Morris Brown College

Black College Gets Water, Reopens
Historically Black Morris Brown College is back in business after paying $100,000 toward its water bill to the city of Atlanta. The 127-year-old campus had asked the court to order the city to turn its water back on, saying it would never be able to meet its financial obligations with the doors closed. On Friday, Superior Court Judge Henry Newkirk ruled that the college had one more chance to deal with the $380,000 bill it owed the Atlanta Department of Watershed Management, some of which dated back four years. Air Tran

Airline Apologizes for Booting Muslim Passengers
AirTran Airways, which kicked nine Muslims off a New Year’s Day flight to Florida, apologized to the passengers and announced that it would reimburse them for tickets they purchased for another airliner. They were booted after other passengers reported hearing a suspicious remark about airplane security. “We apologize to all of the passengers — to the nine who had to undergo extensive interviews from the authorities and to the 95 who ultimately made the flight,” the statement said. “Nobody on Flight 175 reached their destination on time on New Year’s Day, and we regret it.” The group of Muslims had just sat down when they approached by federal air marshals and escorted off the plane, as passengers glared at them suspiciously, The Associated Press reports. House Negro..It is not our responsibility to pay the water bill of Morris-Brown. To attend college is not free!! you Pay fees on top of Fees!! Someone didnt manage the money correctly and that needs to be addressed! Can I get a collection to pay my water bill…Im a teacher…I help students as well!! No I didnt think so…I handle my bills first in my household!! They need to do the same. But I feel sorry for those students because college is expensive and they thought they were recieving a quality education at Morris Brown!! Good Luck students!!

And looking good but I must say what are the alumni’s doing and why that lady that was the President at one time not in jail?

I totally agree with the mess that’s going on overseas you cannot trust them people, they got gas staions and corner stores you never know what they up to. so i don’t blame the airline one bit.

We need Black colleges. If you can donate, it would be good to do so. Yes, an investigation into money management is appropriate, but let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water. Morris Brown at one point had the most amount of Black male students. They took students where they were academically and built them up. If we are serious about building up the Black community and Black families, we want to support institutions that assist in those goals. I will make a small donation.

In response to “Airline Apologizes for Booting Muslim Passengers” the airline did exactly what it was suppose to do to the letter. Now that being said the passengers and all passengers have to be smarter in their travel. The passengers were discussing airline security and aircraft safety which are both very touchy items in an airport in general but even more so when a a couple of musim passengers are discussing it before boarding an airplane. The passengers didn’t think and thought that they were like everyone else. Well they are not and “PC” or not if they are going to show praise for their religion and culture then they need to do it smarter and be more consciuos about where they go, what they say and how they appear…especially in todays times. Everyone who isn’t Muslim is always looking and watching for those who are and looking for a reason to become the next 9/11 heros! This is not the first time this has happened and I would think most Muslims in the U.S. are familiar with the most recent event on US Airways and it was a very publicized news story. If someone who is Muslim and is so far removed to believe that they won’t be singled out anytime they go to the airport by name, attire or looks then they are in for a rude awakening! I know it’s not right but it is done that way nationwide so just be ready for it and be a little more smart about things when you fly!

The airline did it’s job and it’s not pretty and these things don’t happen at the best times. There is a reason there are signs all over the airport that say things like “don’t joke about bombs” or “all jokes are taken seriously” because TSA and or the airline don’t answer to anyone when the airlines safety or security is being questioned. The apology was a good business move but at the same time it was not required and passengers need not get things twisted because an airline can and will prosecute you for the smallest thing if it interferes with the aircraft, crew or airport security. So passengers need to think about where they are when they discuss certain things especially topics that make the airlines jump.

I have 22 years of airline experience and I welcome any responses to this posting. You can also read my blog “Airline Travel…What You Really Need To Know!!! ” at http://blkav8tor2003.blogspot.com/ if you want to be the true experienced traveler.

Virgil Lovette very good post and I agree with everything you said. This not the time to be politically correct and racial profiling is very appropriate in this instance!
