Politics: Obama Distances Himself From Luda; Can Detroit Afford Not To Keep Kilpatrick?

July 31st, 2008

Obama distances himself from Luda.

Ludacris

Barack Obama has distanced himself from a new Ludacris track which supports the Presidential hopeful. In the song called Politics (Obama Is Here) the rapper is critical of Sens. Hilary Clinton and John McCain while calling current president George Bush ‘mentally handicapped.’ The chorus of the song goes “The world is ready for change cos Obama is here,” but even that wasn’t enough to win over the Democrat. In a statement released by his team said: “This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend (Jesse) Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear.”

Rep. Carolyn Kilpatrick’s troubled son could affect a tight race for her seat. In a city like Detroit, which is facing record unemployment rates, rapid home foreclosures and decreased city services, the last thing Motor City voters should consider is sending a rookie to Washington to watch their backs. But as the race for Rep. Carolyn Kilpatrick’s seat heats up, it’s becoming clear that her troubled son, Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, has opened the door for the longtime congresswoman’s rivals to overtake her in the race to Capitol Hill.

The one thing that everyone needs to remember is that Obama is white also. So when you (Luda) offend or try to degrade whites, just be reminded that you are also degrading Obama’s own mother. WTH is up with that?! I am a white female and republican but Obama is the only democratic candidate who has ever made me think of voting democrat and that is b/c he just comes off as pure, good values, and a damn good man to me. Luda, you haven’t ruined that for me but may have for other white republicans out there thinking the same way I am. Do you really want this man in office or do you want record sales more? I’m thinking it’s all about statis and sales w/you. Sorry you feel that way about us. Why go there if not about publicity? Yes times have changed….have you Luda? Don’t be a dumbass!

IT DON’T MATTER HISTORY IS IN THE MAKING AND I’M GLAD I’M GONNA BE HERE TO WITNESS IT.THANK LUDA FOR SPEAKING UP CAUSE ALL THE HATERS WOULD NOT HAVE DONE IT AND GO OBAMA

i understand luda is showing his support but although we all hate to admit it. rap is really not popular on the level he got himself into. because rap has a certain reputation, it may be a problem that he did this.

I THINK LUDA SHOULD SAY SORRY TO ALL THOSE PEOPLE HE SAID OFFENSIVE WORDS TO, JUST FOR THE SAKE OF PEACE.HE CAN SAY WHAT EVER HE LIKES AFTER THE ELECTION BUT NOT NOW…….BECAUSE RAPPER ARE WELL KNOWN FOR THEIR OFFENSIVE WORDS.

*%~# all of them let the man make his music, when it don’t sell then the idiot will stop. ENOUGH SAID!!!!!!!!!

I understand that Luda has a message…

But a point can be made without being offensive…

We all have to understand that delivery is key. Now we all got offended when Bill Cosby commenced to telling us about ourselves right? Because of the way he said what he said. This is the same thing but the other way around. Black people are not the only race on the planet. You can’t talk that blackspeak to people who are not. You have to communicate in a way that THEY will understand. In my opinion, all controversy aside… I like the song. It is raw, that’s for sure, but it has no place in the political arena. He made some points in the song about voting, something that many black people do not do. He’s got a head on his shoulders and I hate to say it but beyond the young set hip hop the rap part of it does not translate very well. This is the biggest problem. We have to understand we are different because we make ourselves different and other races think of us as different. They said that stuff about rock/acid rock but those are white boys, they seem to get away with that satanic crap that they put out but the thing is you don’t hear all of that negatism about that.

Hip hop is loud in ya face music, everyone does not receive that, they can boldly straightup cold turn the music off when that hard sinister beat creeps in and you want the message heard but it gets lost in the presentation. Telling other people(races) to grow up isn’t the message. The growth must come from the messenger.

I think we have all for gotten Freedom of speech! s we all know other politics are using it freely, the majority of African Americans aren’t aware of what’s going on, and rap and music is a way to be heard about how important it is to vote if we want a change. His lyrics were his opinion and NoT OBAMA’S if we can noticed that then we can focus on Bigger issues in the world instead of Lyrics artist make. We have to be stong if we want an Obama Nation! We have to stick together no matter what, even if you find the song offensive some one else who is into politics get’s the point and it paint’s a picture for them.

It’s time for a Change!

I dont know what the problem is. I think the song is funny. Luda was just expressing his self. So leave him alone.

first.. the previous commentator obviously didnt pay attention to anything he said.. this song did not reflect anything ghetto in the slightest the song was actually pretty good the only thing that i dont think he shouldve done was call Hilary a B…. although alot a people might agree.. but most of what he said was on point.. I pretty sure if you take a poll of the oldest american to the midage americans George Bush will end up in the bottom two for best presidents…But as much as i love an Obama supporter.. mainstream rappers should stay away from endorsements because unfortunately allthough this shouldnt be much of a surprise but rappers endorsements of Obama makes white people very nervous for some reason and in the grand scheme of things those of them that are wavering will give that vote to mccain just because they know he’s white.. where as situations like this leave them guessing as to “how ‘Black’ is Obama?, “How down of a brother is “, when these questions are far from the issue at hand.

It’s nothing wrong with freedom of speech but in this day and age we have to be mindful of how our freedom of speech effects others, especially our very own candidate who is trying to stay free from negativity while running for president. It’s like this… white folks are going to think what they want to think about us regardless of LUDA’s song. Remember white people did not like us because of the color of our skin!… so what we say and what we do will not change the way many white people think about us anyway. We have to change because we can be and want to do better not because we are trying to change how others feel or think about us. Obama is going to have it rough from the white folks once he is elected pres…lets not make it even harder for me. Please people and even more importantly.. Remember to vote.

Jeanine Said on

Let’s not make it harder for Obama.

Jeanine Said on

Correction….*Let’s not make it harder for Obama!

the only thing i have to say is “I dont care what he says about Obama. He is a black man running for president. And frankly I believe everyone should look at how all this happened. In the first place how did a ex-republician become candid for running as a democratic candidate. I thought black people was beyond wanting a black president and just want a change for the better. I dont like McCain. But i do trust Hillary to a certain point. I’m a black struggling single mom. And something just aint right. Why all of a sudden we finally get what us black people wanted and thats a black man running for president. Again us blacks let the white man give us his choice. And thats how i feel, And the only reason white people is for change its because that are tired of war producing republician. the white people want their kids to come home too. Thats the only reason why we getting what we want because the white man is tired of the white man but at the same time half white Halt black that may have been the only reason why he got in there. I’m sorry we always given in and accepting what the white man allows us to do . i’m sorry i dont trust it. i wanted it but not so much now. I hope we get what we wanted.

Just leave luda alone and let him do his thing!! Thumbs up to luda.

KUchica Said on

Talk about sabotage…Luda its called commons sense…why on earth couldn’t he make a postive song something that would represent Obama in the right way…maybe he doesn’t watch FOX news among other stations and see how every little thing Obama does or that is associated with him in any little way is used against him to show “America” why Obama shouldn’t be president. I mean every news outlet is taking this song and running with it. If Luda was really an Obama supporter he would have thought twice before putting that song out.

Jaquetta Velvet Said on

Luda has the right to say what he wants. He is just supporting what Obama is doing. Not trying to hurt his campaign. If you really take notice he is getting the support of he Hip hop community. They have money poor peolple don’t. I think it is a great accomplishment for him to write a whole song about it. When Emenim did it when Bush was runnning for office its the same outcry for the Lower class people. Even the middle class are feeling the effects. That also means Upper class is feeling it to. We all support what Obama stands for and his beliefs. That the bottom line to his message.

Susan B Said on

We all have a time in our lives where we have what you call “Quality Moments” . Ludacris messed his up. Sure he’ll keep making music and certain folks will lkeep buying it but he had the opportunity to do something positive in history and his immaturity lead the way.

pennie Said on

Luda Why!!!!!!! would you say such mess. You know we need Obama so why make it harder then it already is. Stop acting like white folks saying stupid things, you know we cant get away with anything, and we should always want to look better then them. Some one said it right ,he Luda should have checked with Obama camp to see if those words was ok to say, ask do you think this is going to help him or hert him. Lets get POSITIVE my people.

rodrick bryant Said on

Luda come on dogg!! I know u are smarter then that ,this is the real world u messing with not some diss track.I think Obama can handle him self dont make it look like a stage full of only blacks, that can become a problem.

Jaynee Said on

I really don’t know what Ludacris’ intent was but I do know that he did not help Obama at all. I hear that Obama gave Ludacris a complimlent by
calling him a great talentso maybe he thought he was helping him by dissing his detractors. So please, my people stop and think before you act. This incident is only assuring the other side that they should do all they can to keep us in our, so called, place. What we all need to do is talk to our non-voting sisters and brothers and get them to register and vote for Obama. This is the only thing that can truly get him elected, You can bet that the other side is working on getting out the vote for their candidate and watching everything we do and say to find a way to pin it on Obama and squash him.
