Obama Monkey T-Shirts A Hot Georgia Item
May 16th, 2008But a major publisher threatens to sue the Atlanta-area bar that’s raking in cash
Scores of people have been protesting the sale of T-shirts, featuring the cartoon monkey Curious George eating a banana with the words “Obama ’08,” at a Georgia pub. But now the bar owner, Mike Norman is facing some new problems as the publishing company that owns the Curious George image is threatening to sue him. “We find it offensive and obviously utterly out of keeping with the value Curious George represents,” said Rick Blake, a spokesman for publisher Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. “We’re monitoring the situation and weighing our options with respect to legal action.” Curious George, a popular character in children’s books for many years who now has his own television cartoon series. Blake said that he has not been in contact with Norman or anyone else selling the shirts, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Norman, who owns Mulligan’s Bar and Grill in Cobb County, told the newspaper that he got the T-shirts from someone in Arkansas. His establishment is known for the controversial, ultra-conservative political slogans it plasters out front. This week the number of people protesting the shirts, which they call racist, began to swell. Norman told the Journal-Constitution that while he recognizes the racist roots of the imagery, he has every right to portray Obama as a monkey if he likes. “We’re not living in the (19)40’s,” he said. “Look at him . . . the hairline, the ears — he looks just like Curious George.” One guy called him up and ordered a hundred shirts, said Norman, 63. This is what happens when whites start to feel inferior to us, we have always been on top even back in the days and they are still trying to figure out how we still make it in spite of all obstacles. He will be sued and Sen. Obama will still press on.
I hope they sue his behind. But seriously, this shows it is still so much ignorance. People we have come a long way, don’t let this old dog tell us otherwise. Some people you will never be able to change and who cares what he thinks, he’ll be dead soon. We are looking to the future and not the ways of the ugly past. Obama is it.

Part 3. I’m sure you will agree in light of all that is going on in the world today that this t-shirt issue is small both in America and abroad and it should be treated that way. This isn’t something that we should allow to corrode the message of unity that Senator Obama stands for. Barack has proven time and time again that he is above this type of tactic; he hasn’t gratified those behind this t-shirt by addressing it publicly, so let’s take our lead from him and leave it alone. We are the “United” States of America, so let’s stop searching for ways to “divide” ourselves.
The devil, which is of no color but of spirit, has been using the same tricks from the beginning of time. Why would he switch up if it’s still working today? You shall reap what you sow. Keep your eyes on what’s real and not the counterfeit. Deceit, racism, envy, jealousy, murder, lies, and many others are his tricks. Don’t be fool, the devil will use anybody he can, but God will use anybody that’s WILLING. STAY FOCUS, GOD IS IN CONTROL !!!!!!
If you look the monkey does not look like President Obama. Like I have been saying for the last eight years it looks George Bush.
Protesting outside the pub is not going to hurt him in the pocket because all the customers are just like him…..Racist……they want stop going there

i am really suprised by this,barrack has really archieved alot and does not deserve this, being an african of kenyan decent its sad that this is still happening in america ,the whole world is watching, this is really bad.i can imagine what orther african americans go through on daily basis.i am really offended by it all.
Keep in mind some people are not interested in change, some people are bent on chaos and distruction, look around if everyone really cared how the world would be in 5 or 10 years we wouldn’t be concerned about the rising cost of food, gas and basic needs. Some people really want to see this world crash and burn but I am proud to say I am not one those people, I will continue to be kind to my neighbor and forgive those who don’t value peace and harmony.

I guess that we can say that Obama is a threat to some poeple and that he must be doig his job. If this is the only thing that they can come up with in order to TRY and give Obama a negetive image, then they are very sad, they don’t have much of an imagination. And to say that he looks like Curious George is a plus, becasue the charater is cute. But I am not ignorant, I know what he is trying to say. TRY SOMETHING ELS!!!
