Nuggets’ Melo ‘Happy That It’s Over’
June 25th, 2008Denver Nuggets star pleads guilty to lesser charge of DUI

NBA star and 2008 Olympics team member Carmelo Anthony will perform 24 hours of community service and pay $1,000 in fees and fines after pleading guilty to driving while ability-impaired. Initially charged with the more serious DUI, the Nuggets player also pleaded guilty Tuesday to failing to stay in a single lane on April 14 when he was arrested. Anthony previously apologized to the Denver fans and community after he was driven home by a law enforcement officer, which raised questions about whether he’d been given special treatment. “I’m happy that it’s over so I get a chance to take care of my business,” Anthony says. Earlier this week, Anthony publicly expressed his desire to know if was up for a trade from the Nuggets. His agent says he’ll stay in Denver.

Another celebrity letting down the kids. I know you are human, but there is too much at stake for you all [celebrities] to not make better choices and stay in control of your personal lives.
I agree with VI Lady BUT YA’LL CHECK OUT THIS YOUTUBE VIDEO !!!

HIT ME UP
Come on Celebrities! Control, Common Sense, Responsibility – The KIDS ARE WATCHING!!!!!!!!!
it is so sad how everyone except that athletes and entertainers to be role models. Yes, they are public figures but it is up to the child’s parent/guardian to prove guidance. That is a huge weight on an athlete’s shoulders to feel that you cannot make a mistake without public ridicule. We need to stop looking for celebrities to place big roles in the community but look to ourselves to be role models in our communities.
people are not role models they human’s ever one expect ball players and athlete’s to be role model.but they are not teach your childern to be the best they can be and not on super star’s and the world will be a better place.
why do we blame celebrities for everything??? they are human. i’m sure they didn’t become pro players, actors, singers, ect to be the nations role model. if anything what a child sees in his own environment should be his/her guide to life. what celebrities do in thier PERSONAL life is just that personal. the only reason we hear about it is because of who they are. yes people need to think before they do things but thats not always the case. plus the media colors a story to make it worse than what it really was. i have 2 young boys and they can name half of the nba players and quote several lines from many movies staring blacks that have been in the news for negative things but what i show and teach my children is to be a leader and not a follower. they know what’s right and wrong. so whether their favorite movie star or basketball player does something wrong they know what decision to make about their life and if they make the wrong choice punishment will follow.
Unfortunately because of our wharped set of values in America children look up to artists and athletes more than teachers and nurses; some of the hardest workers and most underpaid people. Those athletes and artists should not be our kids role models…some of them are still kids themselves!!! When we change who we value the kids will too. They are doing what they see us doing…not what we tell them to do.
To VI Lady,
you can sit here all day and tell Celebs to think about the kids, but it’s not up to them to influence our children. It’s up to the parents, quit letting T.V. and these stars raise your kids, and step in and do what a parent is supposed to do…
I agree with you 100 JRT. It also goes back to letting children handle too much money, too soon.
I have always said by letting high school players go straight to the pros, they are missing an important stage in life of growing up. College can teach you a lot people. Also, the education is fun!!!!!

Carmelo, get a driver. You can affort it.Never let that kind of thing like drink and driving control you. You don’t have to drive youself. Let some else do that for you. Much luck and have a good season. You are one of the best. God bless.
Come on people he’s only human.
I mean what person u know it going to do everything perfect…now what we need to do as parents is control what our kids are seeing if a kid like Melo don’t let him see his trial we as parents need to take responsibility of our children parents do way more messed up stuff right in front of our kids face so parents step up please and not let the tv be role models to our kids give them someone to look up to that they see and hug everyday like mom and dad and we wouldn’t be dependant on celebrities to be their role models these celebrities are just like us they just got a lot of money and pappers follow them around they are not perfect they will make mistakes and they are the ones that have to suffer the consequences
