Rev. Dollar Blamed for Stealing Trade Secret
June 25th, 2009TV mega-preacher Creflo Dollar, one of several high-profile ministers being accused of fleecing their flocks to finance their lavish lifestyles, is being sued by a California businessman who says the pastor stole his business idea of charging followers a monthly fee for devotional text messages. Also named in the lawsuit are Dollar’s son, Jeremy, whom the plaintiff, Devone Lawson, alleges reneged on the deal, pilfered his trade secrets and launched “Word on the Go” three years ago. The already very-rich Creflo and Jeremy are raking in $50 million a year through the $4.99-per-month subscriptions, which the preacher recently hiked to $5.99, James Evangelista, Lawson’s Atlanta-based attorney, claims. “The word from the preacher ain’t cheap,” Evangelista said. “Apparently, the Rev. Dollar and the Dollar Ministries do not practice what they preach, unless the prosperity gospel they preach justifies fraud and theft in the attainment of material wealth.” The suit claims breach of agreements and contract, fraud, misrepresentation, interference and misappropriation of trade secrets. Dollar reportedly has 30,000 congregants at his World Changer Church International in the Atlanta suburb of College Park. He also has another church in New York City and an international TV ministry. The private-jet-owning, Rolls-Royce-driving Dollar is the target of an investigation by Senate Finance Committee member Charles Grassley, who argues that several televangelists have unscrupulously gained wealth by skirting tax laws and soaking their congregations for millions. Grassley has demanded all financial records from Dollar and fellow TV ministers Joyce Meyer, Benny Hinn, Eddie Long, Randy & Paula White and Ken Copeland.
I WOULDN’T GIVE A DIME TO THIS CHURCH OR ANY THAT ARE RUNNING THEMSELVES LIKE A FOR-PROFIT BUSINESS. CONGRESS SHOULD DEFINITELY GO AFTER CREFLO. CHURCH SHOULD NOT BE GETTING RICH OF THE BACKS OF ITS MEMBERS, RATHER USING WHAT MONEY IT DOESN RCV TO SPREAD THE WORD OF GOD. OF COURSE YOU HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF THE CHURCH AND THE PASTOR, HOWEVER EXCESSIVE GREED IS NOT GODLY. I CAN’T BELIEVE PEOPLE ARE SUCKED INTO NONSENSE.
THE LORDS HOUSE HAS BEEN TURNED INTO A STORE FRONT!! HE WILL SOON CLEAN HIS HOUSES OF ROTTEN PRODUCE, THERE WILL BE WILL A CHECKS AND BALANCES MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING HIS BLESSINGS FOR HIS GLORY AND NOT YOURS.
First this article reminds me of the Bible story about money changers in the temple that Jesus turned out.Second ,there is no way I’m going to give my money to a preacher named Dollar.
This is exactly why there was investigation into mega churches and the living large preachers. I can’t understand why the members of the church don’t feel outraged.
My family and I moved here from North Carolina back in January. I started going to Dollar’s church b/c my cousin is a member of that church. All I know is that the times I have attended World Changers Church in College Park has been very inspiring. I am not one to persecute or condemn any teleevangelist. I do not have a heaven or hell to put anyone in. However, I do believe any minister, whether he or she pastors a mega church or oversees a small congregation is held accountable to God, not man, for their actions.
If this is something that is proven to be true, then may God have mercy on their souls!
I can say that personally, I have been trully blessed by the messages that have received from Joyce Meyer, Creflo Dollar and Paula White. I personally feel that it is trully amazing that when people of God are blessed financially that they are under investigation but when people that are ungodly have a large amount of wealth then it’s ok. That is what this world has come to. Are the only people that should have wealth be the people who are not in the church?Now if anyone of these people are doing anything out of the will of God then he will punish them accordingly.Even if that is the case ,they have still served a purpose by winning souls for God!That is definately more than any of us can say for the other RICH people of the world. Also, they have ministries that help people throughout the world. How many of you can say that about yourselves or any of the other RICH people?
I,m not going to judge because God said let him judge but if rev dollar is swindling money like that he ought to be ashamed of himself using God name and message to get rich. When I watch him on t.v I always felt something was not right with him no matter what he preached my spirit never felt him or his word. I really feel sorry for him and his family if the accusations are true because a man of his stature knows what God can do maybe this is his time of crumbling, how can he take from his own sisters and brothers like that knowing people are struggling (shame on you dollar) I have no repect for a minister like you and you are one of the reasons people do not go to church today. Jesus is the way and the beginning, you did not see Jesus with nothing expensive but the word he fed us. I,m going to seriously pray for the dollar family because they are full of greed and may God have mercy on your souls. In the name of Jesus. Amen

So many of the millionaire Faith Teachers promise that those who give to them will become rich. But it only works one way – give to them and God will prosper you. If the “seed” will reap millions, why don’t they give away thousands every week? They could save the USA from all its financial problems. Send five million to Obama and God sends a billion. Send a billion and back comes enough to end the crisis.
They can’t lose – or can they? It seems they are not willing to risk it.

Jesus taught that we will know the false prophets by what they say – the “fruit” of the prophet (Matthew 7:16). Don’t let them get away with it!
