Obamas Denied Early Stay at Presidential Guesthouse

Obamas denied presidential guesthouse. Barack Obama may be the most popular incoming president in recent memory, but it won’t help him get a bed at Blair House before mid-January. Blair House is where newly elected commanders-in-chief traditionally move in five days before inauguration to the White House. The Obama clan initially “explored the idea” of an early check-in so daughters Sasha and Malia could start school in D.C. immediately after the Christmas break, a spokesperson says. But they were told that pre-scheduled events and guests at Blair House, which also lodges visiting dignitaries, prevents a move before Jan. 15. “The Blair House, the president’s guest house for visiting dignitaries, is available to President-elect Obama and his family starting Jan. 15, as is historically the case,” says Sally McDonough, a D.C. spokesperson. “As for any conversation, I don’t comment on specific conversations about transition details.” Obama’s transition team spokesperson says the White House has been “extremely accommodating” to the Obamas, and that process has been “smooth and friendly.”
Please let it be, the Obama family will be there on January 15, 2009. DO NOT WORRY BET.
Sadly i feel the same as a lot of the other posters. I usually look forward to
these updates, but this was crazy i thought that this was something serious, but it was just people following the rules. Get a life BET. Remember the power you have and use it wisely.

People “The Media” acts like the Obama’s don’t have nowhere to stay. They know they can fine adequate Fine accomodations before and until then!!! Much Ado about NOthin “as usual”

But, as others commented why is BET trying to make a “RACE” issue out of EVERYTHING???
this is a tradition that he not move in until 5 days b4 the arugation…. this is not something being done because he is black,, this is how it has always been done even for the WHITE presidents….
This is a poor excuse for news, I believe BET could do something better than this….

A) Obama, being 1/2 White, is a biracial President. Is an Oreo cookie a ‘Black’ cookie? ANYTHING that is 50% something can’t be 100% of anything…common sense.
B) MORE WHITE PEOPLE VOTED FOR OBAMA THAN ANY OTHER RACE, INCLUDING BLACKS. That’s just fundamental math. IF every Black person voted for Obama (far from the case since many didn’t even vote), and ALL the Whites voted for McCain, guess what?? Obama would still be senator. IF any race is to take credit for his win, it would be the Whites…PERIOD.
Seeing how now President Elect Obama has the status, everyone is would have to wait. It has always pretty much been the Euro /British rules of this country. He deserves the respect that anyone else who would get and I don’t believe that it would be any problem. All of these evil and partial barriers must come down sooner rather than latter. The office is what should get the respect as priority. Lets start by giving equal due.

ACTUALLY, it was young voters and 96 percent of American-Americans who voted for Barack, but it was the majority all-white state of Iowa that got the ball rolling. Besides if Blacks truly voted for Barack because he was Black, then why didn’t they do the same for Al or Jessie? Give Blacks SOME credit, we HAVE come a long way. You give Caucasian too much credit. It seems he was required to show his full birth certificate which he couldn’t produce therefore he has to wait until 5 days before when he can move in as the usurper = ineligible “president elect”… that’s all it is… :>)
It is news. The President-elect and his cannot just go out and rent a hotel room, their moves must include the Secret Service details. Also, other presidents with young children have been allowed to move in early
