A New America- Rihanna, DJ AM, Kanye West

As the end of 2009 approaches, it should be obvious to look at the events of the past year in such a way that it impacts us to strive harder and thrive in our current positions.
Lets have fun, have happy moments, but most importantly keep it real with ourselves about the current reality of our circumstances. Understanding that even if we don’t want to be, we are accountable to ourselves and the ones around us. You matter, we matter, they matter.

What do people really think about Rihanna’s album dropping 11/23/09,???
Never hearing anything from her about her relationship with Chris Brown and their altercation last February???
Is it REALLY all about the music???
That’s all that matters???
We wouldn’t know love without pain, joy without rain and understanding that nothing stays the same.
Rihanna is talking about “the wait is ova”. What wait??? The waiting to hear her side of the story, the waiting to see what her album is going to be like… being that she hasn’t been vulnerable with her fans/ public about the DOMESTIC VIOLENCE between her and her ex-man Chris Brown.
Domestic violence doesn’t matter anyway right???
A-list actress Nicole Kidman has only testified before a US congressional committee considering legislation to deal with violence against women overseas, through humanitarian relief efforts and grants to local organizations. But that doesn’t matter right???
Furthermore what makes us think that this album is going to be hot??? Her music is suppose to be an expression of herself…how are we to receive this album???
Its not about telling people your business, its about being REAL with yourself and your situation. Then owning up to the responsibilities that come with the choices you have made for your life.
Choosing to do the right thing, which is the REAL thing.
No Judgment….I’m just challenging Rihanna and challenging the world at hand. Is everyone awake or sleeping in a self destructive pit of denial??? Ok so I’m being dramatic…but so is Lady Ga Ga…and she’s on top of the billboard charts.
Sources say Rihanna even turned down an invitation from Oprah to go to her show and speak on the situation at hand. And this is Oprah…you get where I’m going with this…Oprah is the same person that early this year came out and exposed OUT LOUD that she has issues with her weight. No surprise we all knew that…yet when she finally became real with it… that is when we accepted it.
In Rihanna’s case are we suppose to act like last February never happened??? It’s like a woman getting pregnant, the reality of it is…there is a baby being produced inside of her. Either way she is going to have to handle the situation. Whether that’s now or later… she is going to have to deal with the fact she is pregnant. Even if she has an abortion, she is still going to have to go through the process, no matter what! That’s real…. Denial is a choice!

You’ve seen DJ AM’s ” Gone too Far” on MTV.
It is obvious that his death hits home right? The irony of his concept “Gone too far” and how he died of a drug over dose awakens the automatic pilot defense mechanisms of the world.
I’m sure the show brings tears to those that knew him, those that he was a role model too, and those that see the power of the greater testimony to young people that his death is symbolic of the exact warning he was giving to these young adults with addictions.
I know that I’m not the only one that sees this as deep and profound. Where you have to look to the side and shout……. “WOWWWWW” as Flava Flav would say.
Are we as Americans not seeing the harsh sigh of reality that the entertainment industry does not fully embrace.
We see Madonna on the MTV music awards sharing her thoughts about Michael Jackson and his death. The key words that came out of her mouth… “I abandoned him…We abandoned him” She exposed herself with integrity and truth. Madonna stood in front of the world with her pride out the window and KEPT IT REAL!
I realized as I write this, that the entertainment industry likes to expose people and tell you what they believe these celebs are doing. Sometimes these reports are right and sometimes these reports are a little short from what could even possibly be the truth. We like to criticize people for exposing themselves… i.e. David Letterman completely exposing himself on national television, ok so he had an affair with one of his employees Fine! However as people can’t we look at the fact that he is coming out AND being real about his situation and his life instead of hiding it and someone else doing it for him. Whether he is telling the truth or not, at least he opened up a door way for individuals with similar issues to take a look at their lives and keep it real. Making a mistake is not a bad thing, it’s just what it is… A MISTAKE. What’s not God sent is God used…Even through a lie one will learn something. Through the truth many will be free.

Then we have Kanye West… Ok so his on stage fiasco involving Taylor Swift was messed up. I just believe what’s even more messed up is not seeing that “something” is wrong. Sometimes a cry for help, doesn’t always look like a cry for help. Is it a pain in the ass to have to work it to figure out what is going on with someone, where they’re acting a fool??? Sure….. That’s when we choose to either be real or honest about any given situation. It’s honest to see that Kanye West has done many radical things for the public to question his sanity. It’s real to ask ourselves…” what has this young man experienced in his life to make the choices that he has made?”
Is Psychology only in the schools???
Do we only call people crazy in the entertainment industry because they are public figures??? Do we treat them like we treat anyone else that lives in regular society??? Again denial is a choice!
Maybe if we fight hard we can get “Jon and Kate plus 8” to stay on the air in a effort to save their marriage WHY???
Because denial is a choice.

Please stop insulting our intelligence. The album is dropping and now you want to speak out. Girl, you can keep it to yourself at this point. If you were going to talk, you should have talked to Oprah! This is old news now and so are you!

I am glad that she is finally speaking out about the abuse she suffered. BW suffer more for abuse than any other race of women and this needs to end now. I am glad that BM are date out because most BM are just no good for BW. WW and Non-BW will wake up to the sad reality of what we have experienced for years. Abusive men who prey on women.

Anytime is the right time to speak out about domestic voilence (as long as you speak out) Rhianna was very young and confused in a situation she has never been involved in before, what is so wrong with taking time to do some soul searching and not making rash or foolish decisions at that time……Give the young lady a break, maybe now she feels it’s time to not let it consume her any longer but to go on with the purpose she have in life.

Rihanna i am with you 100% (and many more) once is enough……Go rock the world with your music and be like you said “a good example to women esp. young girls”………Nuff blessings to you !!!
