Radio Hosts Call For Anti-racism ‘Blackout’

October 31st, 2007

They say that Black folks can show their power by refusing to buy anything on Friday
Could African Americans put a dent in racism by agreeing not to spend a single nickel on the same day of the week? A group of Black radio talk-show hosts believe that Black folks – with an estimated purchasing power near $1 trillion – could force the U.S. governmentmoney to take a more aggressive stand against the seeming deluge of racial injustices, from the flurry of nooses and hurry to jail Black youths, to racial profiling and predatory mortgage lenders. Raleigh, N.C., Attorney and radio show host Warren Ballentine says that if African Americans keep their money in their pockets on Friday, they will send a clear message that the Black community is nothing to mess with. He says he got the idea after joining numerous protest marches this year. “After Jena, [the Louisiana march that drew tens of thousands of people] I decided there’s so many things going on in this country as far as [injustices within] the justice system,” Ballentine, who calls himself “The People’s Attorney,” told The Atlanta Journal Constitution. Among other radio personalities who have joined his crusade are Michael Baisden and the Rev. Al Sharpton. “I’m a lawyer and I’m seeing a lot of people across the board suffer from the mortgage crisis,” he said. “I’m asking all Americans to participate, not just blacks. I’m asking people — if you can — don’t spend any money.” With more than 36 million Blacks in the United States, Ballentine says an anti-racism economic boycott can be powerful. “It’s showing togetherness and unity, and it’s one thing we haven’t shown the federal government in a long time,” Ballentine said. “I know this is working because I’m getting death threats and advertisers are starting to worry that they’re going to lose money on this day.” Do you think this is a good idea? Will you participate in the economic boycott on Nov. 2?

I am up for it lets do what we have to do. I am so very proud of our people for taking a stand.

If we get this out to the masses it’s a great step in the right direction. As black people -a lot of us really do not realize the -power we have if we just take a dedicated stand against injustices.

We can do it. If thousands of illegal immigrants could pull off a state to state protest/walk out, then surely, we as legal citizens, being of the strong African-American persuasion, can definitely do it. I am game! Also, myself with Bro. Waddell, are putting together a web site where people will register to help us with a financial boycott during the Thanksgiving and Xmas holidays. I have been telling people for the longest time, that if we want to hurt the paleface race, keep your money out of their pockets since they love money more than they do life itself. That is what made the Montgomery Bus Boycott successful. Blacks pulled together and said, “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH” and they stop spending money t ride buses where they had to sitin the back. For once, I want us to show Amerikkka and these evil, savage palefaces who predict we will fail, that as a people, we can unite and make a difference. Separate, we have no power, but together as A PEOPLE, WE CAN DELIVER A POWERFUL BLOW. We will not end with just this boycott. For those who want to join our movement to continuously ensure justice for OUR PEOPLE, email me, Breanna at breannaeveningstar@gmail.com or you can email Waddell at waddellsings@yahoo.com. We must keep our eyes on the prize, as we are now in a battle for our very survival as a people. We must show the money hungry savage races who wish to continuously oppress us, that if YOU DON’T LIKE US, YOU DON’T LIKE OUR MONEY. Everyone is talking, well, we are putting things into action. Spread the word to ALL of our sista’s and brotha’s that this is a NEW MOVEMENT as we are on the eve of A NEW REVOLUTION!! Keep your heads up and your hands in God, as He will deliver us like He did our people in Biblical days, as He did during the barbaric slavery days, and He is the same God which sits on the throne today. Peace unto my sista’s and brotha’. UNITED WE MUST STAND!

Yes, yes, yes,,,,at long last we are taking a positive stand for togetherness for a just cause. Well done. Let this be the first of many for various reasons. We should support the black peoples market instead of filling the white mans pockets who do nothing for us. I am not saying that all whites are bad, but it seems as if they rule the world. WE’VE GOT THE POWER. Maybe radio stations should play I’Ve got the power to inspire all the black community. Everyone listens to the radio at some time during the day or night. Send out flyers in the community. Contact churches etc. LET’S DO IT. AMEN

More dumb irrational rantings from Eveningstar. If this country is so horrible you always have the option to get the f@ck out. Get your passport and leave! Move to Africa. Your azz wouldn’t last a month. Making racist statements then have the nerve to invoke the name of God. You’re no better than the so-called “oppressor” You’re an embarassment.

Eveningstar Said on

I am sooooooooooo glad to see the enthusiasm among our people regarding us coming TOGETHER AS ONE. Together, with God on our side., we can accomplish ALL things! You do not know just how touched I am to see our people coming together across this nation to speak out against these gross injustices. They have already said that we would NEVER be together as a people. In the Willie Lynch papers, he talked about how to make a slave. He spoke of separating us, pitting the light skin against the dark skin, the men against women, and poor against well off. This type of mentality has kept us as a people separate for too long. Let us prove to them, that we no longer have that slave mentality sick and will Not be used as pawns in their sick political games. I we believe it, we CAN ACHIEVE IT! LET’S DO THIS!

I’M DOWN!

How about a boycott against buying and selling DRUGS, GUN violence and making babies you can’t afford. What about going 3 or 4 days without young Blk men killing each other as a stand against the “oppressor.” Not buying food, CD’s or gas is not gonna do a thing to “send a message.” This boycott is an empty symbolic gesture that in the end will result in nothing but people buying more stuff AFTER the boycott is over to make up for what they didn’t buy during the boycott.
We live in a GLOBAL economy. White people don’t care if you dont buy their stuff because there are Asian, Hispanics, Middle Easterners, etc who will.

MINISTER D. Said on

ANYONE WHO DOESN’T PARTICIPATE IS JUST COWARDLY.
