Oprah’s Ex-Headmistress Sues Over Her Image
October 6th, 2008

Oprah’s ex-headmistress sues over her image.
The former honcho at Oprah’s institute for girls in South Africa is suing the billionaire founder, saying that she became a victim in Oprah Winfrey’s attempt to cover up charges of sexual and physical abuse at the school. Nomvuto Mzamane, the ex-headmistress at Winfrey’s Leadership Academy for Girls, said that Winfrey “launched what amounted to a defamatory campaign” last year. In demanding $250,000, she says that the talk-show host/philanthropist damaged her reputation by suggesting that she is “untrustworthy, failed the students of the academy, did not care about the students at the academy, knew of alleged physical and sexual abuse at the academy and participated in a cover-up of the alleged abuse.”

The victims here are Oprah and those kids – which is a shame because a black person from America cared enough about her distant roots to go back to the motherland and help folks there. And this is the payback and thanks she gets!!! Which in the end, hurts only those kids, cuz Oprah will eventually go home and apply her power elsewhere. Its criminal that “those people” could not control their sexual desire, or at least take it out side of that program. I just pray that one day we all have a collective epiphany and just stop hating and destroying eachother. And finally unite and as a race, and a people.
That would be so powerful.
I feel that the African woman waited just until the statue of limitation was about to run out because this did not just happen….it happened almost a year or so ago and if she was that upset then she should have came out withher feelings directly after to confrontation. I think that someone schooled her on the rules of suing and now she’s doing THE MAN’s job. Who’s selling out here?!
I hope that there is not an ounce of truth in that. Being that Oprah was a victim us such herself. Why would she allow something like that to be covered.
She probably just an old thristy trick looking 4 a quick buck.. LOL:-p…
Lauren, you sound shallow minded… Whatever you said in your comments. . . goes back to you!
If good old Opah kept her behind in America and help Blacks here she would not have this problem, however, she does not have help anyone because someone in the good old U.S.A. black or white is just waiting to sue her also. More money more problems. Opah will be the first person to take her money with her when she is dead, did you know she can also walk on water! All praise Opah!!
By the way do we black people even own BET or any television or major radio station ???
I BET THIS IS HER LAST TIME HELPING THE AFRICANS! WHAT A SHAME TO TRY TO SUE HER AFTER ALL SHE’S DONE TO HELP THESE YOUNG GIRLS. THEY COULD BE SQUATTING ON DIRT WITH A BIG BELLY BABY WITH FLIES FLYING AROUND THE FACE LOOKING HELPLESS! THEY SHOULD BE THANKFUL.
Replying to everyone talking non-sense.
First of all, all this talking is going off the main topic. Secondly, I will respect an opinion based on real facts. However, with all due respect, I will not accept/respect opinions based on movies, tv shows, documentaries and all the crap they show you on TV about Africa.
This dude Brian states that “Sexual abuse is actually tolerated and many times vindicated. If need be. Check up on Darfar, Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone etc.”, this other dude YLORD says “It was Africans that sold the other Africans to the Whites”…WHAT ARE YOU ALL TALKING ABOUT !!?
Nicole said it right: “Go to AFRICA and see the truth by yourself.” Watching HOTEL RWANDA type of movie is NOT enough. Attending and Paying close attention to your history class is not enough either.
First of all Oprah is not God and is not called to save the world. She earns her money and can spend it like she wants. Eveyone knows that she detests any form of child abuse(rape, molestations),as w all should and her response is not surprising. Any business that places someone as the overseer of their business will fire that indvidual(s) if they fail to do their job or cause a ngative outlook upon that business. Put yourself in her position, nobody is upset when white business owners fire people, they do it all the time and for many flakey reasons. It is a shame that we still look at each other by the color of our skin and not by the content of a person’s character. People are angry because she built a school in Africa, well many of our children don’t want to attend school, disrespect teachers and parents and don’t appreciate anything. So,why reward ignorance?
Nice,I just read this on a hot forum on tall dating site http://Tallmingle.com which is a hot dating site for all tall friends and tall singles.
DIVIDE AND CONQUER.. Africans vs African Americans???? Guess it really works
sad..
That’s how you get rich in America! The land of opportunity. Everybody’s suing everybody nowadays. It’s the newest get rich quick scheme!!! And that’s why we have insurance.
wow this is sad. i thought we left this “feeling” between africans and african americans behind as kids when we grew into “educated adults” but i guess not. it’s sad, so sad. other races (whites, latinos, etc) band together regardless of their country of origin but we do the opposite. look at how proud latinos are of their culture regardless of whether they were born here or else where. we will continue to be the minority as long as we stay divided!!
Miss Africana
With all due respect to say you are scared of African Americans is somewhat ridiculous. Africans in the motherland are extremely violent. To take a pregnant woman from a different tribe and stick a stick up her to cause her to make her miscarry is really scary and sick. The practice of @~?* as warfare is horrific. To chop up your fellow man with a machete is truly scary. We could go tick for tack all day. The next best move would be to incite social change towards “our people” Africans and African Americans a like.
the David was a mental retardation group. radical one at that.
As someone who is South African and is in a cultural exchange program, I think that in many ways, South Africa is a better place to live in. Yes, the US is powerful, wealthy etc but when it comes to the small things that bring people together South Africa wins. I am not saying we don’t have our problems, but I have found that people in the States are so quick to point fingers and divert attention to other countries’ problems when you have your own starving children, criminals, med ins problems and now economic problems that are affecting the rest of the world too. I speak from a perspective of someone having traveled the country a lot during the past 2 years.
Oprah, could have opened a school elsewhere in Africa. But she chose one of the top 3 wealthiest countries on that continent. Being a South African, and knowing the culture of my country, I can say that this is about defending her dignity. The money helps too, but it’s not the point. This was on the news here and DJs were mocking our accents, this coming from a country that claims to be the worlds Guardian Angels. I love this place though…flaws and all.
