Politics: Obama Distances Himself From Luda; Can Detroit Afford Not To Keep Kilpatrick?

July 31st, 2008

Obama distances himself from Luda.

Ludacris

Barack Obama has distanced himself from a new Ludacris track which supports the Presidential hopeful. In the song called Politics (Obama Is Here) the rapper is critical of Sens. Hilary Clinton and John McCain while calling current president George Bush ‘mentally handicapped.’ The chorus of the song goes “The world is ready for change cos Obama is here,” but even that wasn’t enough to win over the Democrat. In a statement released by his team said: “This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend (Jesse) Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear.”

Rep. Carolyn Kilpatrick’s troubled son could affect a tight race for her seat. In a city like Detroit, which is facing record unemployment rates, rapid home foreclosures and decreased city services, the last thing Motor City voters should consider is sending a rookie to Washington to watch their backs. But as the race for Rep. Carolyn Kilpatrick’s seat heats up, it’s becoming clear that her troubled son, Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, has opened the door for the longtime congresswoman’s rivals to overtake her in the race to Capitol Hill.

Well I think luda is smart enough to know better. So here is another twist. Blacks folks have been turning each other for years. That is how we got to this country in part. So slip this thought under your hat. Maybe the rebulicans paid him to make the track knowing the affect it would have. Wouldn’t be the first to we have sold each other out for a dollar.

We must understand that not everyone will voice their opinion the same way. Mr Luda… Is just saying what many of us are saying on this site , As a young Black man who has been frustrated by this system Luda has the power to speak and say what others only wish they can do. Mr Obama has to object to Ludas thoughts because he is on a diffrent playing field. Even if he did agree with most of Ludas words

Good analogy Chuck! After all other Africans sold Africans into slavery!

On the other hand maybe Luda thought he was giving props to Obama, just by doing what he does….entertaining.

The fact remains good or bad…..positive or negative…someone WILL buy it.

I mean come the F*** on!!……Can we get in office 1st before we try to mess it up!! Thats all the white folks need to see and hear us actin a fool so they can say “if we let that N*****” in office this is how there gonna act”? We cant give them that! Come on black people, can we just keep quiet and relax until we get in office then we can put it all out there! Luda should have known better! That was a N***A move fo sho!!! We need to be better then that right now…..we havent got there yet!!! This is the perfect example why “OPRAH” does not support our HIP HOP community! Yea I know most dont care about Oprah, but she is the richest BLACK human bein in the world and she’s not even backing us up!!! And this is the perfect example why! Remember “A STEEL TONGUE CARRIES A WISE HEAD” ………think about it!

Luda…a rapper. You already have negative critics against you in mainstream America. Like the others have said Obama is running for president of the U.S. Instead of making a song, help him out with campaign money or SPEAKING positive about his in local communities and make sure people are registered to vote, and jusrt being you, you have a somewhat influence on how people may vote.

People this is freedom of speech .Is this the american way? Here in the state we rule a democratic world, and what luda is doing is nothing but FREEDOM OF SPEECH ,or this issue is all about a black person doing a song and a black person runnig for president?

TO MARK GILBERT!!! Hilary’s job and mcaains job was to defeatt obama kuz there goin for the same position. Luda job was to help support obama but he’s actually Hendering him now!!! Ask ya self who did Luda help by making that record!!!! PLUS HELLO!!!!! WE ARE THE MINORITY!!! WE CANT DO WHAT THEY DO BRUH!!! WE ARE STILL LIVING IN A RACIST ECONOMY!! AND THE SAME WAY YOU THINK IS THE SAME WAY LUDA THOUGHT AND LOOK!!! NOT SMART…….YOU NEED TO GROW UP!

THINK ABOUT IT YO, WIT YO SIMPLE ASS!!!

White people are going to use Kwame’s problems in Detroit against his mother’s bid for another term in Washington! They will use anything against us. Too bad Kwame didn’t think about anything or anyone except opening his fly. The ramifications will have on his mother’s career inWashington will definately be used to oust her of her seat!

If you’re making the kind of money Luda is making then you would assume that he has enough money to be intelligent enough not to do some things. Its this kind of crap that messes it up for everybody. We just can’t win for losing can we?

I don’t reallty care what Luda said in his song cuz that’s all it is…a song for pure entertainment.. it’s not like Obama wrote the lyrics, why did anyone expect to “back” Luda up? With all the confusion about controversy w/ Gov Patrick and Jesse Jackson who even cares about what a rapper has to say? I don’t wanna hear any songs on the radio regarding politics. Although I did hear a song with an ill ass beat by Movado singing about Borak “making a change” and I gotta admit I didn’t listen to the lyrics but the music was fire!!!

Jwrtr68 Said on

This is not a battle, its a war! You win it one battle at a time, no more no less. This is quite a bit more complicated than who can diss who the hardest. Anything too strong and you look callous and malicious to the American public. Obama must always distance himself from anything that could hamper his White House quest, PERIOD!!!! Remember in real life (just like in the entertainment business) people put on a good front regarding how “tough” they really are. This is nothing but tactics and all those utilized by Obama have to be carefully chosen 24-07-365.25 YA HEARD!!!!! He ain’t tryin’ to become the next chief of police, the mayor, the state treasurer (he’s already an Illinois senator) no, no, no, no!!! He is after the PRESIDENCY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Something no man or woman of color has ever done before. Luda can piggy back on something alot less significant and still get his paper, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaasssssssssseee!!! Don’t f*ck it up man…..

Nichelle Said on

I haven’t heard the song so I can’t say much. I think that sometimes people in a position like Luda want to tell the world how they feel and they don’t care if it offends anyone. I think that he wants those he talks about to be offended by their own actions not so much his words. Like I said I haven’t heard it so I really can’t say, but the one thing we need to remember is that there is a strong need for change all across the board we need to do our best to see those changes not hinder them

J Said on

Honestly, who cares? It was a song about Luda’s views on the political climate in this country, and Barack is supposed to distance himself from the song. Luda does not need to contact the campaign for clearance to produce a song, are you serious? I’m a huge Obama supporter, and am a fan of Luda, and the fact of the matter is that this is another one of the stories that is negative and shouldn’t have been published by BET. Why are we getting upset with stuff and posting inflaming remarks to others about the way things are going in this country. If you support Barack, vote for him and convince others to vote for him that may be leaning toward McCain, or don’t have any intentions on voting. Never before am I glad and proud that I’m 28 and not a part of that BET culture. This story is asanine and does not help push the message of the Obama campaign. When according to the LA Times, 72% of news stories on the Obama campaign are negative, BET sure the hell adds to it.

Mark Gilbert..I’m not late on Luda, believe I know all about luda, hell his first single was about a females poo-nanny, you rememer the song “that fat rabbit”. However, you cannot deny that Ludacris was so call representing a positive rapper, he was getting all these major endorsements and even about to be inducted into the music hall of fame from what I heard this morning over the local radio station. You saw more of him giving speeches at the Grammys all decked out in a nice suit instead of baggy jeans with his undies showing, hell he even cut those braids off to give a cleaner look. So he did do a 360 to write and rap such crap when its not needed right about now. like my grandma says, Shame on You, Shame Shame Shame!!!

skipper Said on

keep rapping LUDA. pretty soon Obama is going to wind up denouncing everybody and anybody who he feels offends white people.
He needs to show the courage and start denouncing people like Ann Couletr, and Chris Matthews and Bill O’Reily.

paulette Said on

where can i hear this song at?

Hambone Said on

While Obama does not endorse the song, and I have not heard the song to date, I bet the lyrics are TRUE!!!! In the race of his life, Obama can not support the song….even if he agree!

Jeff Said on

I personal understand the message that Ludacris lyrically tried to employ through the minds and perspectives of the voting people. Like everyone acknowledge, a man has the divine and human right to speak his mind. Ludacris being a rapper chose to lyrically depict Obama as a presidential hero instead of a waste of time….George Bush on the other hand being belligerent and supercilious put America in a bind that Ludacris feels that only Obama can perspire us from. Obama has the right to his opinion, but in the eyes of that one rapper Ludacris feels that Obama is a hero.
