I do agree with Eric, because music is simply entertainment. I agree that there is far too much negativity being influenced in our hip-hop/rap, but we also need to teach our children that not all music, no matter how often music in general is almost in the 1st person perspective, is true. To some, music is just another way to say something, but to people like me, it’s also just entertainment. I will say this though: I have seen a little bit of change, but not too much (Rick Ross with a love song in “Here I Am”, Weezy giving his opinion in “Misunderstood”, etc.).

It is amazing how we (Black People) complain about injustices done by “The White Man” and yet everyday we (Black People) do unjust things to our own race: Killing, robbing, raping, neglecting (reference to parenting), etc. I grew up hearing, “It takes a village to raise a child”, but now I am hearing that it is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that their child grows up with good values. As far as I am concerned, the whole world influences our behavior, values, character, morals, etc. We are all responsible, to some degree, for the choices we make in life, but those on the sidelines, who sit and watch or encourage wrong also are responsible. We are all here to help each other, not to sit and say, “well I didn’t tell Mr. Smith’s son to smoke crack. His parents should have told him not to. ” These are selfish, ignorant and unconcerned remarks. The people who say these things have a chunk of coal for a heart. Does a table not need the support of all the legs to stand? Remove one leg and see what happens. Then remove another leg and see what happens. This is what is happening to the world today. People are making excuses instead of looking the problem dead in the face and calling it for what it is. Remember these: Someone fed you before you could feed yourself and someone carried you before you could walk alone. We are all guilty when we expose children to improper things and behaviors, whether they are our kids or the neighbors kids. There is definitely a lack of RESPECT for women today. A lot of people, inlcuding RAPPERS, display this DISRESPECT for women. The people who don’t recognize that there is a problem with an “entertainer” who enjoys making money from disrespecting women and the negative way it affects our kids, then they are selfish, ignorant and miserable creatures. PEACE PEOPLE!

I agree. I would love to hear PE on the airwaves again. The suits have succeeded somewhat “dumbing down” hip hop. Some of it is fun but the rest needs to get a reality check and see that there is more to life than bling bling, Phantoms, and half-dressed women. Hip Hop has done quite a bit for American culture. It should not settle for the hand being dealt to it now. I love Game’s new song paying homage to the men and women who paved the way. Party on but party with a purpose!!!! Peace. MUSIC ARTISTS PAY FOR THEIR OWN MUSIC VIDEOS SO YOU KNOW THE ONES THAT JUST CAME OUT WITH ONE HIT ARE TAKING THE EASY WAY OUT TO CUT COSTS!!!!….AND FYI- DON’T TRY TO GET ANYTHING FROM THE FAMOUS JACOB THE JEWELER ANYMORE CAUSE HIS A** IS LOCKED UP FOR THE NEXT 2 AND 1/2 YEARS!!!
