MC Breed is dead at age 36. Months after he reportedly collapsed on a basketball court due to a kidney ailment, rapper MC Breed has died. The Flint, Mich. native who recorded with West Coast rap stars including Too Short and Tupac was hospitalized in September and placed on life support before recovering. It was reported that he was still in need of a transplant. Born Eric Breed, the rapper whose biggest hit was “Ain’t No Future in Yo Frontin’,” was found dead this past weekend at a friend’s home. Although I didn’t know the man or his music, prayers and condolences to his family, friends, and fans. Kidney failure is a silent epidemic within the African American community. The main cause for us is undetected and unmanaged hypertension. The second cause is diabetes. There are more than 20 million americans walking around with reduced kidney function and dont know it according to the National Kidney Foundation and the American Association of Kidney Patients. Please my bros and sis, go get checked before its too late. Love to you all!

when i heard the news my stomach dropped. Im from Battle Creek which is like an hour away from Flint so I grew up listening to Breed. I just talked to Breed in sept about doing a Track on my new album and even in his bad state he was ready to do it. I feel “heatrbroken” cause the main person i looked up to growin up and was going to work with now as a man is gone. Rest in peace Eric.

RIP to my cousin MC Breed! I remember the first time I met him in Kirbyville, Texas back in ‘97! He gave me his autograph and we Kicked it the whole night. A lot of people didn’t believe that we were cousins but we really were; his roots stemmed down to Texas and we were related on his Dad and my Dad’s side of the family. I remember taking his autograph to Prairie View A&M University and hanging it on my dormitory wall! He was a cool dude and because of him there is no future in my frontin!

MC Breed will truly be missed! He was one of the gifted individuals who were able to give people joy through music. He is from the Hip Hop Era that formed the way the music would be produced and lyrics would be delivered for a decade. I know personally, when I was DJing, his music was a crowd favorite at the hall parties of the 90’s, and he was one of many artists who put the Mid-West on the map, first!
