Politics: Obama Distances Himself From Luda; Can Detroit Afford Not To Keep Kilpatrick?

July 31st, 2008

Obama distances himself from Luda.

Ludacris

Barack Obama has distanced himself from a new Ludacris track which supports the Presidential hopeful. In the song called Politics (Obama Is Here) the rapper is critical of Sens. Hilary Clinton and John McCain while calling current president George Bush ‘mentally handicapped.’ The chorus of the song goes “The world is ready for change cos Obama is here,” but even that wasn’t enough to win over the Democrat. In a statement released by his team said: “This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend (Jesse) Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear.”

Rep. Carolyn Kilpatrick’s troubled son could affect a tight race for her seat. In a city like Detroit, which is facing record unemployment rates, rapid home foreclosures and decreased city services, the last thing Motor City voters should consider is sending a rookie to Washington to watch their backs. But as the race for Rep. Carolyn Kilpatrick’s seat heats up, it’s becoming clear that her troubled son, Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, has opened the door for the longtime congresswoman’s rivals to overtake her in the race to Capitol Hill.

hello, i am responding about the statements that were made in his song , i am not understanding why nlack people always have something to say we have came a long way in this life. i just hope that this does not affect sen, obama’s campain.

Tianna Said on

although, that wasnt helpful to obama’s campain Ludacris had a point I dont care the track had alot said, i think that if obama gets elected which I want someone will hurt him in some kind of way whether its verbally, or physically he might get assainted . If Ludacris hadn’t made that track most of the people wouldn’t have heard whats good.

Tianna Said on

by the way, i support obama all the way along with ludacris They got my Full support, and if obama gets elected this might just lead us to another world war or maybe even segregation again. or this might just change the war

Tianna Said on

By the way, Im supporting obama all the way along with Ludacris but Obama being elected might just lead us to another World war or segregation, Obama might just make history and change the world. He should think about the consequences to the first black male president

I’m not going to beat up on Luda, the government ordered us the right of
freedom of speech……rappers do it……..blacks do it…….whites do it……all
races of people do it……..we all have our own PERSONAL opinions and
Luda has his. I agree to everything he says……and I’m still going to vote
for Obama……no, he didn’t mean any harm to hurt anyone…….just to be
aware of the situation that’s happening 4 REAL…….believe me, you, things
are being said about Obama that would make you want to start a riot…..
you just don’t hear them……….at the end of the day…..YES 4 Obama……..
YES for Luda

Luda is very intelligent but on this particular move he didn’t think too much of the consequences… Stop playing in the hands of the haters….it’s time for Luda to grow up and spit some rhymes on something that will prove to be productive. Freedom of speech yeah …I see that but in my opinion it wasn’t a smart move….Obama faces enough negative vibes, news, comments, you name it as it is….sometimes intentions that were meant to be good are not always received as such!

Luda made the song to support Obama the way he knows how. Props to Luda for the support. But, just because Obama has gotten to this point, the game in politics is hasn’t changed. So whatever ‘we’ do or say is going to be taken misconstrued and used as ammunition against the campaign. Everyone is watching. I love Luda and Obama, but, because we’re under so much scrutiny we need to watch our backs – as usual.

THE SONG WAS DIVISIVE , THE LYRICAL CONTENT WEAK. LUDA HAS REALLY DISAPPOINTED ME. WHITE PEOPLE ALREADY ERRONEOUSLY THINK THAT WE WANT TO DO TO THEM WHAT THEY DID TO US. WHEN YOU SPIT LYRICS THAT SOUND LIKE HATRED ALL IT DOES IS REINFORCE THOSE THOUGHTS. AMERICA IS ABOUT COMING TOGETHER NOW, WE CAN ‘T TOLERATE IGNORANCE NO MATTER WHAT RACE. LUDA DIDN’T THINK ABOUT THE COMMON BLACK MAN WHO IN THIS ERA OF SYSTEMIC INEQUITIES HARDLY HAS A CHANCE. OBAMA MIGHT BE ABLE TO BALANCE THINGS BUT NOW HE IS THAT MUCH FURTHER FROM BRINGING MORE LOVE AND PEACE TO A SITUATION THAT HAS SO MANY COMPLEXITIES. I KNOW SOME OF US ARE ANGRY AND HURT THAT WE HAVE BEEN MARGINALIZED. OUR CULTURE SOMETIMES CARICATURIZED BUT NOW IS THE TIME TO REMEMBER THE WORDS OF AUDRE LORDE “WE CAN’T TEAR DOWN THE MASTERS HOUSE WITH THE MASTERS TOOLS” IN OTHERWISE WE CAN’T BE HATEFUL, IGNORANT, BIASED AGAINST OTHERS, WE OF ALL PEOPLE KNOW HOW IT FEELS TO BE CALLED NAMES, SPIT ON, KILLED, HUNG, LEFT OUT OF THE JOB HUNT, THE HOUSE BUY. IT IS TIME THAT WE SHOW PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY IN OUR EFFORTS TO PROMOTE EQUITY FOR ALL PEOPLE NOT JUST BLACK PEOPLE. AND THAT MEANS THINKING ABOUT THE WORDS WE SPEAK, WORDS OF HATRED ARE NOT OK TOWARDS ANYBODY! LUDA, I BEG YOU PLEASE, GET A COLLEGE DEGREE AND YOUR RAP LYRICS WILL EVOLVE EXPONENTIALLY.

Now we can’t be so hard on Luda. Kanye West brought it out !st when he made the track “George Bush Don’t Like Black People”.Nobody had anything to say then.Luda is glad a there is a change trying to be made.He shouldn’t hv said those things abt Sen. Clinton bcs i wld actually prefer her to be president due to she is the 1st lady president. But we shouldn’t down talk Luda for his well being.

Bos Ladi Said on

What do you people want??? First it’s the rappers are to hardcore, they do not like the lyrics. Now it’s they are trying to stay away from this one or that one at least they are doing something postive and making the public look at politics.

young Said on

Luda my boy but that wasn’t a smart or supportive move. They stay on Obama a** and publicize every small/big thing that has sumthin’ to do w/him so Luda should have thought that one out.

Tom Said on

Luda is just like a lot of Rapper vulgar and nasty they change when they have kids and they get old enough to listen to there junk.

boaz Said on

It is nice for Luda to want to show his support. Lets think for a minute. I wonder if he could have made the song without the profanity. It is nothing wrong with dissing the other side, but lets show them that we can be dignified. After all the brother is running for president. Lets show some class and respect for that office that we want him in.
