April 1st, 2009Pit Bulls Kill Child, Maul Owner Two pit bulls killed a 7-month-old boy and mauled the grandmother who owned them at her San Antonio, Texas home on Tuesday, The Associated Press reports. The woman, whose name was not released, had gone to the kitchen to retrieve a bottle to feed her grandson, Izaiah Gregory Cox, and when she returned, the dogs had set on the child, San Antonio Police Chief Bill McManus told AP. She grabbed a knife and stabbed one of the dogs, then pulled the baby away. But the dogs then turned on her. After she got the dogs into her backyard, police shot and killed them both. Izaiah died at University Hospital; the condition of his grandmother was not immediately known, AP reported.
B-more Mom Guilty of Starving Child to Death A Baltimore mother pleaded guilty Monday to starving her 16-month-old son to death, in a bizarre agreement that asked for charges to be dropped if her son was “resurrected.” Prosecutors say that Ria Ramkissoon, who they say is a cult member, stopped feeding her child, Javon Thompson, because he didn’t say “Amen” at meals and had a rebellious spirit, reports WBAL-TV. The child died as a result and his body was found in April of last year. Read more.

Clearly this is a case of the owner not being responsible. These two dogs are obviously untrained and most likely treated improperly. Also, probably not even a true pitbull. Usually the dogs that make it intio the news for attacks are mutts, and have been treated poorly and not trained. DOGS ARE ANIMALS! They must be trained propery and treated right. I have owned pitbulls for over 15 years, and they are as friendly as the neighborhood lab, with kids and babies alike. However, whether I own a pitbull or even a golden retriever, I would never leave a dog, AN ANIMAL along with children. The owners of these dogs need to take more responsibility for these attacks. People are buying these breeds for the wrong reasons, for guard dogs and bringing them up wrong. Dogs need constant nurturing and time, if this is given to them, especially when you own such a strong breed. I dont care what breed, they will be friendly and give you constant love.
Please stop blaming the breed!! Owners need to be more responsible!!
Pit bulls need to be “BAN”. They are maiming and killing too many people. Put them down. In some states pit bulls are ban and if the owner is found out they face jail time and a big hefty fine.

My heart hurts badly for the mother to lose her child due to nelegation because that’ the real truth.Think about it.
Past owned 2 rednosed pitbulls in San Antonio, Tx and NEVER EVER had a problem or incident.If you keep DOG tied up and not spending time with any pet/ dog will be outrage. What if you were tied you up and had few feet to move how would you be. No dog should be keep /raised in a unsafe area. The responsiblity is her not the dog. II receive my newborn babiesdogs from the breeder with papers and I LOVE MY DOGS. Boys are protective of me when they spot someone that feel may cause to them or my family they have very strong senses i’m the only girl in the house and we run together .It’s ashamed that the baby suffered and the dogs were killed. She should be held accountable for her action she’s liable for this. The dog is not human and how could a dog sat on child unless he fell on the couch who know what happen she does and should be punish. Many measure could had been taken to prevent any dog to be killed and to lose a human life.Please stop saying that pitbulls are fault. FYI, I took my dogs overseas and they were 2 babies and had great time my dogs are 5yrs old human age. Now we’re back in Texas again and I hear this story .

I AM A PITT BULL OWNER AND THEY ARE VERY KIND AND GENTLE ANIMALS. MY OLDEST PITT IS THE SAME AGE AS MY DAUGHTER WHO IS 5 AND NEVER ONCE HAS HE GROWLED OR ACTED LIKE HE WANTED TO BITE HER. IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE OWNER AND AND HOW THE DOG IS TRAINED. THIS IS A SAD SITUATION AND MY HEART GOES OUT TO THE FAMILY, BUT WE CAN NOT FORGET THAT ALL DOGS WHETHER IT BE A PITT OR WHATEVER THAT THEY ARE ANIMALS. THESE OWNERS NEED TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE AND NOT THE DOGS…

U would think that people would have learned their lesson already on having these pitts around children. If they want them as pets they should not children around them and should take responsibility for whatever they may do. Now as for the Baltimore “mom”, the female needs to be given the max for murdering her baby.
SAD,SAD,SAD….. If u do ur research pitbulls are the most loveable friendly breed period. WE pit owners cant stress enough that it’s how u train/care/treat/ and respect these an any ANIMAL!!! Personally I think animals are animals, my grandmother owned two german shephards and they turned on her. I don’t like dogs and I think if people want such animals they should have them in the country on a farm some where I don’t trust them and they all should be “BANNED” people act as though this is the only ALTERNATIVE get a life, these animals they stink and they need to be in the woods somewhere, I am from Greenwood Mississippi and we had animals in the country outside and not in the house, I just don’t get it……

U know I have a five year old pit bull and he doesn’t have aggressive behavior. Actually he enjoys kids. I think it is the way that you raise them because not all pits are bad. And as for that crazy @** lady who killed her baby! What da hell was dat all about?
