Obama Gives First Press Briefing as President-Elect
November 7th, 2008
Surrounded by members of his transition economic advisory board, Barack Obama held his first press briefing as president-elect in Chicago Friday afternoon. The briefing, which was held after Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden met with the advisors, addressed the United States’ struggling economy. Obama outlined four points he would focus on to help the economy when he gets into office stressing that he doesn’t, “underestimate the enormity of the crisis,” and that “the choices we make will be difficult.” The first policy he mentioned would be a rescue plan for the middle class, which would include extending unemployment benefits, in the wake of a job loss of 1.2 million in this country this year. Second would be another fiscal stimulus plan. Thirdly, he would review the Bush administration’s financial program to make sure that it’s helping regular families and not CEOs of big companies. And lastly, he and his team will look into policies to grow and strengthen the middle class, he said. Obama was quick to point out a couple times during the briefing that, since the nation only has one president at a time, he can’t really get anything done now. After the briefing he fielded questions on his family’s dog choice (they want a shelter dog, but it has to be hypoallergenic since one of his daughters is allergic) and school choice (Michelle Obama is looking into schools in D.C. now and is making a decision).
Don’t worry about people who are argumentative toward the outcome. They know it’s not the 60’s anymore. The civil war is over now as of 11-04-2008.
We have all lived to see history and will continue to pray to God for our President and us to prosper as a nation. Regardless how anybody look at it or what anybody plans to do to interrupt this historic moment, Barack Obama is the 44th President of the United States of America. One of the most powerful men in the world today!!!

Good for obama, but he had said he be half white. That means his skin be black but his brain be white, thats why he smart. Naw meen? My boy told me if obama mess up and cant help amerca it would be the last time a black man would ever be voted for again. I hope he give me free moneys to pay for my dubs tho.

Obama is the president and there is nothing you can do about it. The best man won. WIth prayers, support and God he will prevail. Come on people give him time to get in the white house before you expect him to start making changes. Bush messed it up so it will take time to clean it up.
I love brother Barack Obama, but my only criticism I have of him is that he referred to his self as a “mutt” recently. I find that very offensive to our community. He needs to speak in possitive terms about our race (if he’s going to bring it up). Afterall, no one would appreciate it if we referred to Frederick Douglass as a mutt. He apologized to Nancy Reagan when he mispoke, though I don’t expect an apology from Barack. I just hope that some how he gets the message from many of the puplic that the mutt comment is unexceptable and not funny.

I am so proud of the way Mr. Obama has conducted his self in this campaign. I was most happy to vote for him on Nov. 4, and are very happy that he won, but not as a black man but as the best man for the job, who just happen to be black. Congratulation to President Obama.
For all these crazy people. Blacks help voted him in, but the whites was the majority putting him in. So what is the problem. Obama not just on black side, he is on all of us side. It’s so amazing how President elect Obama ignored or turned his cheek when McCain & his Klan supporters spread those rumors. And that’s why he won by a LANDSLIDE, because God doesn’t like ugly & good people always come off on top. That’s why black people are so amazing & we always seem to make it through whatever tribulations or hardships we go through because we’re strong. So we do DESERVE this celebration. There is nothing wrong with being a mutt. I am one as well being part indian, german, irish & hungarian. I’m sure his mama was multicultural like me. It is a term of endearment. Mutts are usually much stronger than pure breeds.
