National News: Obama Has Ambitious Jobs Plan

Obama has an ambitious jobs plan. President-elect Barack Obama has an ambitious goal in mind when it comes to creating jobs over the next couple years. With the economy flying apart at the seams, 3 million to 4 million jobs could dry up over the next year, spiking the unemployment rate to an astronomical 9 percent, according to Vice-President-elect Joseph Biden. In what has become the worst economy since World War II, General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler have announced that they will close five dozen manufacturing plants over the next month – mainly because Americans have stopped buying cars. Portland preachers stand strong against violence. About a dozen Black Portland, Ore., preachers, fed up with the street violence rocking their city, have taken to the streets to demand that the gangbangers drop their guns and usher in a new era of peace. “The issue is urgent. Our house is on fire. Our children are dying. We need to take immediate action,” said the Rev. LeRoy Haynes Jr., at Northeast Portland’s Allen Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. His call comes a week after the fatal shooting of a 30-year-old on Dec. 12, inside of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. In this “unthinkable travesty,” as the Rev. Robert C. Jointer of New Hope calls it, Darshawn Cross, a gang member, was attending a noon funeral service when he got into a fight with Latwan Brown, a member of a rival gang. Police and witnesses said Cross suspected Brown was the man who shot him in the stomach four months ago. Brown was handed a gun by somebody else at the service and unloaded four shots into Cross, who slumped to the floor of the church. The pastors want the violence to stop and for Brown to turn himself in to authorities. “We call upon Latwan Brown to surrender himself to the Portland Police Bureau and take responsibility for the actions he has done,” Haynes said. “We plead to the family members to encourage him to surrender. Then we call upon the witnesses to do their moral and civic responsibility by contacting police.”
I commend President Obama for stepping up doing the right thing, it takes a strong man to realize the urgent for the country, i’m pushing for Obama to set it off right for the “Nine”

We really have to stay prayerful for peace
Throughout the United States — it’s past time for the citizens living in gang and thug infested communities to step up to the plate and take their communities back. As long as the gangs and thugs know that people are fearful and will not testify they will continue to ravage your communities. It’s funny, people living in these communities pray for peace; but they are not putting any actions with their words. When one prays for something, one has to be willing to do what they can, when they can, and all they can and when one has done that God takes care of the rest –when we have done all we can. Praying for peace in your communities without action — waiting for someone else to file a complaint or testify to what they’ve seen — doesn’t start the answer of your prayer.
That means more jobs for blacks at KFC, Wal-Mart, comstruction, and labor pools.!!!!!
David as long as blacks or whites are earning a honest living working a job what difference does it makes if you have to work at KFC, Wal-Mart, Construction or any labor pools? Honest work means honest pay. When you do something illegal you will eventually get caught. Right now people just want jobs and want to work. By the way, you probably have one of the jobs you criticize blacks for.
Criticism , racism, skepticism, violence, hatred, greed, fornication, idolatry, last i read in the Bible that these were the beginnings of mans’ demise, and that the love of many would become cold, solution? Without God in anyone’s life you have NOTHING, because everyone is appointed to die but after death comes the judgment!!!

about what happened in Portland, what a shame. And shame on the two men that caused all the problems. What kind of person does that at a funeral, causing the family that is mourning the loss of their loved one only to have to duck and dodge bullets in a church- for gods sake! I read the other comments left on this page and i wonder why so many people have such hatred in their hearts. For the men that shot each other up in a church- god will get you, trust that. And for everyone else who thinks it’s such a bad thing to have a black man run our country- just wait and see. it will be ya’ll that are happy in the end because Obama has done so much for you.
