Obama Set to Pick the First Black Attorney General, Reports Say
November 18th, 2008
President-elect Barack Obama is set to appoint Eric Holder attorney general, making him the first African American to hold the position, reports say. Holder, 57, served as deputy attorney general in the Clinton administration and was a legal advisor for Obama’s campaign. There is no official word yet from Obama’s camp, but according to Newsweek, after some discussions Obama made an offer to Holder and he accepted. “The announcement is not likely until after Obama announces his choices to lead the Treasury and State Department,” said the magazine. Holder has been publicly critical of the Bush adminstration in the past saying that to combat the “disastrous course” set under his reign, the United States should shut down Guantanamo Bay.

david and rayjay has 2 be the dumbset guys on the net!!! obama loves haters!!! they put him in the white house,ha,ha!!! gods people always win! no matter what color they are!!!
I love Obama he is the man that stood to make a change for once and here it is.
WHY ARE SO MANY PEOPLE ON HERE ARGUING ABOUT BLACKS BEING PROUD THAT OTHER BLACKS ARE FINALLY BEING RECOGNIZED FOR THEIR HARD WORK? OF COURSE OBAMA IS FOR EVERY ONE BUT WHY ARE BLACKS STILL BEING DISRESPECTED AND PUT DOWN?
President elect Obama is putting qualified people in positions of power regardless of race. He will not just serve us blacks but he will not purposely exclude us either as has been the norm for all of eternity in America. Regardless of what other races think I am proud to have a black president no matter who his mother was or who raised him or where his absent father was born!
well said seschris…
Sarah, Do u really have to ask that question? You should already know the answer to that one. Since the very beginning when our ancestors came over here on the boats, we have been mistreated because of the color of our skin. Blacks have had it hard. Read the black history books and you will see all the pain and the degredation that black people have had to endure. Look what martin luther king had to go through and all of his followers. Just read the books!!
Mr..Obama has been congratulated for running one of the best political campaigns ever. His educational background and his working career leds me to believe that Mr. Obama knows what he is doing and if he oesn’t know something he knows how and where to get the answer.
We have had 8 yrs of Bush. Mr Obama will need time and hard working people to all come together and make this a greater country than it is before the election ended.
Pray for him, his family and our soliders.

Barack Obama is proof that us African Americans have come a long way. I am very proud of him and the people who supported him all the way!
I never seen so much drama for a president who aint going to do anything those were just all promise and watch him not go by what his said. It was all said just so they can elect him like every president does.I didn’t vote for neither of them becaise they were both wack. What’s very dumb about this is that MOST black people I no voted for obama because he is black which is the most stupidest thing ever.It would of been a better thing if he was voted on by black people because of his goal for this country.

chanel,
honey stay in school cause your comment is totally wack just like you.
Sorry…Msron2u,
As profound as your formula seemed, Martin Luther King died April 4, 1968.
People of color please check your facts, SPELLING and grammar.
Hey ,everyone who`s positive out there, lets remain that way. Lets not let the opinions and that`s what they are, of small minded people, who has a right to express them, just like u and i. That`s why this is the USA . The difference is, people with any type of intelligence and maturity are willing to except change and work with whomever is fighting for the american people for that change. The unsimple fact that the person fighting for the American people , for unity and change, is half African American(and we must remember that) and give praise to his caucasin heritage as well, is expected to be ridiculed by the ignorance of those that`s not willing to except change and be unified.
So, we, in the African American community must continue to rise above the negative comments and racism directed at OUR
hey,
i guess i was cut off but i was going to close with trying to encourage us all to ignore the racial comments about OUR NEW BLACK PRESIDENT! Whatever he does or whomever he appoints, can`t be any worse than how screwed up the economy has been for the past 8 years. We (ALL) need to continue to support President Obama and respect and trust in he choices for us as the American people. So, don`t spend to much of our precious energy on the wasted opinions of those unwilling to except change. They`ll get over it. I bet they will except the stimulus money from a BLACK president! LOL!
Chanel, Since you didn’t vote for either one, you have no right to voice your opinion on Obama or the election period. People who dont vote should have no say about anything about the election. So just chill out dear. Go sit down and be quiet.
First of all I love you obama.I’m gald you are my predsident.Second of all where is all the coments that I made I do not see them anywhere.I really wants to be heard please put my coments up so people can see the real that I spoke. Please post it !!!!!!
First off, where are the issues? Who cares about race? I don’t like handouts, therefore I don’t like the stimulus. I believe in the constitution and have read it and believe it. I don’t believe governmental charity, I believe in private charity. If this man is the best attorney general so be it, I don’t know. I would have to research it based on his credentials, not his color. We are Americans people, not hyphenated Americans. If you are hyphenated, you are not American yet because until we are all one this country will never make it. Many of the races came here as slaves, do the history. As long as there is affirmative action, people won’t trust minorities to be qualified that’s a fact, gripe about it, cry about it, do what you want, but as long as it is there that will happen. Affirmative action hurts qualified minorities. I know – I have been there. We need to all be AMERICANS – not black Americans, Irish Americans, Mexican Americans because until that happens, we do not have an America worth saving. Obama is not a savior, he is a person. You may think he is the most popular president, but he is also the most hated.
