Politics: Obama Distances Himself From Luda; Can Detroit Afford Not To Keep Kilpatrick?
July 31st, 2008Obama distances himself from Luda.

Barack Obama has distanced himself from a new Ludacris track which supports the Presidential hopeful. In the song called Politics (Obama Is Here) the rapper is critical of Sens. Hilary Clinton and John McCain while calling current president George Bush ‘mentally handicapped.’ The chorus of the song goes “The world is ready for change cos Obama is here,” but even that wasn’t enough to win over the Democrat. In a statement released by his team said: “This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend (Jesse) Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear.”
Rep. Carolyn Kilpatrick’s troubled son could affect a tight race for her seat. In a city like Detroit, which is facing record unemployment rates, rapid home foreclosures and decreased city services, the last thing Motor City voters should consider is sending a rookie to Washington to watch their backs. But as the race for Rep. Carolyn Kilpatrick’s seat heats up, it’s becoming clear that her troubled son, Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, has opened the door for the longtime congresswoman’s rivals to overtake her in the race to Capitol Hill.

McCain is practically hanging himself. Republicans don’t like him they just don’t want Obama. And the only thing that is hurting Obama is dumb ass black folks trying to get in his spot light. Barak is NOT for any race of people he just want to try a new thing. I understand Black people have something to say but MUST learn to express yourself more intelligently if you expect to be taken seriously. Not all black are from the streets and those who escape the streets escape through knowledge; without selling their soul or the soul of their brothers and sisters.
Ludacris churns out the garbage.
I don’t care for Obama either.
I lose more respect for Obama each time that he disassociates with his friends when they get contoversial.
I’m not a fan of the radical Rev. Jeremiah Wright either, but he shouldn’t have been thrown under the bus after the years that he and the Obama family have been acquanted.
Now it seems that it’s politically expedient for Obama to distance himself from Ludacris.
There is an obvious distance between politic ambitions and personal loyalty.
luda is trying to show his Estimation, but He went little bit to far when He mention to pain white house to black. i don’t think that this was Appropriate
thing to say.
Some of these posters are correct in their assessment. To white people this track Luda made is just another reason to not vote for Obama. They will vote for McCain even if they don’t agree with him. Just don’t let a black in office at all costs. I disagree with Renee the single mom who wanted Hillary for president. Apparently America is NOT ready for a woman president she had her supporters but it wasn’t enough. Everyone is tired of how the country has been run that’s a given. Obama is the first person speaking differently. But he has a narrow line to walk. I am proud of him because of who he is and I don’t care that he is biracial. When you look at him you see that he is black. It is inspiring considering the state of black men today. You think white people just let him in? What about some of them believing in what he says? There is no way that there are enough blacks in this country to get an elected official in office just based on one race. He will have to appeal to others also. And those stupid people trying to hold him back with lame excuses that he is muslim… why did that become an issue? 911. Jeremiah Wright a brilliant man who tells it like it is but they don’t like his delivery either. This is another excuse to not vote for him. Who’s the other ex terrorist dude? He was doing his dirt when Obama was kid for goodness sake! Now Luda, and Renee says she can’t support him because white people said it is alright now. How long do we have to wait? You take the chance when it is presented. If it is a chance for you to turn it into some good then that IS good. Ain’t no use pining over Hillary she’s gone. I was going to go for her but once Obama threw his hat in I was there.
i feel that obama do not have to agree with the song. but we as a people need to stop letting people dictate what we say”so call america has this great freedom of speech ‘ either he is going to win or not we cant keep letting white people dictate what we do /*/*/we as blasck always denouncing each other because of what the whit man think . im 37yrsold never seen a white person denounce any one its alway us.go ahead luda do your thing remeber we are in this so call great country america */*remeber we have freedom of speech “thats what they say lol
I find it unacceptable for a whole race of people to have to walk on egg shells simply because Sen Obama is running for president….I hope that Senator Obama does win and become president. Yes, I will vote for him. But guess what.???….he will never be able to bring about the lasting change in the way that has been broadcasted unless he stops running from race and as another person on this forum stated “tucking his tale” every time someone not of color shows disapproval toward someone of color… ……African Americans have been a discriminated and often oppressed people in this country for a very long time….in a way that no other ethnic group has…. (although a close runner up however wd be Jews) Thus, when someone such as a Barak Obama, Tiger Woods, Oprah Winfrey are able to push through the gates, then guess what??? A lot of us express pride and nationalism…. I see nothing wrong with that…. You have to have heroes and hope. Most African Americans are still not apart of the middle class and upper class.. The masses need those heroes and a little bit of nationalism (w/o hatred, of course). Now, perhaps some will say the timing is off for Luda to make his comments and that he did not help Obama….Who is to say that Luda’s comments will not inspire or reach out to a whole new group of youthful people of color that could not be reached by others…. A lot of people still dont vote and have never voted. This is despite a march in Selma and voting rights act. I have a cousin who is well over 30 who has never voted in her life, despite others encouraging her. I can see a difft outreach mechanism such as used by Luda working for her in ways that the other efforts have not….. just m 1/2 cents.
I’m having a problem with pastors, rappers, etc. being belittle because of their opinions. Just because we have Obama running for president, why all of sudden black people must watch what we say. White people say what they want to say about racism and they say it negatively; all they have to say is they are sorry and all is forgiven. I’ve always had a problem with white folks saying they are sorry after making statements about racism; why make the statements in the first place?
A good leader must be like God; no respecter of person.
Rapper don’t know the impact they can have on such. I really feel that Luda was trying to help and went about it.. maybe a little too expressive. Obama hadn’t always said the right things too, when it come to the black community.
It’s time to stop being shady and start raising some awareness!
idk wut the hell goin on but ik that song was TIGHT! HAHAHAHA!. but nah on a serious note, luda shudnt have done it like that, he wasnt right 4 dat…but AFTER elections when Obama dun already won, he shudda ripped somethin like dis on em! lol
Frances Brown….speak the truth and shame the devil. We are such docile people we still don’t believe we are free. When Kanye West said what he said after the Katrina “Bush don’t care about black people” black folk were afraid like we were going to be rounded up and shipped somewhere. In “Beef” rappers are always calling one another out and no one has ever said one word, because it makes money, so why now? And do we really think what anyone says has any power to stop Obama from getting elected, If it is Gods will no man can stop it. The bible was not lying with the written words “My people perish for lack of knowledge”. Luda must have been telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth or they wouldn’t have cared, go Luda, because speaking out brutha could cost you and no one will be there for you, same way no one was there for Arsenio Hall, not even the one he spoke up for. Will we ever wake up?
I, personally like Ludacris, however; I, too, must ask, “What were you thinking”? We are trying to put Senator Obama in the White House, and Black people cannot do it alone.Hiliary still has her supporters, I, for one, would prefer that her supporters vote for Obama rather than McCain, and some people are not going to consider this ,”a song by Ludacris, supporting Obama. It might be considered, “a song by Ludacris disrespecting Hiliary and McCain while supporting Obama.” Ludacris is a very intelligent man, but I don’t understand, “What were you thinking”? We have to stay focused if we want this to become a reality. Blessings.
Ludacris seems to have lost his marbles but then most of these rap artistes are so dumb and illiterate that they are only capable of communicating at a certain level and to a certain class and that’s the difference education makes.
Regardless of what Luda had said in his song…. It should’nt have anything to do with Obama, He (OBAMA) didnt say it nor did he make Luda say it. So if they was to knock Obama for what someone else had said thats because they wanted to do that anyway. Now take a break an think about that… Its like he say she say on the street u cant always put at fought the person that they are pointing the fingure at, RIGHT!!! Cuz most of the time it not he/she fought or it all could be madeup
I think the song it was hillarious and I love Luda for saying all the things that everyone has been thinking. How many times have Jay Leno and all the other nightshow host made fun of bush and McCaine, and they are on T.V., it’s crazy to talk down about what luda said, he just spoke his feelings and the feelings of alot of other people. The only way I think this could hurt Obama is if it starts to intimidate some white people and they start thinking that putting a black man in power will give black people too much power, and their are people already thinking that. Do ya thang boo, I love you and GO Obama!!
MikeyD…….You have no idea what you are talking about. Luda is extremely intelligent and nowhere near being dumb or illiterate. And there are quite a few very educatedrappers out there do your research before you open your mouth sir. If your going to talk down about Luda talk bad about Jay Leno and all those talk show host that make fun of and talk bad about political figures all the time. One more thing, it doesn’t take a formal education to be smart, especially with the World Wide Net just a click away, it takes initiative.
whatever happen 2 freedom of speech does it not apply 2 luda?
I can understand Barack thinking better of supporting Luda’s ideal lyrics and this is a serious time to tighten up, but we weren’t really expecting Ludacris to come out with a marry ole’ political jingle now were we? This is Ludacris’s
style and while we can’t applaud his content in support of Barack Obama, we should still show love for his effort.
All he doing is supporting Barack Obama aint nothing the matter with that!!!!
