Obama Makes History in Denver

Barack Obama made history in more ways than one last night.
Besides being the first Black American to win the nomination of a major political party, the Illinois senator accepted the Democratic Party nomination in front of a cheering crowd of about 80, 0000 people. His was the largest audience to witness a presidential nomination acceptance speech in all of American history.
Before the speech, crowds numbering in the tens of thousands stretched for miles across downtown Denver, slowly making their way to the stadium to see the senator speak.
“Tonight, I say to the American people, to Democrats and Republicans and independents across this great land – enough!,” he said. “This moment – this election – is our chance to keep, ion the 21st century, the American promise alive.” The hyped-up crowd created a festive atmosphere – more baseball game than political convention – with music performances by John Legend and will.I.am, Sheryl Crow, Micheal McDonald and Stevie Wonder.A dazzling firework display closed the night out.
But even with all the bells and whistles of the ceremony, Obama remained sober and focused, flexing his superior public speaking skills and delivering perhaps his most forceful speech yet. He touched on familiar themes: his life story; a call to rise above the labels that divide the country; a need to rebuild America’s image abroad and improve the economy at home; John McCain’s desire to carry on failed Republican policies, etc.
“The record is clear, he criticized. “John McCain has voted with George Bush ninety percent of the time. Senator McCain likes to talk about judgment, but really, what does it say about your judgment when you think George Bush has been right 90 percent of the time? I don’t know about you but I’m not ready to take a 10 percent chance on change.”
Accepting the party’s nomination on the forty-fifth anniversary of the March on Washington, Obama also invoked Martin Luther King.
“The men and women who gathered there could’ve heard many things. They could’ve heard words of anger and discord. They could’ve been told to succumb to fear and frustration, he said. “But what people heard instead,” he went on”is that in America, our destiny is inextricably linked.”
Before Obama spoke, several other speakers including Al Gore took the stage.
Oscar-winning singer and actress, Jennifer Hudson, delivered a rousing rendition of the national Anthem to start the occasion.

What can anyone say but THANK GOD! The day has finally come where race cannot keep you from climbing the ladder. Obama’s speech was phenomenal and absolutely inspiring to listen to. I pray Obama will stay true to his word and we as people of all color will support him all the way to the top of that ladder. Go OBAMA!
I was amazed and brought to tears this man is unbelievable.Also I am a black female who has been trying to change the way Felons are treated after they serve their time and is trying to live a productive life they are told that they no longer have the basic Rights like to Vote. Some of these people have change their lives completly around and because of a mistake in judgement or simply to feed their family’s choose the wrong way to do so Now this same man who has not been in any trouble since the first crime and some have been a working part of this nation for 32 years and when he went to reregister he was told he could not vote because he was a convicted felon SOME ONE PLEASE HELP OR SHOW ME HOW TO REMEDY THIS NONSENSE ANGIE IN WAYCROSS GA

I’M PRETTY SURE THAT SOME OF THOSE HYPOCRITES AT THE DNC PREFER MCCAIN. AMERICA IS FULL OF RACISTS REGARDLESS OF POLITICAL AFFILIATION. NO TWO WAYS ABOUT THAT. OBAMA HAS TO LET PRAYERS BE HIS GUIDE. HE SHOULD HAVE STARTED HIS DNC NOMINATION ACCEPTANCE SPEECH WITH A PRAYER. WHOEVER DIDN’T WANT THAT COULD HAVE GONE TO HELL.

I am a very proud American. I just have one question. Now that Obama is the nominee and possibly the first African American president, what are the rest of the African American mean willing to do to change? I want all of our young black men to see this and know that killing each other and going to prison can be a thing of the past. There are to many of our brothers in prison and doing things with their lives that needs to be change. Look at what has happen and allow it to inspire you to change who you are, what you do, and what you can become.
Obama! rocked it last Thursday night!
It was an amazing night to see Obama and all the other democrats that did a great job. It is also a historic moment for a lot of Americans who have never just took out time to even watch the democratic speeches. I thank God for the changes that are being made in America. God Bless Obama and God Bless all of us Americans.
I am so excited about this campaign! We are truly blessed to be alive to witness this momentous moment in history! There is only one drawback for me – I am saddened by the fact that so many of my loved ones didn’t get a chance to witness it also. I truly hope that ALL Americans will take a moment to realize how important it is to vote. This is definitely one time when every vote will count!
