Out of all the pics you chose this.(most recent was fly she lost a lot of weight) You know what it really doesn’t matter Because swift was a beautiful person inside (quoting people that knew her) and out. It says a lot about a K-swift because her passing brought the whole Baltimore community together, we all feel a sense of loss. I have never met her, but have purchased her cd’s for my teenaged daughter.
I have “shaked off “to her mixes in my living room chilling with my kids. She truly knew how to get a party jumpimg. If you never had the opportunity to party with her….You truly missed out on a rockin ass party.

She will definitely be missed. One of the most prolific Dj’s on the east coast. My prayers go out to her family.

First of all: Pam, it said she had a fractured neck, presumably by jumping in shallow water. (I hate to say it but alcohol may have been a factor. I hope not, but we’ll see.) By doing chest compressions to someone who has just dived into a pool and bumped her head, fracturing her neck, could have proved to be just as deadly. Some of those people at the party thought about that, although no one posting here has yet. I’m sure they decided to err on the side of caution.

Secondly: Celina… Old picture or not… it’s HER. The DJ is DEAD and all you can worry about is what picture they used of her because of an old weight issue! It’s not like they photoshop’d a picture to demean her. THAT’S HER. Whether past or present her legacy has nothing to do with her size. Concentrate on something else!

What an incredible loss this is. I remember picking up that station and listening to her show as we drove thru Baltimore! I’m a former dj myself and had MUCH love and respect for her! You will be soooooooo very missed ma, we love you!

K-Swift will be missed. I remember she was the DJ at my Senior Prom ( Hey City), Super Sunday at Hammerjacks, and The Parodox on Friday nights. She was always so positive and she definantly “Put on for her City”. Always repping Bmore to the fullest. She’s gone but never forgotten. Were riding for you here in Bmore Swift!! We LOVE YOU. BET you all do need to put up a better picture. Swift has lost so much weight since this pic was taken. I don’t think she wanted to be remembered like that. Otherwise why would she lose the weight?

Had someone touched her the fractured neck could have and probably would have gone straight to a broken neck and you would be blaming the poor person who “tried” to help. A similar incident occurred in my family when my mother suddenly lost consciousness while in the car with my sister. My sister at age 49 didn’t know CPR. Luckily she was still at the health factlity and had not driven off and quickly got aid for my mother. “My people perish for lack of knowledge.” CPR is an easy procedure to learn and even a young child can do it. If you have a pool or have love ones who have health risks you should know CPR. Tragedies like these can be avoided. The worst thing is to know this procedure and still not render aid out of doubt or fear. This is shameful.

being a 10 year nurse the one thing people afraid of is putting their mouth on another person, and i understand that. so if you find yourself in front of an uncounscious person, just do chest compressions til help arrives, at least the blood can still circulate thus giving the body the oxygen that blood has. sorry that she had to leave this earth too soon, but God loved her more. I was fortunate enough to be educated by her mother in the Baltimore City School System. As an adult I came back to give back to the school and was reconnected with Mrs. Edgerton; the mother of this beautiful young woman. Her mother was so proud of her daughter’s accomplishments and it is to her that I send my heart felt sympathy. K-Swift was a remarkable, one of a kind gem who will truly be missed. All those who were lucky enough to know her personally were blessed. Rest in peace K-Swift. Your legacy lives through all those you touched.

I hear you Lashelle… moreover, all the adults who helplessly stood by at her party should take up CPR in memory of K-Swift. Yes, we should all stop being ignorant in this regard and know CPR. My dad had a pool like that when I was growing up. You can not dive in shallow water that is only 4 or 5 feet deep. If she had lifeguards there, where were they? They probably thought she was playing, being as though she was a lifeguard before herself. I don’t know; such a freak accident.

Its true that her neck was fractured but no one knew that. Many have survived a broken neck and lived. The rule of thumb is to attempt CPR when a victim is unconscious.

I’m sorry this happened to her…I remember almost drowning when I was younger…I wish someone was able to save her..RIP God Bless the DMV!!

Its sad she died this way. But, like so many on this blog has said–people need to learn CPR. So, honor her memory and learn it. Its not that difficult. While you at it, learn basic first aid tips too. We cant bring her back, but we can save others. Learn something from this ordeal–go to your local Red Cross office they have classes often. I’m just lost for words. I can’t believe that a life just slipped away so easily. I wonder how her family feels, knowing that her life possibly could’ve been saved; yet, instead it just washed away due to shocked spectators who didn’t have the rapid reaction or common sense to help this talented young lady. As a mother, I would be furious if I knew my child had a fighting chance and no one did anything about it.

It’s a sad loss indeed. Unfortunately none of us know when or how we will meet our fate. There’s always gonna be unanswered questions, anger and maybe even guilt that no one did anything to prevent this tragedy from happening. There is a reason though for everything no matter how cruel, unexpected, or tragic.(We just dont have them). The main thing is to cherish her memory and all the happiness, peace and love those who knew her had the opportunity to be a part of. Keep her legacy alive. We can only accept what has happened and allow her soul to be at peace. Know that “GOD” had a plan for her that he felt had been fulfilled.

I am so sorry to hear about this !!! It is too sad to give a party with the most selfish people around you, not one deserved to be in her presence if they could not even attempt to perform any kind of CPR !!!! Come on its common sense if she was unconscious when she lifted out of the pool, that there is water in her lungs, so get it out !!! You could have done some chest compressions like the lady said in an ealier email !! That is if you felt funny about touching her lips to give her oxygen. I know the people at the party are horrified at home by themselves thinking about what they could have and should have attempted to do. Come on black people stop waiting for someone else and take the initiative to do the right thing !!!

While reading this post I must say that there are many mixed emotions about K-Swifts tragic death ranging from anger, frustration, sadness, mourning, but most of all LOVE. And thats key to keeping Khia’s memory alive. We all can sit here and say that “this” and “that” should’ve been done and that maybe her life could have been spared but NONE of us can really speak on it unless you were there yourselves. You have no idea what went through those peoples minds at the time. If they were drinking then #1 they were not in their right, sober mind, and even if you’re buzzed your reaction time is slowed slightly. And if you all really looked into her death, her neck was SEVERELY fractured and combined with the fact that she was underwater so long with that severe of an injury CPR was completely hopeless. And i dont want no “rookie” to attempt CPR on my child and put her thru any more unneccessary pain whether she was unconscious or not. To us her life was cut short but to God it was right on time, Lets not dwell or her death but celebrate her life and legacy that will continue to shine in not only Bmore but in clubs and radio stations nationwide. RIP K-Swift, we ALL love and will miss you. But just like Aaliyah and Left Eye, you will NEVER be forgotten girl! Time is too short to hold beefs and grudges, this is a prime example. This is such a sad and senseless lost. this is one reason EVERYONE should know CPR, her death could possibly been prevented. Then again, God knows best and when it is your time to go CPR or anything can keep you here. My prayers are with the family, and friends.

Now people use common sense, if they moved her to get her out of the water, they could have done CPR on her too! Giving CPR would maybe prolonged her life. There is a Good Samaritan law that goes into effect when you are trying to save someone’s life, so therefore, if medical attention would have been given they could not be sued! Second a fracture is a break. Either the people did not want to get involved as so many people do or there was not a single person thar knew how to give CPR. Third how would anyone of the people know that she ha d fractured neck if they were not doctors who could diagnose it ? ! I feel maybe she could lived if someone had taken the time to do what was right.

The autopsy shows K-Swift died from a broken neck after diving into her swimming pool, but friends and fans must wait to find out whether alcohol played a role in the groundbreaking DJ’s death.

Fans would love to hear her voice one more time, but tapes, grief and memories are all 92Q listeners can cling to after Khia “K-Swift” Edgerton died early Monday morning.

The Baltimore medical examiner is calling her death an accident. An autopsy shows the 29-year-old’s neck was broken when she hit her head while diving into the water during her backyard party. Friends pulled her out, but CPR wasn’t administered until an ambulance arrived.

Being from Baltimore, I know just how prolific K-Swift was. She was and still is a role model. This woman was incredible talented and this is just a huge loss to the entire community and the world really. I’m still in shock. My prayers are with her family and the whole city. I also think that people shouldn’t speculate about what happened, not that I don’t think something sounds…questionable, but out of respect to her family we shouldn’t speculate.RIP Khia “K-Swift” Edgerton. Hey. This was a complete and utter shock to the Baltimore music scene. Me being from Baltimore, it has a HUGE impact on us that rep the 410. Swift was more than just a DJ. She was a beautiful person on the outside and inside. She did things for the community. She would do surprise shows at local high schools. And she was just a down to earth person. She didnt let her status go to her head. She will be TERRIBLY missed! She’s one of those people that you cannot replaced!

I have a few memories of Swift myself… I am a graduate of Randallstown High c/o 2005 (the school she also graduated from) and I remember her coming to do our pep rally’s, our parties, and our fashion show. I remember conversing with her backstage at our fashion show, laughing and having fun with the rest of our stagecrew. I also remember going to the dox and hammerjack partying with her on them 1’s and 2’s…. I’M TELLIN U AMERICA… THAT GIRL WAS BLESSED!!! Although I am still at a lost for words, I just want to finish out sayin GOD ONLY takes the best so he has gained an ANGLE in heaven, HE called her home because according to HIM, she had completed her job and purpose on earth now she’s parting in heaven, everytime it is lightning and thundering outside…. she has club heaven open and partying and when its raining, partygoers are up there sweating, lol…. so this is for my girl SWIFT… U WILL TRUELY BE MISSED AND NEVER FORGOTTEN!
