it actually does. Easily download your favorite videos from YouTube to your device.
Runnin’ the Streets
Cab4Me
A great way for jetsetters to find a cab in whatever city you may be in. Cab4Me shows taxi stands in your proximity and a list of local cab companies with additional info like payment methods and car types. If a cab company is not in the database a web search is performed.
Just4Fun
Gmote 2.0
Turns your phone into a remote control for your computer, allowing you to start and control movies and music at a distance. You can also control PowerPoint, PDF, image slideshows. Gmote also makes it fun to navigate and launch Web sites all from your G1 using it as a WiFi touchpad/keyboard.
