National: Blood Pressure Control Could Save 8,000 Blacks a Year; Catholic Leaders Vow to Fight Obama on Abortion

Blood pressure control could save 8,000 Blacks a year. The lives of nearly 8,000 Black Americans could be saved each year if doctors could figure out a way to bring their average blood pressure down to the average level of Whites, a new study finds. The gap between the races in controlling blood pressure is well-known, but scientists say the resulting loss of life comes as a surprise. The study’s lead author says he believes action can be taken to close the gap, but there is evidence that it will take more than leveling the quality of care between Blacks and Whites. A second article in the same journal found that racial differences persist in blood pressure control in England, despite a national health system that provides equal access to care. The reasons for the racial difference have more to do with poverty and cultural habits than access to medical care, researchers say. Catholic leaders vow to fight Obama on abortion. The nation’s Catholic bishops are expected to issue a statement Wednesday pledging cooperation with President-elect Barack Obama on numerous social issues but vowing all-out opposition to any law or executive order he may sign advocating abortion rights. The initial draft of the bishops’ statement expressed a “desire to work with the administration” on social issues, such as immigration, economic justice and health care for the poor, highlighting that, “The Church is intent on doing good.” However, “the Church is also intent on opposing evil,” says the next line.
You know i’m a Christian too and Jesus said that even the demons believe and tremble. So it’s not what you believe its who you believe in. Now here it is all these other presidents some believe as Obama did and nothing like this has ever occurred. For some reason i find that other races always try to master black folks. Just because you believe a certain way does not get you into heaven or impresses God at all. The religious leaders of Jesus day such as the Pharasee, Sadducee’s, Chief Priest and Scribes had the best beliefs ever and thought they walked on water. But Jesus told them they was going straight to hell. I find it so irritating the way some Chistians how they go around judging and condemning others. God didn’t call us to do that He called us to witness and lead the lost to Christ. No where in the bible does it says for us to clean the fish, no it says to catch the fish. Here it is we have Christian that are drunkards, fornicators, idolatry “Catholics”. We have Christians adultrest, whoremonger, liars, child molestors, perverts, homosexuals, those who practice witchcrafts, haters, murders. Jesus said if you were to look upon a women or man and lust upon him/her you have committed adultery. He said if you hate your brother and be angry enought to call someone a fool you are in danger of hell firer. He said before you clean the mote out your brothers eyes, clean the mote out your own eyes. The scriptures says “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. So Catholic, protestants, evangelicals, etc. Sit your self down and do the will of God because when Jesus comes back, the first place He going to judge is the house of God. So if you are doing anything mentioned in this comment than your guilty and has no right to put Barack Obama on the spot at all. Again sit yo, self down some where and stop being above God thinking you sit next to Him on the throne of grace. You have no heaven or hell to put anyone in.
You know if find it annoying that every disease on earth impact blacks more than others. Would some body tell the health officials that disease has no color. We as African Americans need to start testing our own people.

I just wish that the church would deal with saving souls that and not trying to run the government. You know all this stuff about what God wants should be left for God to handle when it comes to these personal matters. I feel like the writer above, the Catholic church needs to concentrate on tracking down and ousting those child molesters that are among them. I think that organized religion has forgotten that God gives everyone “free will”. I am so sick of them interfering in matters of government.
The Catholic Church is not the only church where you will find child molesters get it straight. The Black Church needs to confess and come out of denial it’s there right in front of you. That I know for sure!!!

Molestation is EVERYWHERE! BE real people none of us are perfect and we all fall short of God’s glory. Don’t even divide the churches into denominations because the world itself ~church folks or non church folks are full of lust and confusion. No one ever said Black churches don’t have people who have been molested but it does seem to be more prevelent in the Catholic church, may I add. But let’s focus on understanding that none of us are free of making bad choices at some point in our lives. Please agree to pray for one another and let God be the judge on judgement day…And about black people always being the ones with all the illnesses, I agree these studies are not always true. The one that kills me the most, is that there are more black kids that smoke than any other racial group. Well I know a lot of people and I know growing up there were 3 times more white kids that smoked cigaretts than black kids….But again, that is just the way things have always been….blacks have to always come out as the underdog…BUT not this time Go BARACK OBAMA!

30 years ago. Please come into the 21st century. White girls have more abortions than blacks girls everyday and it’s been that way for a while now. Black girls have babies and white girls have abortions. Black girls get labled sluts and white girls are considered ladies. Pro-choice is an option just like planned parenthood stands for.
