Politics: Illinois Gov. Says He’ll Fight Impeachment
January 10th, 2009
Gov. Rob Blagojevich says he got where he is today by fighting for those who need strong public servants. So the embattled leader, accused of trying to sell President-elect Barack Obama’s old senatorial seat, will fight impeachment. The Illinois House voted 114-1, with three members not voting, in favor of removing Blagojevich. A grand jury will decide whether to indict the governor, which could ultimately result in his removal from office. It’s expected that the outcome of the proceedings will take no longer than February.
