Obama Apologizes to Nancy Reagan

November 8th, 2008

Obama

During a Chicago news conference Friday, President-elect Barack Obama said he had spoken with allthe living presidents since his election last Tuesday. Then he added a joke about former First Lady Nancy Reagan that fell flat. “I didn’t want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about doing any seances” he said. Shortly after, Obama called the 87-year-old Mrs. Reagan, who is ill, to apologize for his statement. According to Obama spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter, the President-elect “expressed his admiration and affection for Mrs. Reagan that so many Americans share, and they had a warm conversation.” According former White House Chief of Staff Donald T. Regan, Mrs. Reagan did consult an astrologer to help set her husband’s schedule.

I’ve read some of the posts.
Some were ignorant.
Others were informative.
Some were truly interesting.
Please let me set the historical record straight.
Eleanor Roosevelt, wife of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt was into the occult and allegedly consulted astrologers and/or the spirits of the dead (which most of us know is not wise).
Edith Bolling Galt Wilson, the wife of President Woodrow Wilson also dabbled with the occult. She also ran things while her husband was debilitated from a crippling stroke. (Believe it or not, she opposed allowing women the right to votes!)
Hillary Clinton allegedly consulted with the spirits of the dead. We know that’s wrong, but she wasn’t the only first lady to invite unknowingly invite evil into the Presidential Palace (which is what the White House was originally known as.)
I’m not a Hillary Clinton supporter, but sometimes I find it necessary to speak in her behalf and to set the record straight.
As for Nancy Reagen, she is a former First Lady who I believe acted in what she thought was in the best interest of this nation. She is now an old woman who deserves the respect and dignity that women, especially other First Ladies are entitled. Even President-elect Obama seems to feel the same way.

Honestly, I think he needs to watch what he says this is the second time he has apologized to someone for making a careless remark. When a reporter asked him about what type of dog he was getting for the girls he commented on 1 particlar choice. He said “A mutt like me”. I heard that like WTF. Why would he say that I know he is bi-racial but do not equate yourself as being a MUTT. He will be subjected to all type of racial slurs, comments by all sorts of ignorant people through out his term why put that out there. That all me need is for ignorant people to start referring to him as a MUTT. He just need to walk the walk and be careful at some of words, the world is watching. I voted for Obama and I am happy he is our President.

P.J…MABE IN YOUR WORLD ..”NANCY ACTED ON GOOD FAITH FOR HER NATION BY PLAYING WITH..” EVIL SPIRTS”… IF YOU SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT THEN ALOT OF THINGS ARE F^CKED UP BESIDES YOUR SELF!!.AND IT SHOWS WHO YOU WORSHIP!!!.AND WHO MADE YOU THE EXPERT.

Araccot Said on

Truth, it’s definitely not in you… He did not say that he want his dog to be a mutt like him. He said, ” What kind of dog we will be getting is not known yet but it will have to be a hypo-allergenic dog because Malia is allergic.” “Although, we would like to adopt a shelter dog, they are mutts, like me.”

There’s nothing wrong with what he said, there’s nothing wrong with poking a little fun at yourself. I feel when you’re able to do that you leave no one a chance to say anything about you. i.e. My ears poke out like Will Smith’s ears; when I joke around and say my hearing is like a Doppler Radar System nothing gets past these ears… what is left for someone to say.

Not only is it an era for change, it’s also the era to stop taking everything someone says, dissecting it, and taking it personally. Learn to recognize a joke when you here one, learn how to decipher the difference between racism and curiosity, learn not to sweat the small stuff.

President elect Obama referred to himself as a mutt. Yes this is true. So, truth, in regards to your comment don’t you think by Barack doing that he has totally disarmed anyone who would be foolish enough to characterize him by his race? He has publicly acknowledged what people have said about him. Discussion over. There is NOTHING people can call him that he doesn’t already know or have said himself. Good for him…other people’s words don’t hurt and if we cared to find out most of us are mutts one way or another. I don’t think that particular remark was careless, on the contrary, it was well placed and is the beginning of making discussions about race less taboo.

Connie Said on

He was man enough to apologize for his remark and she was woman enough to accept his apology. I wish we could all be so adult about such things.

Lynn…I don’t know what makes you such a judge of righteousness, or who gives you any right to judge me.
I worship the same true God. It seems that the majority of those who submit posts to this forum also worship the same true God and believe His holy messages that are contained in the Holy Bible.
I won’t consult wit the famaliar spirits, seek guidence from astrology nor have spiritual fellowship with any group that I believe falls under the category of “cult.”
This does not make me any better than anyone else.
For the record, I have read about some of the First Ladies’ dalliance in the occult. Some sources of information are questionable. I shared this information for entertainment purposes only,
