National: Tom Joyner Gas Giveaway Causes Fla. Frenzy
June 28th, 2008Yesterday afternoon, some cars ran out of gas trying to take advantage of a gas giveaway organized by the Tom Joyner Morning Show for residents of Broward County in Florida. Hundreds of cars lined up for 10 blocks at the gas station hoping to take advantage of the offer than was only good between noon and 2 p.m. The backup caused by the drivers and prompted dozens of local police department to dispatch dozens of officers to direct traffic. The offer is part of a national campaign that launched May 25 and is expected to reach 100 cities by its end. Promoters spend an estimated $20,000 on the free gas in each city.

Most people tanks take about $60 to $100 to fill, is it really that worth it of going out & sitting in crazyness just for gas??????
Well when times are hard and people don’t have money for gas to get back and forth to work for the next couple of days then I think that it would make sense to wait for that fill up BUT YA’LL CHECK OUT THIS YOUTUBE VIDEO !!!!

I agree, gas is high so you take advantage of any giveway, i am trying to keep up with this. Can someone tell me when it will be in the DC area. As high as gas is here, i will wait in line all night if i need to. An Angel in distress
I THINK IT’S A GREAT IDEA FOR SOMEONE TO RYANDHELP PEOPLE GET GAS EVEN IF ITS ONLY ONE FILL-UP IT’S A HELLUVA LOT MORE THAN THE GOVERNMENT IS DOING RIGHT NOW BESIDES GETTING PAID OFFOF AMERICAS HARDSHIP AT THE PUMPS& EVERYWHERE ELSEBECAUSE IT’S A DOMINO EFFECT OU RAISE MY GAS AND I’LL RAISE YOUR GROCERY BILL AND ETC…. IT’S A SHAME THAT LIFE HAS TO COME TO THUS IN THIS COUNTRY. WHO WOULD EVER THINK WE’D BE PAYING OVER $4.00 A GALLON FOR GAS? WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN ONCE IT GOES UP TO $5.00 OR $6.00 A GALLON? WITH THESE TIMES WE ARE FACING EVERYDAY IS A $$$ CHALLENGE JUST TO SURVIVE..IS THIS STILL AMERICA?

Soon we’ll need a co-signer to purchase gasoline for our vehicles. Such a sad situation.
High as gas prices are now I will sit all night if I have to. I have a SUV and it costs an arm and a leg to fill it up. I hope Tom Joyner give us some free gas here in Texas.
