MC Breed Dead At Age 36

November 24th, 2008

MC Breed is dead at age 36. Months after he reportedly collapsed on a basketball court due to a kidney ailment, rapper MC Breed has died. The Flint, Mich. native who recorded with West Coast rap stars including Too Short and Tupac was hospitalized in September and placed on life support before recovering. It was reported that he was still in need of a transplant. Born Eric Breed, the rapper whose biggest hit was “Ain’t No Future in Yo Frontin’,” was found dead this past weekend at a friend’s home. He was 36.

Breed put Flint on the map. It’s a shame he would be taken from this Earth before I would have a chance to work w/him. His legacy will live on forever, especially in the streets of our hometown Flint, MI. FLINT TOWN 4 LIFE!

Wow…..another 1 gone! I remember “Breed” hooking up with the west coast and making “Dam Good Music” with Too Short, Ant Banks, Richie Rich, etc. I know Flint, Michigan is proud of someone like “Breed” that the city owe hime some debt! He put the city on the map (like most rapper(s)) telling the world what black folk(s) already knew!!! My prayer(s) goes out to “Breed” family…..I know the world will miss him, and his family will miss him the most! Understand people, when its your time to go……its your time! You can miss alot of Doctor(s) appointment, you can miss school, etc….but when the man “God” call you home, you have done what he ask you to do…..God Bless

Eric MC Breed my homie since age 12, the first show he invited me to see him perform @ The Capitol Theater downtown Flint he had opened for the FatBoys, now you know that’s ol school right, he new I was a dancer and singer and one day decided to rap one of my songs, Eric heard it and said you got it girl get in the studio asap, and soon after ain’t know future in ya frontin dropped I was so hype!!! I knew I could do the same, I went on to open for him (Breed) Boss, Yo Yo, Tupac & Biggie, met the likes of George Clinton,Gary Schriner, Too Short,DOC,Jazzie Pha, Tupac, etc, I signed 2 and indie label (Trax Records/Solar/Hines Distribution) in 94 and Breed helped me get signed by appearing on my project (He Made My Heart Sang) he said we were The Tina Marie & Rick James of hiphop!!!LOL!!!

I’m now a booking agent & event planner & working in advertising & Marketing @ a local hiphop station in Flint, I worked w/Eric booking him from time to time for gigs, last week I was feeling down and I was online and he instant messaged me and said hey you how are u nice a** pic!!! and I thanked him, asking him how he was doing he replied breezy, I told him he had better take care of himself so we can get over seas and post up for a year or two & build that foreign bread up, the I got this call early Saturday afternoon, I could’nt believe what I was hearing!

He was so excited about everything that was unfolding, man yall just don’t know how cool and down of a person Eric was, he loved his family & music w/all his heart & soul, did I mention he could sang his a** off!!! well I’m glad I had the pleasure of being a friend for so many years, just wanted to vent this evening everyone be sure to tell everyone you care about them & you Love them,

Peace & Blessings,
