President Obama Honors Walter Cronkite
September 9th, 2009President Obama traveled to New York today to speak at a memorial service held for veteran CBS anchor, Walter Cronkite.
Other speakers at the Lincoln Center event included President Bill Clinton, Katie Couric and Tom Brokaw.
“We also remember and celebrate the journalism that Walter practiced — a standard of honesty and integrity and responsibility to which so many of you have committed your careers,” said Obama. “It’s a standard that’s a little bit harder to find today. We know that this is a difficult time for journalism. Even as appetites for news and information grow, newsrooms are closing. Despite the big stories of our era, serious journalists find themselves all too often without a beat. Just as the news cycle has shrunk, so has the bottom line.”

The speech toward the nation about how kids need to stay in school was a very good topic because we young people need to have a good education so that we can be very successful, and take out into the real world. There was nothing wrong about how Obama approach the situation about how this young people or dropping out just because their friends or doing it or most of this teenager girls are getting pregnant . The parents need to make sure that their kids go to school instead of dropping out, for the most part most of this jobs require a high school diploma or a GED. So, it is very important to go to school so that you want be work ing a dead end job for the reason of you. Like, Martin Luther King Jr. stated, “A Mind Is A Terrible is a Terrible Thing to Waste” in which is true we as young people need to expand our minds not waste our knowledge.
