Politics: Obama’s Popularity Remains Unscathed
December 16th, 2008
Obama’s popularity remains unscathed. Despite the recent scandal, in which Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich is accused of trying to sell President-elect Barack Obama’s vacated seat in the U.S. Senate to the highest bidder, Obama’s popularity among the American people has not been affected negatively, a new Washington Post-ABC News poll reveals. In fact, an overwhelming 75 percent of Americans approve of the way that Obama is working his way into office, a rise from three weeks ago, and most believe he’s satisfied their questions about any possible connections between his staff and the embattled Illinois governor. According to the poll, two in three Democrats and slightly more than half of Independents (51 percent) say that Obama has sufficiently explained discussions with the governor. However, the same percentage of Republicans percent say Obama has not done enough. (The Republican National Committee has been hammering a connection between Obama and Blagojevich.) And when it comes to whether Obama is honest and trustworthy, Republicans are a lot less likely to doubt the president-elect’s credentials. On the other hand, an astonishing 89 percent of Democrats and 63 percent of Independents see him as honest and trustworthy. Still, a full 59 percent of Republicans approve of the way Obama is transitioning into office.

I cannot see how this would affect him because this is a seat he is leaving. The only people who would have benefited is the gov since he was looking for money (ie, play to pay) and or someone stupid enough to try and pay for that senate seat. Therefore I am pretty sure this has nothing to do with Obama. So keep throwing jello on the wall and see what will stick. Get real. If any thing, people in his team will and should make it their business to try and keep their noses clean. People should stop and think before wasting time on nonsense. The economy and other more important things needs focusing on. We got bigger fish to fry.
Good luck to Obama…..
Peace.

We got bigger fish to fry. This seat is a seat that Obama has promoted out of to become President of the United States. The gov was using his power to make money and not keep the people that elected him in mind. This pay to play is really discusting. However, Illloinois isn’t know for it stellar politics. I can’t see where Obama would fit in because he wasn’t runing for what the gov was selling. If any thing, those in Obama’s circle should make sure they do everything by the book to avoid such embarrassments. The economy and other things needs help no time for this nonsense. Let the feds take care.
Good luck to Obama.
Peace.
