Ne-Yo Addresses Gay Rumors After PEOPLE Comment

The “gentleman” of R&B has responded to the latest gossip and, he says, misinterpretation of comments he recently made to People magazine about his ATL neighbor Young Jeezy. Ne-Yo’s Web-issued statement reads in part: “One rule of being a gentleman is to keep your cool and composure at all costs, but right about now, I gotta loosen up this tie and take off this expensive suit jacket and talk to the people for a minute…Pardon my French, but what the f–k is wrong with y’all?!…I understand that a hater’s job is to hate, clearly. But it’s when people start feeding into what a hater is saying that something must be addressed…I tell People magazine that Young Jeezy’s crib is right next to mine and that, once, I saw him in there from across the way. I then make a JOKE about him maybe not wanting to walk around naked in his crib with the shades up ‘cause the buildings are THAT close to each other, and that AIN’T something I care to see. Suddenly, everybody thinks I said I saw Young Jeezy in his crib naked when NEVER ONCE did I say anything like that.” And there’s much, much more at Ne-Yo’s MySpace spot.
A hit dog will holler, so stop hollering! It’s getting really ridiculous now for people to believe that the only gays in the music industry are Clay Aiken and Lance Bass. There are brothers who still cannot come out post-Obama. I think closeted rappers and singers are annoying. Thanks for coming out Wanda Sykes.
I’m not sayin’ this cat is gay…then again….I am not sayin’ he is NOT either. How can I vouch for the dude..and I don’t even know him? He would not be the first in R&B. Look at how Teddy P kept it on the low for so long?
All I can say is that the comment he made was a little odd. Sure, Jeezy….or any other cat in the industry…could live near him….that’s no big deal, it’s almost expected in the industry. My thing is: why is his mind even THINKING about the possibility that Jeezy could…or would…walk around NAKED in his home with the shades up?? Plus…even if he was to do that, all Ne-Yo needs to do is…(drumroll)….put his shades down and walk away! Right?
I think the mistake that he made was going public, when making a comment like that. He should have known, as most celebrities do, that a measure of caution is required, when making any statements that can be twisted and misinterpreted. How could all of this been avoided? Simple. Ne-Yo should have waited for an opportune time to approach Jeezy directly….seeing that they live so close or maybe at a function somewhere ….and make the joke with him face-to-face. I am quite sure that Jeezy would have realised he was joking right there and then….and been cool about the whole thing…plus…there would have been no media to bear witness to it and get it twisted. Unfortunately, he did not take that route…so…he has left himself open to internet hell now. Fame is bittersweet, brah. Look at what Ciara went through in the early stages of her career, courtesy of the internet……..

We’ve never had an issue about what color of eyes God gave each of us. We are now just getting over issues about what skin color God gave each of us.
But we still have issues over what gender identification God gave each of us.
People need to quit second guessing God.
Ne-Yo is one of our major black songwriters and composers. If he’s gay, who cares? Can he sing? Can he write? These are the questions that matter to me. Is he talented? Hell Yeah! Pay attention to that and leave the other stuff alone! It’s irrelevant! Come on black people, thought we were moving closer towards INTELLIGENCE and not IGNORANCE!

People are going to continue to talk and mix up each other words so I say if you know it ain’t true then let them talk because once someone’s mind is made up it’s pretty hard to change it. Who are they to judge because they’re not the way to heaven or hell, so whatever these people say wouldn’t make a difference.
